Sue, you are a BadA$$ in the best of ways! Keep looking good and feeling good; it will keep us on plan and on track! It is difficult to look at old photos and see where we’ve been but it’s so inspiring to see where we are or are headed now. You give a lot of hope to others who are struggling with their weight, myself included!! {{{hugs to you}}} And Mr. Right? I bet he’s going to show up soon!! He’d better have as many wonderful attributes as you do! When I was single, I dated Mr. First Love, Mr. Liar, spent years with Mr. Can’t Commit, and finally met (and married) Mr. Right! It will happen for you!!

I take all my food and lay it out on my kitchen table by day. I have plastic grocery bags that I wrote each day on. That way in my freezer all I have to do is grab the bag for that day. The non frozen food I write on with a sharpie what day and what it is. For example, Monday Snack, Tuesday Breakfast. One last tip, as I am putting my food in the freezer, I always start with the last day of the week so current day is on top to pick from. =)

I have been going to a trainer for over a year with very little, if any results. But, I realized today that I may not have been doing my part....so its a new month and i plan on literally working my butt off! i hope to be at least 25 pounds lighter my my 60th birthday in July....i can not believe I am almost 60! when i was twenty, sixty seemed ancient! I had this conversation with my 17 year old granddaughter the other day,,,,I said "on your 40th birthday, you will remember what your mema said. Time fly's after 21!"

I had the same issue on RR and found that I was on too high of a calorie plan. They started me on 1500 calories and I lost 1.6 the first week and only 0.6 lbs the second (I initially weighed in at exactly the same amount, then I urinated and got back on the JC scale and it went down). It was horribly frustrating to me; even though I knew I had cheated one night, I knew I should have lost more weight. So my JCC bumped me down to 1200 in a desperate attempt to get me on the right path. When I went in for my week 3 weigh in, I ensured I had an empty bladder, then I went to the scale... 4.4 lbs lost!!! So talk to your JCC about your calorie plan, be sure to use the potty before your weigh in, and make sure your paper says RR on the top (my first one didn't that's why I only lost 1.6). Hope this helps!

This is so great! I am so proud of you and I am even more proud that you are patting yourself on the back! I am too! We should all do this from time to time. I am also with you on why do people have to be so rude when it comes to food? Why would someone put a donut up to your mouth? Do people not realize how horrible that is? I mean, would they put alcohol up to an alcoholics lips? Oh and my favorites line, "one won't kill you". Whether that is one piece of bacon, one piece of cake, one piece of candy, pie, fried chicken...etc. If I say no thank you, people should respect that! Congratulations on an amazing day! Great job!!

Hello- I am a hairdresser and I like the longer on you, looks more youthful! How ever, with your coarser hair type, you could go back to a richer brown w/ caramel hilights semi- permanent color on ends) which will give your hair more shine and control. Perhaps a bit shorter and then you can use a cloth headband when working out... just a thought

In the above pic I like it long. I think I'm just partial to short hair....lol either way you look fabulous!

Thanks! So far, I have tentatively decided to do a $5 donation to an organization of my choosing each week that I get to 60 stars. Still open to other suggestions, though! And good luck at your first self-weigh-in. I have an app on my phone that you might like since you are weighing at home anyway -- I use it in addition to my weekly weigh-ins. It is called "WeightTrend" -- it does a moving average of your daily weigh-ins, and lets you know, overall, what your weight loss looks like, without all the random fluctuations of daily weigh-ins creating confusion. For example, even though my weigh-in yesterday was 1.6 lbs more than my weigh-in today, my moving average only went down by 0.4 lbs overall from yesterday until today, which makes a lot more sense. And I can also see that my average weight went down 2.6 lbs since last week. I don't know if that has any appeal for you, but it makes a huge difference for me to see the overall trend of my weight loss and not stress about water retention on a particular day. It's also really easy to stay accountable because there's a little green downward-pointing arrow showing the trend of your losses (since yesterday and since last week). If that arrow ever goes red and points upward, you can easily see that you are not looking at a random fluctuation, but at an actual trend of gaining weight rather than losing it.

Thanks. Yeah I'm a little more nervous about it today. I definitely don't want to be losing muscle mass.

As far as I understand, my "Premium membership" comes with a 10% discount as long as I do the full pre-planned menus, including the Anytime bars. I am definitely in this for the long haul. That's why I feel like I have to save money at every step. :-)
  31. 1 point
Anytime bars are 1 dairy or 2 protein. See your Getting Started guide for exchanges and choices. I never bought the bars. I have Fage Nonfat Greek yogurt with berries for 1 and usually a 50 calorie string cheese and 50 cals of lunch meat for other. I like to mix and match my proteins. I will take deli turkey or ham, spread on a little mustard and add asparagus or another veggie and roll it up for a snack. Lots of choices to sub for bars and shakes. I have these snacks when on JC food or not. (I am in maintenance) but use the food often, In fact I am placing an order today! Too much holiday!

