Well, as a Platinum Member, it was a no-brainer to come back to Jenny again after all these years. But, as I start my second week, I feel humiliated that I'm here again, having to recommit, and at my highest weight ever. I had lost a lot of weight years ago with Jenny, and then I returned to Jenny in 2002 after my kids were born to get back to a healthier weight, but my dad was diagnosed with cancer shortly after that, and I completely blew my commitment to taking care of myself. Now, all these years later, and after my dad passed away, I realize that I didn't take care of myself at all. I have two adolescent daughters, and I want to model healthy habits for them, but I'm worried that I won't be able to stick with it. I'm still taking care of my mom, and always over-busy with my job and with volunteer work for my kids. I keep feeling like a failure, because I let myself get to this current weight. I just need to keep hearing the words, "This will work if you stick with it." I need reassurance that it does work, and that it will work, even for me. Just feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, although I had a pretty good first week success with a reasonable drop in weight. The finish line just seems so far away...

I too have returned after 9YEARS. Is it easy NO. But I want to do this because I did it before and I have tried other things and this has been the only thing that works for ME. I want to loose the weight and I am back. I am in 100% are you?

Rett and Gigie, welcome back to Jenny. Yes, at times it is hard but knowing that you are taking care of yourself and setting an example for your kids will give you the motivation to succeed. Rett, I do alot of volunteering and attend activities with my granddaughter, so I always have to remember when I leave the house to bring my water, pack a snack, fruits and veggies, so that I don't get in a position of being hungry and grabbing for the wrong thing. That may help you in your situation of helping your mom and your kids. Also, I'm sorry about your dad and hope your mom is well. You have alot on your plate but remember to take care of yourself first. Good luck and much success to both of you.

Welcome back Rett and Gigie! I also had to return last year after four years of keeping the weight off (I also initially gained the weight when my husband was diagnosed with cancer and blessedly survived)and saw the scale go up 10 lbs. because I made some dumb choices But it came off and I really used my time back on the program to REALLY pay attention to what the plan is and to reinforce how I have to look at food now and for the rest of my life.

So this time use it as a learning experience and remember that the numbers you see on the scale today will be the last time you will EVER have to see them. :)

And remember that even when you're taking care of others, you really have to take care of yourself first. (Just like when you're on a plane and they tell you that if the oxygen masks should come down, put your's on first before helping others.) Because if you don't take care of yourself, you'll eventually be unable to take care of others. So do it for yourself because YOU are worth it. And then do it for others because you want to/need to. But YOU should always come first.

And like Paulette said (Ocmimi) make sure you have healthy veggies and snacks with you so that you're always prepared. Drink your water, eat ALL of your food, exercise and come to the boards. We're all here and we all want to support your LAST time on JC! :)

I agree with all the poster's responses... I just have to add: for the vast majority of the people on these forums and in your JC Centre... I am willing to bet this 'isn't their first rodeo' when it comes to their weight loss journey. I was within a few lbs of my goal just a year ago, and have put on 25 lbs in the last 6 months due to stressful family and work situation/travel and just making the wrong choices when choosing how to deal with the stress. We are all human, and all in this together.

Best to all of you!

Hey Rett, don't beat yourself up. Many of us including myself still have the dramas and trials that seem to suck all the caring for ourselfs, out of us. But, if not now, when? Just stick with us, come back often. I notice when I don;t come back here to the group, is the times that are the worst for me. I was doing gangbusters for 2 weeks and then daughter drama and aches and pains. I beat my self up all week but am prepared to keep going. We have to! And for many of us slightly more, um mature or aged like a fine wine, it is a matter of move it or lose it..meaning exercise.

so, take a deep breath, think positive and take small bites in everything, food and exercise and small wins.
many blessings

Wow! You are wonderful people to respond so quickly and with so much encouragement! This is why I wanted to do this again. I love the support, and I also explained to my kids that I'm on Jenny because I need help. I told them that this is an example of asking for help when you need it - which is far better than stumbling along alone and making even more mistakes.

I LOVE the idea that this is the last time I'll ever have to see those numbers on the scale!! That's great, and I'm going to make that my catch phrase.

Thanks to all, and best wishes, too!

Hi Rett, I'm coming back to JC after 4 years, and feeling much the same way as you. In the past 4 years, I've moved once, had a second baby, had 2 major surgeries... you get the idea. Life happens! We can't beat ourselves up for going into "survival mode" every once in a while. But hey, we're getting back in the saddle, right? In my mind, that's the important thing! :)

This will work if you stick with it. This will work if you stick with it. This will work if you stick with it.....

Is that enough times for you? I know manthony72 had the same idea up there, but I figured a few more repetitions couldn't hurt. ;) Or how about this one, it's one of my favorites...

It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it! It works if you work it!!!!!

I'll type it as many times as you need for it to sink in! Focus on the small goals as you stay on track. Repeat encouraging mantras when you find yourself flagging. Don't give up, don't be overwhelmed, you can DO THIS! :D

Hi Rhett

As a fellow returnee, I will just tell you to remember that first milestone you've set up. Rather it be 5 lbs 10 lbs or even just 2 lbs. Once you've hit that milestone, "party". If you can do something nice for yourself, a massage, nails done, something like that. And get it in the habit of celebrating the small victories as you head towards that goal.
JC start Feb 11 - 212 lbs
JC break Aug 11 - 172 lbs
JC start Feb 12 - 186 lbs
Goal 130 lbs
