I'm headed out soon to pick my son up from a friends house in town and guess what other awful little duty I get to do?? Well, being that's it's Superbowl Sunday, I have to pick up snack foods (all of which I can't touch) for my husband and kids. Should be interesting. I would make him, my husband go do it, but he has to get some studying in before the Superbowl which I understand. I'm going to need a lot of strength and will power today!

So, what are you all planning for the day? What are your temptations, how will you resist? Or will you say, forget it, it's just one day?

Actually I'm doing the set up for a community Super Bowl party myself and I also had to choose the menu and pick up the food.

So while there will be popcorn chicken (and popcorn for that matter) along with the usual array of cookies, cakes, chips, dips, etc., I made sure I also added veggies and fruit to the menu with some FF dips. (Hey, if I have to work, I'm going to at least have something for myself to eat.) :)

Well, I'm not a football fan so we never really do anything for Superbowl Sunday. However, I woke up just feeling rebellious I guess, 'cause I had a completely off day. The whole day. I had Dunkin Donuts for breakfast, snacked my way through lunch on popcorn and pita chips and had Little Caesar's pizza for dinner. Awful, but at least I still had a small calorie deficit according to my armband because I was up and about most of the day.

Strangely enough, though, I'm not really beating myself up over it. This is the first time I've just thrown the whole Jenny rulebook out the window for a day in 9 months. I figure if it's gonna happen, better to have it happen all in one day and get it over with so I can get back on the plan. I'm in full "penance mode" today!

I was good all day and was running around alot setting up the Super Bowl party for the building. But when the game started, I did have a few more glasses of wine than I had planned and ate some things that I haven't eaten in over a year. But, with all the planning and jumping around and doing my special Giants dance, I wound up reaching my calorie burn without doing any formal exercise yesterday. I had a great time and it looks like I only gained a few ounces from retaining water so now off I go for my 5 mile walk and will probably do some strength exercises.

Unlike you guys, my scale was DEFINITELY up this morning even though I ran around all day shopping, setting up, breaking down and cleaning up after a party. However, since I can't even budge my ring (it's usually close to falling off my hand), I know it's MOSTLY water weight. But I'm up 2.5 lbs. so I'll flush out my system today and be REALLY good until that scale goes down again.

I guess it was a few too many chips, wine, Swedish meatballs and popcorn chicken. Oops. :P

But since I'm back on track, hopefully the scale will return to my goal weight in a day or two.

Super Bowl Sunday just plain equals Super Swollen Monday! My rings won't budge either, Phyllis. I'm on my 9th glass of water and it's only 1:30 in the afternoon. :)

I was pretty good last night, but far from perfect. I picked the three things I wanted to eat most and had a small helping of each. On a plate! No endless picking here and there so I have no idea how much I ate. I'm sure the fat, sodium, and calories were worse than I'm used to now, and my body did rebel with some heartburn and indigestion, but I'm proud of myself that I didn't go hog wild and eat whatever was in front of me just because it was the superbowl. :)

I'm back on plan today and not weighing myself til tomorrow. ;)

One bummer last night was that I saw several people I haven't seen in a while, and not one person said anything about my weightloss. Isn't 19lbs showing any difference at all? :(

There was a huge party on my floor, but I only stopped by and didn't eat anything. I'm not a big football fan, so it wasn't that bad for me.

I did talk to my friend, though, about how I normally would've handled this. I would've used any excuse as an excuse. I said to her: "I just want to be like, 'It's the Super Bowl, so I'm going to eat a pizza made of feelings.' But I'm drinking Naked Juice and watching 30 Rock instead because I want to be skinny. :("

@phyllis: I'm so glad you said that! My scale was up too but only by 4 tenths of a pound, so all in all, not bad.We ate pretty healthy foods at my friends superbowl party since both I and her husband are on a diet. However, since I didn't make the food, I didn't have total control over everything. Since I usually weigh my food and all that, I'm attributing the gain to variables in the food. It's alright, I'll drink lots of liquids today and make sure my calorie count is on point.

I'm very glad I'm not the only one though!

aw....I feel for you!!! I wanted my older kids to notice this weekend, even if it was just to say that I'd loss some bloatedness in my face, but it didn't happen yet. I would think that 19 # would show big time; I bet others didn't want to come off as rude or something though. People are funny that way; like it could be an awkward moment if you say something.........that's the only thing I could figure..........don't let it get in your way! You are back on track and I bet your swollenness will soon be gone drinking all that water! Don't float away, lol

Mindy,

I'm sorry that happened to you and have a similar experience.

I think some folks just don't have it in them to verbalize that someone looks better, has lost weight, etc. I have a woman who owns a unit in our building and comes down every weekend. She is an avid exerciser and weighs next to nothing even though she is older. She looks great and when I see her I compliment her on her clothes, ask for exercise tips and she is always willing to give them to me and seems to be appreciative that I compliment her. However, it has been over a year and I have lost over 25 pounds and it is noticable. However, it wasn't until yesterday that I saw her and she actually said "have you lost weight" and also asked my friend if she lost weight. We have both lost weight and its been for a while and this is the first time she has mentioned it. Some folks are just funny about such things.

Wow - looks like just about everyone had problems on Superbowl Sunday. My rings were swollen too. I did great through the holidays with just a little problem on New Years eve but I too had the Superbowl Monday blues...what's with that! Unfortunately, I didn't stop at Sunday - I ate leftovers on Monday. :(

I'm leaving today to go out of town for work. I'm planning to be on track for the trip. I won't back on the boards until Friday.

I survived Superbowl Sunday without problems! I think it helped that we didn't have outside guests come over this year. It was just my husband and kids and one of my sons friends. LOL, I mostly purchased things I didn't personally care, but that they liked, like BBQ ribs, breaded chicken patty sandwiches, chicken strips, etc.... I bought a veggie tray and a small fruit tray so that I could have something to enjoy. It also helped that my husband didn't drink this year, he had college courses in the AM. So, alcohol was no temptation either!

Philly steak and cheese dip. ^_^ I wasn't planning on it, but my family requested this meal. I thought about being selfish and saying, "I'm on a diet, so you're all out of luck!" I didn't. Instead, I prepared the meal and then just decided not to fight the temptation because it would have put me in a bad mood. I ate it, and still added a salad in an attempt to get super full. I didn't do any snacking, but I did have an additional sandwich for dinner instead of my JC entree. Since then, I've been on track. I weigh in tomorrow, and I'm curious to see the results. ~thinking positive thoughts!
