According to BodyMedia, I currently have an activity target of 2582. When I am busy at work, meeting this number is not an issue at all. However, I have struggled to reach my target for the last few weeks and have started Couch to 5K (ugh, I am NOT a runner).

On the "off" days, I still have a hard time getting enough activity in because I am a little sore and am picky about doing exercise that doesn't register (ex. bike riding, pilates).

Housecleaning has become my friend as it adds up in the activity column, as does grocery shopping. I am wondering what other JC'ers do to meet their targets?

I literally used to force myself to meet the weekend or non work days goal. But even little things can add up. I live in an apartment complex and I used to walk up and down the stairs, a few laps around the hallways and things like that. Also, if you have a PlayStation 3 or Wii buy one of those Just Dance games. They are a lot of fun and you will burn some calories in the process. I'm currently not using the band but used it last year for 6 months.

If I am below at the end of the day, I stand in front of the tv and just march in place swinging my arms... I am sure I look like a moron, but it works! :)

I recently bought a treadmill so I try to run every day to help meet my target. However, just to change things up and keep it interesting, I have several games on the Wii that I use to help - cardio dance, cardio boxing - I'll even pull out the Tiger Woods golf or bowling to get movement in. My 4 year old daughter has fun with them too, so I get the added bonus of teaching her healthier activities and getting her moving.

Goofy or not that's a great idea! I knew someone who did that and she called it "army" - sometimes she would hold cans of food in her hands to add some light weights. It helped her lose 40 lbs!

Yesterday, I did not feel like working out and put on an hour tv show from TIVO.. I just marched in place and fast forwarded through the commercials (so it was probably about 40 mins). Before I knew it, I was 150 extra cals over my burn target. Before if I didn't work out (ie.. go to the gym or a martial arts class), I just sat on the couch and felt guilty. How crazy! lol

Cheers, Gretchen
