Confident From the Inside, Out: Identical Twin Michelle R. Lost 18 lbs.* With Jenny Craig

My sister, Melissa, and I are identical twins. Sharing the same looks with her was always part of my identity. The comments and comparisons were fun … until I gained 18 lbs. The weight seemed to creep on little by little after I changed my active job as a registered nurse and became a nurse practitioner in a clinic. I went from walking constantly throughout a 13-hour shift to sitting behind a desk.

As my weight increased, some people no longer saw us as identical twins. I became known as the “chubby twin” or “the twin with the round face.”  It hurt, and I felt like I was losing part of what made up our special bond. I became self-conscious and it affected the closeness I’d always felt with my now-thinner sister.


Melissa and I planned to attend our first Twins Days Festival in the summer, and I wanted to go looking like her identical twin. Melissa encouraged me to join Jenny Craig after reading a weight loss story in a national magazine, where one of the women credited Jenny Craig for her success. Losing weight with Jenny Craig was so SIMPLE for me. Previous unsuccessful weight loss attempts were often time-consuming, difficult to follow, left me feeling hungry and had short-lived results. I followed Rapid Results and it was like striking gold. My day was split into two 12-hour periods. During the first 12 hours, I followed my menu and ate all my food and snacks. The next 12 hours were devoted to rest and rejuvenation. I ate the food, followed the plan, stuck to the 12-hour periods and I lost weight.


The food is satisfyingly delicious and perfectly portioned. I didn’t have to bother with putting the right foods together or counting points and calories. Jenny Craig did all the hard work for me.


The weekly one-on-one consultations with my amazing coach Eileen changed the game for me. I enjoyed the support, being held accountable and appreciated the motivation she provided. One of the best tips she gave me was to stay well-hydrated during the day. I found that increasing my water intake enabled me to go longer between meals and snacks without feeling hungry. Eileen helped make this journey successful and words can’t express her pivotal role in my weight loss achievements.

I lost 18 lbs.* on Jenny Craig — I feel great and look like an identical twin again! My BMI and blood pressure decreased, and my sister and I now wear the same clothing size. I say yes to anything social now. Before my weight loss, I never wanted to leave the house or be seen out in public. Now, I’m happy to go out and be active because I’m confident in my own skin.
