Turkey & Chicken Sand Tips

I love have the turkey and chicken sandwich as I cut a big slice of tomato, season with a good amount of pepper, and pull some basil off my basil plant. It's awesome and filling. I don't miss the cheese. :)

that sounds so yummy! i had one for lunch yesterday and just added basil. i didn't have a tomato or lettuce. :unsure:

Just had a turkey burger for lunch. Toasted the bun. "Seared" the burger meat, and then used my morning milk serving and added 1 slice reduced fat swiss cheese, used my fat serving from lunch, and added an 1/8 of an avocado, then lettuce and tomato! If you have cranberry almond cereal for breakfast you can add a slice of turkey bacon too! Yummy!!!

I save my extras for lunch time. I add a yogart, or a fruit, or a snack (bag of veggie chips or cheese curls) with my lunch if I am really hungry. Some days a cup of V8 is great and really filling.

Usually, I have a salad with whatever is listed for the lunch menu, that helps to feel full. I will always have a banana or piece of fruit, as well. One bottle of crystal lite water, and a cup of coffee and it's all good. I definitely agree that the turkey burger alone is not enough.

i make a large pot of soup with free veggies and have a bowl of soup with every meal (LUNCH & DINNER) that seems to fill the empty spot....

On the chicken sandwich, after de-greasing it, I use tomato, lettuce, onion, sriracha or Frank's Red Hot and JC Ranch for a buffalo chicken sandwich.

How do you make the soup?

The way I make soup is:

15 oz can of low sodium tomatoes (crushed, whole, your preference) - could also use 2 cups V8 instead

1 cup of water

1/2 onion diced

chopped garlic

then any 'free' veggies I have (fresh or leftover canned - rinsed)

[cabbage is great in this if it doesn't give you tummy problems]

Let simmer until desired thickness

I keep a container in the freezer for leftover veggies, then make soup when it is full.

Hi...for the Turkey sandwich sometimes I make a Turkey Reuben by cooking up some sauerkraut adding it to the top with some Fat Free Thousand Island dressing. I sometimes put bacon bits and carraway or fennel seeds into the kraut to give it extra flavor. I usually eat this as an open face sandwich.

For the Chicken Sandwich (which I never liked but now I do)...I got this idea from this website. I make a pulled chicken sandwich.

Cook the chicken then use two forks and pull it into shreds...I saute some peppers and onions, then I add the pulled chicken to the pan, add a little bbq sauce, mix it all up, toast the bun and serve open faced....makes a very filling meal.

Usually I have a salad with my lunch or the JC Tuscan Soup.

Thanks for the tip on the pulled Chicken, I thought the chicken was stringy eating it in a patty form, pulling and bbq sauce will do the trick along with toasting the bun......

I like the pulled chicken option as I also found the sandwich farily unappetizing. However, I dry fried the chicken with some hot sauce and then added muchrooms, onions etc. and toasted the bun and it was great.

I found some light buffalo ranch salad dressing at my supermarket. I have been cooking the chicken for the sandwich in the microwave, then shredding it with a fork. After that i add 1tbsp dressing to the chicken (instead of using it on my salad) and heat about 15 more seconds until warm. I toast the bun, then put 1/2 of the chicken/dressing mix on one part of the bun and the rest on the other half. I eat them open faced. (I love spicy, so sometimes I add some Franks Buffalo Sauce just to top it off) It is a delicious buffalo chicken sandwich!!

If I put my sandwich in the oven, it doesn't seem to get hot. I don't know what I am doing wrong. What is the best way to cook them?

I microwave the chicken, then shred it and toss it with Buffalo Wild Wings sauce. Toast the bun in the toaster for sure! Then some shredded lettuce on top. I have baby carrots or some hearts of palm on the side to feel full. Delish!
