What is Jenny Craig's DNA Decoder Plan and Can It Help You Lose Weight?

By Stephanie E - Jenny Craig Reviewed by Briana Rodriquez, R.D.

DNA testing for weight loss is quickly becoming a popular tool to support a healthier lifestyle. If you’ve ever wondered why people tend to lose weight differently, their DNA might be part of the cause. If you’re ready to maximize your weight loss efforts, learning more about your DNA could help.

That’s where Jenny Craig’s new DNA Decoder Plan™ comes in. We’ll explain what it is, why it’s a valuable tool for weight loss, and how you can get started.

Why choose DNA testing for weight loss?

Joining a DNA weight loss plan may identify elements that could help — or hinder — your weight loss progress and give you the strategies you need to overcome them.

DNA testing offers a unique opportunity to learn more about your body’s weight loss tendencies. With the help of a simple DNA test, you can unlock the information that’s stored in your cells and use it to support your goals.

How Jenny Craig’s DNA Decoder Plan works

Jenny Craig’s innovative DNA weight loss solution, the DNA Decoder Plan, is designed to provide insight into your DNA and further personalize your weight loss journey. Here’s how it works:

First, book an appointment.

You’ll book an appointment with a consultant that’ll be held at a Jenny Craig center or over the phone by calling: 866-706-4042.

If you book an in-center appointment:

  • Once you arrive at the center, you’ll meet with a weight loss consultant to discuss your health and weight loss goals. You’ll select the Jenny Craig membership option that works best for you, and then your consultant will enroll you in the DNA Decoder Plan.
  • After, you’ll receive your DNA Decoder Plan kit from your consultant, who will help register the kit online for you.
  • Next, you’ll follow the instructions on the kit’s label to complete your test (the DNA test consists of a simple swab from the inside of your cheek).
  • Your consultant will send your sample to a private lab, where it will be carefully analyzed. During testing, you remain anonymous to the lab. Your DNA is destroyed once the analysis is complete.
  • In 10 business days, your consultant will receive the test results and you’ll be contacted to set up an appointment to review them together.
  • Your Jenny Craig consultant will use your results to provide a tailored meal plan for you to follow.

If you book a phone appointment:

  • After speaking to your consultant about your health and weight loss goals, you’ll select the Jenny Craig membership option that works best for you, then your DNA Decoder kit will be mailed to you with your first food order.
  • Register the kit at jennycraig.com/registerdnakit and follow the instructions on the kit’s label to complete your test (the DNA test consists of a simple swab from the inside of your cheek).
  • Mail your sample in the included postage-paid envelope.
  • Once the private laboratory receives your sample, it will be carefully analyzed. During testing, you remain anonymous to the lab. Your DNA is destroyed once the analysis is complete.
  • In 10 business days, your consultant will receive the test results and you’ll be contacted to review them together by phone.
  • Your Jenny Craig consultant will use your results to provide a tailored meal plan for you to follow.

While your results are being processed, your Jenny Craig consultant will get you started on our latest science-backed weight loss program, Rapid Results, to help jump-start your weight loss.

After your consultant receives your results:

At your next appointment, your consultant will walk you through your meal plan and your detailed DNA report, which includes 15 key genetic markers and helpful tips to support you throughout your journey.

What can genetic markers and the DNA Decoder Plan tell you about weight loss?
