Hello everyone,

My name is Dana im 32yrs old, I am on my 2nd week of JC, 1st week I lost 5.6lbs!! :D I am nervous the scale is going to stay the same this week. I find the hardest part of the day for me is snacking at night. Does anyone have any suggestions for zero or low calorie snacks (besides fruit and veg) ? I am trying to keep the cost down so I am not buying JC snacks

Thanks for the support
Dana

I buy the 100 calorie snacks in the grocery store. One of my favorites is Jolly Time healthy pop popcorn in 100 calorie bags

I freeze my yogurt and eat it like ice cream at night. It's yummy and takes a while to eat so I feel satisifed.

I know this includes fruit, but go with me here. When I eat after bedtime (2200), I need to keep the snacks very small and low in calorie or i'll hinder my losses. I cut up a banana and put 2 tbsp reduced fat cool whip on it (limited free). It was pretty darn good.

My go-to snack (especially after I've eaten my entire menu for the day) is Strawberry jello cups! They are 10 calories each so are considered a free. Top it with a limited free like 2 tbsp of lite cool whip (25 cal) and it's a yummy slice of late-night snacking heaven!

I also like Jolly Time Popcorn in the mini bags, I prefer the Kettle Corn version. It's only 100 calories for a lot of volume! (Pops up to about 5 cups worth!)

I've saved one of my fruits or used my free fruit option and do a baked apple. I will peel and slice an apple, spread some cinnamon, splenda and tiny bit of splenda brown sugar on it and will saute it up with a smidge of water. tastes like the filling of a pie.

f I haven't eaten my snack for the day, I'll put the sliced apples, cinamon and sugre in a little ramikin and will crumble up some cookies to put on top and bake it for 1/2 hour or so - like an apple crisp. I've used the jenny toffee cookies, lorna doon shortbread cookies (100 calorie pack). So yummy! even my son has joined in on these and wants this as a desert.

Welcome Dana! Congrats on the 5.6 lbs lost....thats awesome!!!

Late night snacker here too  I like Skinny Cow Icecream, icee pops, or fudgesicles for a low cal nite time treat. The Jello cups and cool whip are really good too. I usually try to save my snacks for the evening, instead of having them during the day.

Welcome to Jenny. Congratulations on your great weight loss. I also save my snack for when I sit down at night. 100 calorie snacks, weight watchers cakes and my milk and last fruit.

It's not food but a beverage, sugar free hot chocolate, made with water is sometimes satisfying enough to carry me through an evening

I too love the sugar free hot chocolate with a dab of light whip creamed!! Mmmmm, and the warmth of it helps me feel full! If I'm having one of those "hungry nights" I will grab a 100 cal bag of Smart Pop, Ketlle Corn to munch on!

Tonight, I ate a Skinny Cow Mint Ice Cream Sandwich for my night snack. MMMMMMmmmmm... It was so good I was very very sorely tempted to eat a 2nd one immediately. I was seriously *this* close! I thought "Eh, I've been good this week, and I haven't indulged in a while, besides, it's the last one in the box, and those things are so seriously yummy, one was not enough..."

BUT!

I stopped myself. Just because I'm being good doesn't mean I can be BAD. So I tucked it out of sight in the freezer for another night. To shut up the "munchies" monster I grabbed 2 sugar-free popsicles instead! They are 15 cal each, so they don't break the calorie bank. It's a GREAT sweet snack if you're looking for something extra! This is exactly why I keep them on hand. :)

If you are not eating your snacks, make sure you are incorporating 1 fat and 1 starch each day, you can look in your volumetrics guide for ideas, also on the last page of that guide and on the back of your menu there is a list of free foods like sugar free jello and ice pops. You can also make your own ice pops with water and crystal light or something. Please talk to your consultant.

I'm afraid I can't help you here. If I start any kind of snack at night (even if it' healthy) something switches in my brain and I just eat more and more. Ugh.

You could alway save your snack or a yogurt for a late night snack.

I have found myself in the baby food aisle at the grocery store. You would be surprised at the lo-cal, zero trans fat, lo-sodium munchies that are there. They are also vitamin packed.
The cheddar and garden vegetable munchies by Gerber are my favorites. (30 cals for 18 pieces= 1 serving) and there are 6 servings in a can. So if you get carried away that is a mere 180 calories as opposed to a frightening 500 calories if you overindulge in the grown-up versions.
This is not giving a license to overindulge and you won't if you make up individual baggies based upon how many calories you want to consume.

For me, I have to take it really easy on the snacks while I'm trying to lose weight. If I eat more than the snacks listed on the menu, it really hinders my weight loss. I always save my Jenny snacks and my anytime bar for my eve. snack. I had to give up all the other free stuff like the 10 cal Jello Gelatin and the 60 cal Jello pudding and the cool whip. I was over indulging in the cool whip, so REALLY watch that. Also, limit bananas to one small a day, at least for me, I have to not have any! Talk to your JCC about what you are choosing as snacks, especially if you hit a plateau! Make sure she knows what your extras are!
