Can I do the program if I am breastfeeding?

Absolutely. Nursing mothers will be advised to follow a modified calorie level based on the frequency of breastfeeding. All breastfeeding mothers will need to wait until their baby is at least six weeks old to enroll. When you join or restart the program, your consultant will ensure that you are on an appropriate calorie level so that you and your baby receive the proper nutrition you both need during this special time. Always consult your physician before starting a weight loss program.

HowMuchDoesJCCost_Main_compressed.jpgHow can I be on the program when I have to cook for my family?

This is a common concern for new members, but the Jenny Craig program can work with many different lifestyles. Most Jenny Craig meals only take about 5-10 minutes to prepare when you include a salad and Fresh & Free Additions, so you won’t miss out on family time.

Try these tips to coordinate your Jenny Craig meals with your family’s meals to cut down on meal prep and cooking times:

  • Create a quick and easy taco bar with plenty of fresh veggies for your family to enjoy while you savor your Chicken Street Tacos
  • Digging into the Beef Teriyaki tonight? Whip up a tasty stir-fry with your favorite ingredients. Plus, these 5-minute side dishes pair perfectly with lunch and dinner — and they’re made with plenty of fresh vegetables, like broccoli, mushrooms and bok choy, so you can stay on track with your weight loss goals.

If you start to get hungry while cooking your family’s meal, try drinking 16 ounces of water and eating a small salad to help you feel more satisfied.

What happens after I reach my goal weight?

First, celebrate a job well done! Your consultant will help you transition to the Jenny Craig Maintenance Program. Some members choose to follow a Jenny Craig maintenance menu, continuing to meet with their consultant and enjoy the ease of Jenny Craig meals. Others choose to apply the principles they’ve learned during their weight loss journey — visual portion cues, carb and protein balances, Fresh & Free Additions, and more — to self-prepared meals. When the time comes, talk with your consultant about which approach feels right for you.

What happens if I reach a plateau?

A weight loss plateau — when weight loss halts — can happen to anyone. But the good news is, breaking through a weight loss plateau isn’t impossible: Your consultant has lots of strategies to help you find success. Since a plateau can be caused by a number of factors, your consultant will work closely with you to determine what might be causing your weight loss to stall. Then you’ll work together to adjust your menu or behaviors, all while staying motivated to meet your end goal.

Can I make the program work within my budget?

Absolutely! This is a very common question, and we suggest discussing your budget limits with your consultant. The average cost of an entire day's worth of food on Jenny Craig is $25 in the U.S., which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks.

How can I join Jenny Craig?

Whether you’re researching your weight loss options or have questions along the way, we’re here to help! Our consultants are trained to give you the guidance you need throughout your journey — research shows that people following a structured weight loss program that includes support may lose more weight and maintain it, compared to those who don’t.

Where can I find suggestions of the healthy fats I'm supposed to be eating for dinner?  Or how to prepare the vegetables?  Or a list of acceptable fruit?

Hi @AllisonFMiller,

Welcome to the community!  You can find most of this information in the Getting Started Guide which you should have received during your first consultation or in your first shipment.  If you did not get one, please ask your consultant for one right away.  The Grocery List which is in the back of the guide (on pages 38-47) lists each food group and the choices/serving sizes.  In case you do not have this guide yet, you can see the Grocery List here.

You can find examples of Fruits and Healthy Fats there.  An example of a healthy fat is 6 almonds.  You do not have to have it at dinner either just because it is listed there.  You can move the foods/snacks around in your day to what best fits your hunger and schedule so you could have the almonds as a snack or with your lunch if you want.

Any fruit is fine, just stick with the serving size that is listed in this guide. For example, if you menu says 1/2 Fruit, you will see in the Fruit list that 2 small tangerines counts as ONE Fruit choice so you would want to have 1 tangerine which = 1/2 Fruit.  Your consultant can help you navigate and understand your menu.  As for preparing vegetables, the community members here have great ideas that they share- look in the Food section.  We advise roasting, steaming and cooking with any herbs/spices of your choice and you can use nonstick cooking spray or if you have 1 Fat from your menu to use you can use 1 tsp oil to saute or roast them in.

Best Wishes!

I love cutting up my fresh carrots  and steaming them till they are very soft.  I add spray butter, a little cinnamon,  and a dash  of sugar substitute. Mash till soft. Delicious.

Hi,

The easiest ways to measure solid foods is with a food scale.  You don't have to get anything fancy, just a basic food scale will tell you how many ounces a food like meat, chicken, fish, etc is. You can weigh it after it is cooked since some water cooks out.

Why can't I pick my own foods this is my first week and I don't care for a lot of things. I was told only 3 substitute meals per week?
