I love to take my morning cereal with me and the Triple Grain Crisps and Multi Grain Hoops are great for that. But they are expensive when you think about how, with some advance planning, you can buy a whole box and repackage into serving-sized zip lock baggies. Has anyone worked out which grocery store cereals are comparable exchanges? Before JC, I ate Kashi and figure that might still be good for the triple grains and maybe Multigrain Cheerios for the Hoops?

I like the Kashi since it gives you the protein you need as well as grains, fibre and flax.

Jennybeth, I am certainly not purchasing the JC cereals anymore, I like Kashi Go Lean and they are more for less calories. So for certain two days a week or so I will be having that cold cereal. Like you I also enjoy cereal in the morning.

I eat 1/2 cup plain cheerios mixed with 1/2 cup kashi go lean original. I can't eat a whole cup of the kashi - it puts my stomach in knots. But the mix is yummy and the kashi adds so much protein. :)

I use Kashi go lean original (not the crunch). It has 140 cals per cup and 13 gram protein and 10 gr fiber. You'll get about 7 servings from the box. I actually weigh it out on a scale and if I have a really long run that morning, I use 1.5 cups. If you use a different cereal that is high fiber (many choices out there), pair it with a plain greek yogurt which will get you 13-15 grams of protein to really keep you full. There are some really yummy cereals out there -- my problem is I love cereal and have to be careful about dipping into the extra I have. Sounds funny, but when I had individual bags of complete start (which they discontinued), I would only open ONE of course because I had 7 for the week...but with the Kashi (which is the closes nutritionally to the complete start), I can always go out and buy more. I've gotten better at it, so just make sure you can handle the temptation of extra cereal around.

I buy my own cereals at the grocery store, and keep my eyes on the labels for something about 120 calories or LESS per serving. I like Cascadian Farms Organic Honey Nut O's, and the FiberOne 80 Calorie Honey Squares cereal.

The sugar grams in the tiny packets of the JC cereal is outrageous as well as the price they charge. I pretty much eat any cereal I want...I just watch the sugar grams & fat.....I LOVE the chocolatey delight Special K & have it alot of times at night for my snack & they have a yogurt one too...also the Fiber One cereal is very good....the new peanut butter cheerios are delicious. I eat 3/4 to 1 cup of all the cereals. 4 pounds to go to goal!!
