Hi Meggy!

Have you tried drinking a bottle of water mixed with sugar and calorie free crystal light? It's sweet.... and free!

Otherwise you can peel and slice an apple in very thin slices, fan them out on a plate, sprinkle with a bit of splenda and microwave the whole thing for 1-2 min or until slightly tender. You can add cinamon if you like!

Have you made any smoothies yet? When I first started JC I would use one milk, banana, few strawberries and a couple packets of artifical sweetener. If you blend this with some ice you get something sweet AND some volume to fill up your tummy.  It got me through the initial week or two but I might start making them again. I kinda forgot about them.!

Smoothie sounds yummy...im allergic to banannas...what else would work?  I have had a good amount of fruit already today...I also thought about having a jenny dessert, but it is not on my menu for today...should I avoid that?

Well... generally you should try and stick with what your menu recommends.

Then again: before you pig out on a bag of chips or a whole bucket of icecream by all means: have the JC dessert and enjoy every single bite!

Stick with one dessert though! And be aware that you will have to cut it out of another day. I know it's tough...

A lot of people use frozen grapes as a go to thing. They let them melt in their mouth. It's refreshing, sweet and low in calories if you dont eat the whole bag in one sitting.

The grapes are a great idea. You could use lite coolwhip as your limited extras and mix them up with the grapes. I also eat sf jello with a little ff coolwhip.

As far as the smoothies go, you will have to experiment with different fruits. Some have more sweetness in them. That's why I suggested bananas. If you can't eat them, try chopping up an apple. They will be sweeter than some fruits. If the smoothie is too sour, add more sweetener until you get the recipe that you like best.

Hi MeggyBear - I often look for something sweet too - so my solution is JELLO!  There are several varieties of sugar free jello.  I make a couple of  batches up on Sundays, pour into single serving tupperware containers to keep them handy and then I have Jello ready for the week.  They are a FREE food.  Sometimes I add a couple of tablespoons of sugarfree 95% fat free cool whip  (3 tbsp is a limited free on JC)  and away I go!      All the girls at the office make jello for themselves now too.  :D At 5 calories per serving, it satisfies the sweet craving and I feel like I had dessert and it is just enough to satisfy the craving.

One great idea I discovered recently is dessert hummus! Yes, it looks like chocolate chip cookie dough and sounds delicious! Let me see if my internet will let me look up the recipe for you:

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Dessert Hummus

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups chickpeas
  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/2 Tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Drain, measure, wash, and peel your chickpeas. Peeling them isn’t absolutely necessary but it makes for the creamiest hummus and really is worth the effort.

In a food processor, add the first 4 ingredients and process until the hummus is smooth and emulsified(the one thing no one wants for dessert is chunky chickpea pieces in their dessert).

If that doesnt satisfy, I agree that you can eat your JC Dessert tonight. Although it looks like these tips are for your next sweet tooth attack. (I am pretty sure all my teeth are sweet tooths) Hehe.  Another option is Skinny cow ice creams. They are low in calories and are a great summer snack. But remember to add them into your daily calorie count/menu.  WW also makes some pretty good ice cream, but I'm a skinny cow ice cream fan myself:)

One of my go-to favorites is to take my Crystal Light or Mio and get one of those ice pop forms (you can get them online, or at Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. in the kitchen department). They're plastic and you can freeze your favorite flavor and you have FREE ice pops!!!!!

OK, as for the Tootsie Roll Pop, it's about 60 calories. Is it your best choice? Nope. But it's also not the worse.

Now, as for the smoothies, yes, you can use whatever fruits you want (but if you hit your quota today just keep that in mind for another day). I made some with mango and strawberries or peaches or a combination of fruits - whatever you want. Experiment until you find a flavor you like.

Personally that's the way I usually had my milk and fruit. It was soooooooo much more satisfying and filling and I enjoyed it much more that way than actually eating the fruit. Yes, sometimes I had the fruit in it's natural form but if I was having "one of those days" I would DEFINITELY make up a smoothie.

Oh, and another one that helped a lot was making up flavored iced tea! There are soooooo many flavors out there. (Buy one of those multi-packs if you want to experiment to see which flavors you like.)

It feels like a real treat and, again, it's FREE!!!! :)

Oh, and don't forget sugar free gum. You can't eat if you're chewing. ;)

Hope that helps! :)