I had the cinnamon swirl french toast and oranges this morning. I fanned the orange segments out into a border around my french toast pile. I totally agree about how I am making meals into more of an "event" than I used to. I take pictures of my food way more than I ever have before!

Sue you are just right. Can't see where you are going to lose 30 more pounds. You look thinner than me!

Hi Maria, Agree with Clare. Having been on the diet rollercoaster for fifty years, there is no way you could lose 14 pounds over night even just water weight. Check yourself on another scale or wait til you see your consultant. If you are close to your goal weight, you lose weight slowly, often slower than you want.
  35. 1 point
Congrats Camis on your new baby. It is so easy while pregnant to put weight on. You don't want to diet because you are feeding two. You will get to goal sooner than you think.

I just don't understand the need to use an ingredient like this - why not use good ol' fashioned honey?
  37. 1 point
I discussed the cinnamon buns, barscotti, and the other sweet breakfast choices with my consultant. (I don't like sweets for breakfast). She immediately crossed those off the breakfast meals and gave me what I wanted - more protein with the egg meals. Also, I didn't want the chocolate lava cake, cupcakes, cheesecake etc for my evening snack. She changed those to savories. Talk to your consultant - they will fine tune the program to your likes.

Hello Gogurl135! Welcome and congratulations on taking the first step towards a healthier life! It sounds like the JC program will work well for you, given the stressful life you have. I really love it and hope you will too. We all spend so much time taking care of the needs of others that sometimes we get lost in the shuffle. But now it's time for YOU! You deserve to be healthy. And you CAN do this! There's lots of great people here to offer help and encouragement whenever you need it! Let us know how you're doing! Wishing you great success! Jen

Hang in there! The exercise will boost your metabolism. I try to do it in the morning so it works on my system all day. The fact that you have lost and not gained is milestone. Think of the 4.8 pounds as 18 sticks of butter or a bag of potatoes. Drinking the water and the exercise will pay off.

I had a lot of bloating at first too. Drinking lots of water really helps curb that annoying problem...yeah yet another reason to drink water! I haven't told anyone besides my kids and my boyfriend either. When people start asking me what I'm doing to lose weight my answer will be "eating less, moving more" because that is exactly what it is. I am a little embarrased/guilt ridden because I am a struggling single mom and could very well put this money toward other things but I'm taking care of myself and it is helping me be a better mom. It's motivation to stick to the plan to the letter so I can reach my goal and transition back to regular food with healthier decision making!! Good luck and stay strong! I plan to spend a lot of time outdoors this week end getting exercise and being away from temptations!

I love it!!! I'm a bit of a smart a$s myself. I'm lucky that this time my husband was the one who suggested we lose weight. He still complains every now and then. But, he walks with me at 5 a.m. every morning.

what you can also do is leave it boiling in the bag. It will thaw out just fine- no dirting pot. I have trouble with most veggies-don't like them- but I found what helps me-either thaw out your soup, or while freshly made and put it in the blender this is the way I can get soup veggies in

Thanks! I love lemon flavor. Going to have to try that! I have been putting a yogurt, frozen strawberries and ice in a blender. Stirring in fresh berries is a good idea. Lately, I am loving blackberries!

Good luck! I have been on several different programs and I must say JC food is much tastier then the others!

You can do this. It will be worth it! I chew gum while I'm making my family dinner - I know you didn't indulge but I find it stops my sampling as I'm cooking:)

I find that being bullied in relation to weight loss seems to have the exact opposite effect. Nothing worked for me because my mind wasn't in the right place. I joined Jenny because I WANTED the change. Right now I'm on a weight loss challenge at work but I might drop out because the competitiveness of it is making people have unhealthy habits. They are not eating but then running in the sun. In addition although I have lost 12 lbs in the last 3 weeks its not enough for the lady running the challenge, today at my weigh in she told me I gained muscle mass but haven't lost any pounds so I need to do more! I'm gonna do it on my terms and my way. But if you need any support let me know!!

I hear you about St. Paddy's Day....what I did was I cut as much of the visible fat as I could from the brisket before I cooked it, added a ton of cabbage, carrots, and onion and just a few baby red potatoes. When I ate, I enjoyed mostly cabbage and carrots, one small red potato, and probably 3 oz if that of the meat, which I crumbled over the vegetables to get the flavor. I didn't drink beer or eat the dill rye bread, or touch any dessert, but I did make an Irish coffee...black coffee, 1.5 oz Irish whisky, a touch of non-fat half 'n half, and a blob of non fat whipped topping. I felt good about it...and when I hopped on my home scales the following day, I'd noticed a weight loss EVEN with the Irish Coffee. Love these forums and blogs.

Your Journey is so motivating, this is the last day of my first week and I weigh in on Tuesday. The week went by good and of course the first couple of days were hard but the weekend was the worst. It was hard to cook my favorite foods and not be able to eat it and then go out with friends and not be able to eat anything..today we went to the mall and I didnt have a choice but to have subway but I had the turkey with only mustard on it and veggies....and when we all went to Ihop with friends, I got the 300 cal omelet and of course gained 1/2 a pound this morning
