Loosen Your Grip: Jenny to the Rescue



:P I am on the second week of my Jenny Craig program and I am feeling good. I love that I have a place to come and write posts and respond to others. One thing that I am noticing in others as well as myself is the tight grip we have on our weight loss. I am saying this for my benefit too. I lost 5.4 lbs last week and I have to admit that I am a little worried about what this week's weigh-in will bring. The thought of gaining weight or not loosing as much as I did in the first week has creped into my mind and I feel butterflies in my stomach a little whenever I think about it, but I have some advice for us. ;) Why don't we loosen our grip on what the results may be and just let our bodies do the work. All we can do is follow the program and see what happens.

Think about it, for years we didn't even listen to our bodies as we ate and laid back (not all of us, but some of us) and now we are being attentive which is a good thing. Since we don't know how our bodies are going to respond each week, we should just be pleasantly surprised. If you should happen to gain a pound or two, don't panic because this is a test to see how you will react. Show your "new" self that you can take both the ups and downs and come out on top. :D . You will eventually learn to spot the sabotages :ph34r: that try to throw you off track and nip them in the bud.

Changing your eating habits is not easy and I am proud of you and me for taking the first steps to give our health the same priority that we give to the other (sometimes less important) things in our lives. Yay! Clap, clap, clap!

Now, I have a funny little story for you. I went to Trader Joes to pick up my groceries for the week: cottage cheese, lettuce, spinach, yogurt, almonds, fruit and since I was shopping for two friends of mine: chocolate-covered sunflower seeds. When I got to the register, I told the cashier that they were not mine and she just looked at me. I felt compelled to further my case, "Look at all the healthy stuff that I bought, that food is for me and these chocolate thingees are for my friends. I am on Jenny Craig." She smiled and said, "Good for you." When I turned around, another lady smiled at me and I repeated, "I am on Jenny Craig." Besides, I don't like chocolate-covered sunflower seeds. I wish I could say I didn't slow down my cart as I passed the chocolate peanut butter cups :huh: . Notice I said slowed down. I did NOT stop. One day soon I will ignore them completely.

When I go out, it is interesting as I notice the things that I no longer buy. Lord, please let my willpower continue. OK, so I hope you got a chuckle from my story. Now, loosen your grip and enjoy this fantastic weight loss journey that you chose to embark on. Good luck! You can do it!!

I just had my 2 week weigh it and lost 3 lbs. on top of the 6.4 that I lost the first week. :) I love your story and I agree about the grip that we see most people have in common here. I love the persistence of it all too that is partially what keeps me going. Don't stress about your next weigh in, if you following the program to a tee you will lose ;) I have upped my exercise routine and I have so much more energy without feeling hungry anymore between my meals and snacks :) I think the extra energy is setting off the feel good endorphin's that are no longer making me think about food :) I love it!! I have to remind myself daily as I check the scales that this is for the rest of my life so if I don't notice a loss one day it'll come soon enough. It's not about the day but the journey. Here's hoping for a long journey that doesn't include junk food but a lot of healthy eating!

I lost another 2.6 lbs on my weigh in this past Sat. I'm so happy. I hope you all are doing well too.

You have the right attitude. It is the journey. It is a nice one too without the junk food (never thought I would say that-lol)
