Food for thought...

when you feel hungry, where are you? what time is it? what are you in the process of doing? who are you with?

On the other hand, when you don't notice your hunger, where are you? what time is it? what are you in the process of doing? who are you with?

I find that it helps me to figure out what people / situations / times of day are more likely to trigger my hunger and overeating.

Do you enjoy drinking water? Personally, I do not like the taste of the water where I live (and the bottled water that tastes good costs more than soda). I have discovered that enjoying fluids helps to satisfy my cravings to be "eating" something. My best options are:

diet soda (in a full cup of ice so that I do get more water each day)

herbal tea with stevia

coffee with fat free creamer

chicken broth

(warm beverages seem to feel more filling to me than cold ones)

Kosher baby dill pickles are my favorite kind and they are super low in calories. If you like them, they are a low calorie thing to eat.

Here are two of my favorite books in case you are looking for something interesting and informative to try to help distract you from your hunger:

Mindless Eating: Why we eat more than we think by Brian Wansink (This book helped me to be aware of how much of my own overeating resulted from eating out of habit and not necessarily because of feeling hungry.)

The Power of Habit: Why we do what we do in life and business by Charles Duhigg (This book helped me to be aware of things that trigger my unwanted habits and things to do to help create new habits.)

Since you asked for help, I offer these humble suggestions that have been helpful to me.

Hang in there!
