Wait! What? I think it's working!

I'm actively on my journey, but I try not to think too much about it.  I'm trying to make it part of my every day life.  When I think too much about losing weight, is when I fall off the wagon.  I either get frustrated, do the self-hate "why do I have to do this" routine, or tell myself I'm looking good and can splurge...and splurge...and splurge until I get completely off track and then quit.

Well, not now.  I can actually visualize myself at goal.  For the first time in my life I can visualize goal!  You'd think, at 56, I would have hit my goal weight at some point in my life.  Well, sadly, no.  Nadda. Never as a teen, never as an adult.  I've been close, but never at goal.  I would use every excuse in the book.  Stress being #1 - work stress, extra hours on the job, family stress.  So, yeah... stress is my trigger and my excuse for not focusing on my health.  I would do the "easy" part of tackling the stress.  But now I believe that the past just wasn't "my time" to be at goal.  I just wasn't ready to do it.  I'd make a half-baked attempt because everyone else wished it for me.  But I really didn't care.  Until I got so overweight, I had to lose something to feel a teeny bit better.  Once I felt a little better, I'd stop.  For a person who really needs to lose about 75/80 pounds, feeling better would be around 20-25 pounds.

So, what's different this time?  I think I'm still trying to figure that part out. Another thing I wouldn't do is document my journey on paper or in pictures.  So...  here's my mid-point.  I think it's working.  I'm not even thinking about quitting.  I'm not even stressed about the holiday season.... yet.  My JC consultant is my ROCK!  I know I wouldn't be here without here.IMG_20171031_1.jpg.7a60bf93b1a25359e60026c5e705047e.jpg

Fabulous!! I can sooo relate! Being here on Jenny Craig for me is a lifetime opportunity and commitment. I may move to all Meals on My Own - but I will stick with the Jenny Consultant and weighing in once a week. It feels amazing to be 100+ pounds thinner from my highest weight (246.25 - 140 today) 106.25 lbs down.. and since being back on Jenny in August a year ago - 207,8 -140 = 67.8 so fairly close to your numbers.

So part of what is different is sticking to the routine day in and day out. If I do have a bad day/week or three - getting back on track and each week weighing in.

Net net - making a lifestyle change. Working out every day (almost) and just being dedicated, So I guess I am really juts echoing your fabulous thoughts - and saying I know you and y our hubby can do this! Being thin is truly freeing... You really don't know how hard it is to carry 80 pounds around until you are at goal for a while.. and then pick up 80 pounds.

Anyway - just wanted to commend you on your journey. Let you know you are not alone... and there are so many photos to come and amazements as you lose each block of 10 pounds...

You guys are such an inspiration. My biggest concern is my fantasy that once I reach goal I can just forget about it and eat whatever I want. But I tend to be lazy about cooking when I’m tired at the end of the day (think bagels and cream cheese with bacon, or pasta) and make poor restaurant choices (what’s wrong with the shrimp and grits entree instead of the steamed fish?).

Such an inspirational post!  You are doing so great!  Reading posts from you and @missbumble are so helpful and motivational!

@rcdoc, that is one of the reasons I am back.  I got to maintenance and felt I could "eat whatever"....didn't happen.  I need to change my mindset.

@missbumble  and @Yo_MomzI agree, getting right back on the wagon as soon as you can is the key to success in the long term.  I really have trained my mind to think differently.  It's so very enlightening.  The consultants here are fabulous!  My consultant gives me such great insight.

So, @rcdoc, one of the most recent insights was how being a Jenny customer doesn't mean starving or not having what you enjoy.  I had a day where my food wasn't coming in until the next day.  I was in "my zone" with JC food, so I was very concerned about not having food for a day.  She asked me what I was having and I said - an egg, some coffee and my creamer.  I thought I needed to keep my calories low.  Apparently, that was too low.  She then gave me ideas to add to that because we need more filling foods. Egg, adding veges - one full egg, 2 egg whites; yogurt with fruit; a slice of 80 cal bread with a small pat of butter.  Wow!  Previously, I would have thought I needed to starve!  She also reminded me to eat every 2 hours.  I am not a fan of cooking.  Not to say I won't, I just get lazy about it if I can reach for something else.  But! Once I move my hands toward the right food (and it does take effort some days), the motor starts running and off I go making good stuff.  All we need to do is make one small move forward and the rest will (eventually) follow.  That has been my promise to myself - just one small move forward.  And it's working!  But wow, that move sometimes takes alot of mental fortitude!

What I'm trying to convey is, we really just need to reprogram our brains to think the way permanently healthy people think.  Feed your body and your soul!  As overweight people (I don't know about you, but I was always overweight), we think we need to starve in order to lose.  Once we learn that there is no need to do this and that our bodies actually thrive on healthy, filling food, we're golden.  YOU WILL DO THIS and so will we all!
