Laura you sound like you got a plan on your weight loss. Compliments are a great ego booster. Every time I get one I feel great. You'll get to goal by January 1 if not sooner. Hope you can solve your hair loss problem. Have a great weekend.

Well, all I have to say is it is so easy to get off track and so hard to get back on! Two, three, four days of night time snacking..one day of staying on program...next night overindulging....back on program the next...back to overindulging on snacks the next night....Finally on program two days in a row and I feel in control again . But, I know how easy it can be too say "just one more night!". 9:00 pm and my mind says " time for snacking!" Weight is up and I have my monthly weigh in on Friday but moved it to Monday (hoping the scale will go down a bit more). I have such a sweet tooth and I know that I need to get a handle on it. I bought some Detour protein bars at Costco that I am replacing my Anytime Bars with and I think I may use that as my last snack of the day (they taste as good as a candy bar!)  Although for some reason I went through a bag of Tortilla Chips in 3 nights and usually I don't crave chips.... At this point I need to try and see what works in helping me stay away from eating at night..  I am dealing with stress by eating the wrong foods and I acknowledge that and know that the things that are causing me to be stressed will not be going away any time soon so I better find other ways to deal with them...

Laura I think after being on the program so long that when you get to your goal, you can't wait to eat something you haven't for a while. I'm starting to think that way and I'm 2 pounds to goal. Are you still writing everything down? That will help to keep yourself in control. I plan on writing it down and using my fitness pal but I will be a little lenient and splurge once in a while. I may order JC food occasionally since there are some good items that I like. It takes a while to adjust and each person is different.

I find going on these forums and reading what everybody says and helping others keeps me on track. Laura keep in touch. Think of something else to do when you get that nighttime urge to go off the plan. Do something you like to do and after a while you won't feel hungry. What I do sometimes is fix myself hot, black tea. I've found that the hot tea is very calming. There are times when you think you want food but all you need is something to drink like water. Keep a picture of yourself when you were heavy on the fridge and anywhere else you keep food.

You are right..I went crazy eating things I hadn't had for over a year...like the tortilla chips. Once a got a taste..forget it!
I am trying to drink water or even a cup of coffee.I'm.not a tea drinker. It has helped.reading old threads under Maintenance and other forums issue helpful too. Playing lots of Words with Friends...just avoiding those cravings any way I can.
I also have been keeping track of all I eat, tracking calories and making sure I get in my dairy, protein, veggies and fruit in..getting starches in is never a problem! Thanks for your encouraging words. And Congrats on being 2 lbs from goal! So happy for you!

Thank you Laura. Even if you are not a tea drinker there must be some hot local/nocal drink that would be soothing and calming. Herb tea, which is not "real" tea comes in different flavors and doesn't taste like tea. My favs are orange, raspberry, mint, peach. I've been wanting to play Words with friends but had trouble getting on it. I've played Wordfeud. Maybe we can play the one you like. I get cravings too for ice cream. I need to keep the local kind on hand but the other has the flavors I like. I used to binge when I got stressed or down. Now I can control myself. I'll have a little and can stop myself. Usually a little taste is all I need. I make cakes and cookies for George and of course his meals. I might nibble a little and of course when I bake I'll scrape the bowl.

I use 25 calorie packets of hot cocoa mix instead of tea.  I only put in half of the packet and it is a delicious warm snack.

What is a good substitute for anytime bars? I've read about pria and detour protein bars. I live in the country, not a member of Costco. I've checked grocery store shelves trying to find a good substitute. Couldn't find anything close in calories to anytime bars. When I'm at home I'll eat yogurt; I'm looking for something portable.

Even though I buy the Detour bars I don't think they are an even substitute for Anytime bars...more calories and less vitamins. They have lots of protein and fiber though so I continue to take vitamin supplements daily to make up for it. You can substitute cottage cheese, milk, 2 lean meats, or yogurt for the anytime bar I believe....lately I've been taking cottage cheese and baby carrots and celery to work for my snack instead of the bar. Nice substitute...

