I did Jenny in 2009 and 2010 and lost 25 pounds before I gave up. I just got tired of eating the same foods over and over and wanted to be "normal again." I was also on Jenny At Home, so it was much harder to stay accountable.

Since then, my weight has gone up and down a LOT. I finally drug myself back into Jenny 8 weeks ago because my weight was 20 pounds higher than it was when I started Jenny the first time, and I had gained 40 pounds in two years (stress, fast food, etc.).

I set my goal weight as 170 (I am 5'6") because anything more than 50 pounds of weight loss seemed intimidating. But for my height, my BMI would be overweight until I was 154 or less. I have lost 18 pounds in 8 weeks, so now 50 doesn't seem so intimidating. I am thinking about changing my goal to somewhere between 150 and 160 once I hit halfway. Did anyone else take an approach like this? Should I just get to 170 and then reevaluate from there or give myself a new goal now?

I would say leave it where it is for the time being.  You don't want to get overwhelmed and feel like quitting again.  When you reach your goal (and you will!) the re-assess where you are and make a new goal if you want!  You can do this!  We are all here for you!

I think many of us  have changed up our goals as we got close.   Just keep eating right and getting in some exercise and see how you feel when you get there, but you should let yourself enjoy your "halfway" celebration and i agree with kyra get closer to your orginal goal of 170 before lowering it so you can feel like you have achieved what you set out to do and feel that pride, it will give you the motivation and make you feel like you can set any goal and achieve it.

When you look in the mirror and see no change, and still keep faith, knowing that in time you will get there if you stay focused and on track, that's the difference between those who succeed and those who fail.

numbers can be intimidating. My official start weight was 195 however my heaviest weight was 215. I set my goal at 165 because I could not remember ever weighing less than that. 30lbs didn't seem overwhelming. However, when I got to my goal-- the weight just kept coming off and eventually just settled at 145. I have been able to maintain this weight for years now. It's amazing what can happen when you change your lifestyle and feel comfortable doing what you do. Set something you feel is realistic then see what happens when you get there.

I am doing the same thing - i should be in the 150's but my goal is to be 170 and then i will readjust - getting to 170 is like being " normal" weight for me - what i am most often but i have been lower and should be lower as well as i am 5feet 7 inches.  I feel that setting a first step goal is most important and then i can continue on.

Thanks, everyone!

Bigfrost, I love your starting weight picture-- you look so happy and fun! We seem to be on a very similar journey-- but you are about 20 pounds ahead of me. When did you start? I started June 16th and have lost 19 pounds in 8 weeks. Excited to hit halfway in 6 pounds. Hoping to get to 170 by the end of the year (that would be 50 pounds in 28 weeks) and then start losing that additional 10-30 pounds in 2015.

170 would feel really good because I haven't weighed less than 180 since probably 2010-- and my body tends to plateau around 180. I weighed 180 from age 14 until age 18, even though I worked out for sports 4 hours a day. And then my freshman "20" is what spurred me to go to Jenny in the first place, where I got down to 175. I was then plateaued around 190 for a while, but jumped up to 220 over the last year. So it was time to drag myself back to Jenny and be proactive about my health.

My JCC tells me to wait and see what is comfortable when I get closer to my goal range, meaning what is a good maintenance weight. If I say, 139, that might be too low for me, but it may not be. Hard to know when there are still so many pounds to lose.
