Average weekly food cost

I'm trying to find out what the average cost per week is for the JC food plan. I've visited a center in my area but all I get is a "what is the cost of your health" pitch and never a straight answer to my question. I, like I'm sure most of you, live on a budget. Any information you can provide would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

I buy Breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack every week and I usually spend around $120.

Ditto. I buy all meals and snacks, just not the dressings or Anytime bars and I've paid $110 each of the 2 weeks so far. Overall cheaper than what I was spending with a lot of take-out prior to joining, let alone the health advantage!

My past week was 160, but I bought a walking dvd/cd and the anytime bars. I know the anytime bars are around 10, and the dvd was likely 20, so I'd say a normal week would be around 130 for me.

Between $110 and $120. Depends on the meals. But wondering would it also depend on the calorie level also? I am doing the 1200 calorie plan. What is added to the higher calorie plans? Anyone?

It doesn't matter what calorie plan (1200-2000+) you are on the costs will be relatively the same. When you are on a higher calorie plan you just add in more of your own foods....i.e. an additional fruit and or an additional milk serving, etc.

For the Jenny Craig foods, I pay an average of $125 a week. Some weeks it's a little less, some weeks it's a little more. It all depends on what you get. For instance, you should get all the breakfast/lunch/dinners/snacks, however the Anytime bars and Soupetizers are reccommended but not a necessity.

But, that's just for Jenny's food. You still have to buy your own fruits, veggies, water and milk. So total per week, I usually spend around $40 for that (also depends on what you buy). Total, about $165 a week.

Sounds like a lot, but if you can pull from your savings account long enough to do the 20 pounds for $20, you can at least get started and learn portion control. If after that, you cannot afford it, try to mimic the plan on your own.

I understand your reservations about the price, but I had to look at it like this. We always invest our money in things that we deem pertinent -- cars, homes, education, etc. But, the most important thing, our health, we never invest in (at least not the proper way). And without that, all the other things really don't matter because you won't really be able to enjoy them if you are not satisfied with yourself (health and physical appearance).

The good thing about the program is it doesn't expect you to stay on their food forever. Once you hit your halfway point to your goal, they start to decrease the amount of days you eat the Jenny foods. By the time, you reach your goal, you should be doing your own shopping for all your meals.

Eating more healthy is more expensive anyway. Fruits, veggies, nuts, lean meats... all that stuff costs. So, even after Jenny, you will probably still be paying more money than you would on an unhealthy grocery list.

I'm not sure how everyone gets their prices so low - I am almost consistently at 150 per week. I get a lot of shelf stable stuff for lunch (so typically less expensive than frozen) and don't even get a full slate of snacks/desserts. It is so annoying - I was told 125 ish when I signed up and I feel like I can NOT get to that price point.

Mine is around $125/$130 because I don't buy the soupetizers and I don't always buy the Anytime Bars. Try not buying those and you will see the price go down. I am not so sure either about the shelf items being less than the frozen. I only buy the frozen items because I don't like the taste of the non-frozen items. A little confused. Maybe it could be taxes. Not an expert on that, but maybe that could factor in as well. Don't really know how that would vary from state to state. But, definitely try cutting out the Anytime bars and the Soupetizers.

$120-130 for the Jenny food if you allow yourself to go for the $4.00+ items all around. You also will buy things at the grocery store....produce, milk, yogurt, etc.

You are paying for CONTROL and a CLEARLY LIT PATH...It was the best decision I made, to join. Full steam ahead!

Control, a clearly lit path, accountability, guidance, knowledge. All included in the price of admission.

"Plus the cost of food."----from the Jenny Craig commercial, LOL!

It is well worth it. I never regret joining and never regret returning after I left.

The only things I regret are not doing it sooner and leaving before I had reached my goal.

I joined today and spent $111 on food, 3 meals a day and a box of anytime bars. I opted out of the snacks and desserts as I am not big on snacking on pre-processed stuff and I don't like dessert. I use my snack times as a way to get my fruits, veggies and dairy. My weekly grocery bill was about 20 dollars. 131 all total, better than the 170 I was spending each week eating out...

If you have them send you 1 month of food (2 times a month) (2 weeks at a time) it is cheaper, you get a discount, the cost will be right under $600 each month

It's about $120 to $130 per week. Not bad if you lose consistently. But I hit a plateau about 5 months about. So, now I'm spending about $60 per week on SB. In 4 days, I've lost 4 lbs. I have to be more sensible about my spending, especially in these tough times.

I buy all my foods, including the Anytime bars, but not including the Soup. Mine is around $130 and then another $20 - $30 for grocery items.

Before the program I was spending at least $50 a week just on lunch alone, $10 on breakfast daily - so another $50 a week, and then I ordered dinner out most nights. On average $15 a night for dinners. That didn't include all the junk food I'd buy. So that's about $175 a week plus snacks. I'm spending less now, and eating so much better! :) Totally worth it!

Depending upon your choices, and how much frozen food you buy (frozen is priced slightly higher), the basic plan will be $12-$18 a day.

approximately how much more should we be prepared to spend at the grocery store? i know it varies based on which produce we buy / where we live etc. but a ballpark idea would be really helpful for me.

Last week, I spent $30 on grocery items and ended up with enough salad fixin's for 2 weeks. This week, I just had to buy the yogurt, milk, and some fruit, so $20. :)