Still struggling with crazy overeating of carbs and sugary snacks..I never thought I'd find myself in this place! It's like I give in the moment the slightest craving hits me with no thought to the consequences...at that moment I don't care!

I am 6 lbs up from goal weight!!!! Scary to admit......and very embarrassing to have to write this but I don't want to hide and pretend that all is well. I am focusing on today and only today...with my goal to get through one day at a time without going off my program...I haven't given up and I know 6 lbs isn't even close to the 64 lbs I lost...but I don't dare go higher and I need to start inching downward now. I'll let you know how I'm doing in a day or two...keep me in your prayers!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Philippians 4:13

I understand where you're coming from. My scale is not the most accurate for a digital one. It's accurate enough for me. Last weekend we went to visit family and of course ate out a lot. I had a hard time eating right and enjoyed some foods I haven't had for a while. I put on a couple pounds which I lost once I got back home and had better control over what I ate. It is so easy to put a few pounds on. I will still try to get under 140 but it will be hard. You have my prayers; you can do it.

Hi Laura — I have been following your blog since you started right after your Vegas trip and I feel compelled to offer a link that may provide you some help or inspiration.

The link is to the "Beck Diet Solution" website, specifically to Dr. Beck's blog. There are several short blogs written by Dr. Beck that you may find useful, insightful and/or inspirational. The blogs I read that hit home for me and also had me think of you are entitled:

"In Session with Debbie: Breaking up with Food"

"In Session with Debbie: Overeating Dinner"

In Session with Debbie: Cravings Script"

http://www.beckdiets...-solution-blog/

I want to impart one more thing from The Beck Diet Solution  "The course of maintenance frequently follows the same course as dieting. It's easier in the beginning, at some point it gets more difficult, and then it gets easier again. It stays easier most of the time, with intermittent periods when it's more difficult. It's important for you to have this expectation, or you'll be disappointed when maintenance occasionally requires more effort. If you don't realize that this is normal, you might get discouraged, put in less effort, and then regain weight." Things will get easier!

I believe in you Laura and I hope I haven't offended you are pushed to hard with the Beck Diet Solution.

Thank you ladies for your responses...I really do appreciate it! I am down 1.4 lbs this morning..now 4.6 above goal. Whew! I made it through yesterday, now focusing on today only!
Thank you Trustinfaith for the Beck Diet Solution link..Iots of useful info there! I will read it again this morning and let it all sink in. I will be buying the book this week..
I especially was comforted by the paragraph you quoted about the ups and downs of this maintenance journey.I was doing so well for so long ( during the losing phase especially) that I was shocked how easy things could turn..now I know it's part of the process of maintaining and it's not going to always be this hard...I can learn from this week and be successful in maintaining my goal weight. I feel better already..

Weighed 146.6 this morning.... Loss of 3.4 so far and 2.6 from getting back to my goal weight. Went to Vegas to celebrate my husbands 61st birthday and did well...along with my Caprese Salad I ate a few bites of a Mozzarella appetizer and 1/2 of a Carrot cake slice...far from bingeing! We ate at the Cake Boss' Restaurant and then picked up some baked goods from his bakery....how could we not? Delicious! Taste everything...finish nothing! I agree with this statement especially when you have the opportunity to eat somewhere or something not always available...a couple of bites is just enough!
Feel so much more in control now. This big weight gain sure taught me a lesson and I sure don't want to ever hit 150 again!
It's so important to weigh often because I didn't see or feel much difference in the way my clothes were fitting. Imagine if I had waited until my clothes were tight before I decided to stop overeating? Easily a 10-15 lb gain to have reached that point! Now that's scary! Weighing myself every day is a must for me.
Looking forward to the holidays and going to start decorating the house for Chrismas today. A little early maybe but I just can't wait! Lots going on in the next two months so I am going to try to keep stress free and eat healthy, get down to under goal, and enjoy my favorite time of year...

Laura glad to hear you back on track. I haven't been trying hard to lose those last few pounds.I do the same with nibbling on some goody. I'm always afraid that my nibbling is more than what I want because I will nibble on more than one thing and that adds up. I just got to get motivated again. Easier said than done. Congrats on your weight loss.
