Well, I've been on Jenny Craig for 7 months and have lost exactly 8 pounds. I have followed the diet carefully and exercise for 30 minutes every day on a stationary bike, on top of trying to walk more and moving around doing things like housework.  I need to lose about 95 pounds, so at this rate I'll be on Jenny for about 5 years before I reach the half way point.
At this point I'm so discouraged that I'm about ready to quit completely.

If you have been on JC for 7 months with 95lbs to loose you should have lost 8lbs in your 1st month. Either you need a trip to your dr. to check your thyroid or just to have your blood work checked or there isn't full disclosure from you.

i would ask what your consultant has said at this point, what kind of things are you reviewing at your weekly weigh ins, i would imagine that your consultant would be concerned at this time and offering other suggestions, like your water intake and the calorie plan that you are on.

Can you give us some insights to this?  because if you are eating the JC food and supplementing as outlined on your calorie plan with fruit and veggies, you should be losing each month

A doctor check up is always good as well when we are on this journey to make sure you are firing on all cylinders!

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the suggestions.

I had my thryoid checked about a year ago, turned out to be 3.6 which apparently is in the normal range.  But then I've hear that thyroid tests are often inaccurate.  I'm one of about 60,000 people in my province who doesn't have a family doctor which makes it harder.  The doctors at the walk in clinic just keep saying eat less and exercise more, but I'm already doing that.

My JCC is very nice, but all she says is "What do you need to be successful".  Wish I knew the answer!

I take bottled water to work and make sure I drink it throughout the day.  I have got to the point where I don't eat the fruit serving at breakfast, or the salad at lunch, don't have an afternoon snack, and have cut out the JC dessert, in order to cut calories.  When I was in my twenties, in order to maintain my weight (about 124 pounds, considered within a normal BMI for my height) I could only eat one meal a day.

And Dijarm as for "full disclosure", it's not like I haven't slipped now and again.  I imagine everyone has at some point, but mine have been few and far between, I'm talking maybe once or twice a month, and something like having a restaurant meal with a friend and not counting calories.

Thanks for the full discloser, now it looks like you may not be eating enough calories. You need to eat all the required foods and NOT skip the snacks. You have to eat at regular intervals and get all your food group/exchanges serving in! the biggest myth in weight loss is that if you try starving yourself you will lose. Yes, temporarily but it is more important to eat properly> Please try adding those foods back in!! Keep up the exercise and water drinking!!

i know when i upped my water intake i saw a great difference in my losing and i have to say that at times i have missed a fruit or a veggie because i simply was not hungry but have to remind myself that i am supposed to eat that because there is a method to the madness of how all the foods work together.  Not eating can cause your body to shut down and not lose because it thinks it is being starved.

Thanks for sharing with us and being open to ideas and suggestions, that is what these forums are all about.

hope things turn around for you and let us know how things go in the next weeks
