I am struggling fellow JC'ers.  My name is Hope, I'm a 26yo 5ft 2in college student and have been a member since February 2013, I started at 227/8 and was down to 198lbs last fall but am back up to 204 as of Friday.  I do each of the following 2x a week, zumba, kardio kickbox, weights, & body pump, I know muscle weighs more than fat etc... but this past week I went up from 201 to 204!!! On plan and everything, how do you stay positive and on plan when you are seeing negative results.

My consultant is talking to the nutrition team to see what to do because I am at my wit's end add in the cost of the food/program it is even more frustrating.

I graduate with my undergrad May 17th, the goal was and still is to be securely under 200lbs, I was 203 when I graduated high school in 2007 and gosh darnit I want to be less than that and under 200.

I need whatever you can give me in the form of pointers, support, just anything, that feeling of 'I'm never going to meet my goal and am damned to be fat my whole life' is creeping in on me.

Goal Weight: short term: 150lbs

                      long term:  115-125 +/-

Current Weight:

                         Was 201 now 204

If you're doing a lot of exercise, it may be possible that you're not eating enough. I really doubt you gained 3 lbs in a week, unless you're keeping something from us, so it's likely just water retention! Keep drinking water and wait to see what your JCC says :)

Try not to focus on the number on the scale for awhile. Maybe use fitness goals for a short time instead. For example, make it a goal to go a longer time with out needing a break. You can do this!!!

i would also check your measurements and see if there is a change there - compare to the last time you took them - you could be losing inches since you are doing all the exercise.

Get your thyroid checked, and ask for more than a TSH test, ask them to do a Free T3 test.

I gained 30 lbs following Weight Watchers faithfully and working out..........and it was my thyroid.

I hear the frustration in your voice!!!  I too am struggling with weight loss and the gym!  I joined a gym and have been doing spin class, yoga, and cardio 4 times a week for the past month.  My weight has not budged!!  I'M REALLY TIRED OF THIS!  I love working out, and with my addictive personality, I may become an exercise junky!  I won't lie...I haven't been perfectly on plan, but at most, I cheat 1-2 meals per week, which I KNOW don't exceed the number of calories I'm burning in the gym.  I'm on the verge of conceding that I'm just destined to be fat.....

Hope and rx, I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. I definitely agree with getting an appointment. Thyroid could be the culprit, but there can be many other reason such as medications you are taking. Only your provider can give you an answer because it's their job to take a look at the whole picture to figure it out (which obviously cannot be done on a forum.) Hopefully your provider does a good job of asking all the right questions and taking a good history, and doing a good physical exam. If you feel like they are not doing all these things, get a second opinion.
You will get there!

I hate to hear that Kiki!  Perhaps you can take a few weeks and eat 100% on track without cheats to see how it effects your loss?  Maybe the cheats are doing a lot more harm than you think?  for a while there in November and December I was cheating a lot.  And it never seemed too bad but my weigh ins showed it.  When I'd lose .1 or .4 or even a gain.  I hated it.  So I had to take a step back and look at what I was eating with open eyes and get back on plan 100% with their foods to see what was going on.  And it's what I needed to jump start the weight loss.

I went to JC today and my JCC increased my calories from 1200 to 1500 and told me to eat 1700 on the days that I work out!  I'm hoping that this works!  She said that since I'm burning 750-1000 calories 4-5 times a week, I'm not eating enough.  We'll see....

Spinning burns a heck of a lot of calories, I'd believe it!
