I've been off jenny for awhile now as I'm trying to do my own thing and wanted to ask you about cereal which is one of my favorite foods to eat for breakfast. Can you please tell me if I stick to a 1200 calorie plan per day, what should I look for when buying a cereal in terms of total fat and sugar content?. I would of course have this with 1 cup fat-free lactaid milk which is 90 calories. When I was doing jenny I usually had the cranberry almond cereal...what is that equivalent to in terms of how many cups that was for the packet?. Because I want to know when I eat cereal, how many cups do I put in the bowl so I don't overeat and what should I look for when buying cereal...how many calories and sugar content should I look out for?. Thanks!

Important things to look at when choosing a cereal would be the portion size per serving (located on the nutrition label, usually towards the top), total calories, fiber and whole grains.
While looking at the nutrition label determine how many cups equalls one serving. Depending on the calories you would like will determine how many servings you can have. Fiber should be more than 2 grams per serving. Whole wheat or whole oat should be one of the first few ingredients listed in the label.
You may want to meet with a dietitian to help you to plan a menu of food items you prefer.
Best wishes!
