Which do you do and which do you prefer?

I currently do the Jenny @ Home program, but to help save the $70/month shipping, I was thinkg of changing over to the center. However, the center is about an hour drive. I called today and they said it is actually more beneficial to go to the center and see someone face to face. I have 3 kiddos and a very busy life so this would be quite difficult for me. But if it is worth it, I will make it a priority.

So please share your opinions, experiences, the good, the bad, and the ugly! Thx so much!!

I need the centre. I drive 1 1/2 hours each way to my centre but I need to have that face to face accountability. I book an early appt. so I am able to be home before noon if need be. I used to drive it by myself or take someone along and make it a shopping day too, but now I have a friend who goes to JC too so we take turns driving which makes it nicer and helps with the expense of driving. We then make a run to Costco to buy our veggies and fruit, etc. and run errands if we need to before heading home. We just take our coolers and load them up with ice packs and the food stays fine. Your shipping costs would be replaced with gas costs but if you make it a time for errands/groceries too that would help.

I am at at home client - the nearest center is about 25 minutes away and I did not want to do the drive every week for a 15 minute consult.

I was able to join this past summer when they had a promo for at home clients where there was free shipping on the food - so I don't pay the shipping fees. If I did I would probably go to the center and work some errands in at the same time to justify the drive.

As far as a face to face vs phone consult - I think it just depends on the consultant you get. I have no problem with the phone consult and i can weigh first thing in the morning with no clothes on.

I started week 2 today and I lost 6lbs during week 1. I am a Jenny @ home girl and I love my consultant. I lead a very busy lifestyle and Jenny @ home is the best option for me. I have a JC location 5 minutes away but I agree with Nancy ^ I weighed my self on with a shirt and panties- I feel clothes count LOL! Plus my consultant allows me to email or call her if I ever have a melt down moment which I haven't yet, Again its only week 2 but today is Super Bowl Sunday and I am making Chili for the guys. I will be enjoying my JC Chili with them.

Good luck to everyone!!!!!!! :D

I am an at home client. A friend of mine who originally got me to thinking about JC had been a client going to the nearest center --- 1 hour away. She felt it was necessary and it kept her on track with that sit down. I am doing just fine practically waiting with baited breath for my weekly phone call, lol......it's all about what is WORKING! I do understand the additional cost with shipping, but if it isn't covenient (timewise), then going to the center may not be the best choice either. If you are stressed for time already and then you add that stressor.....it could be detrimental instead. You have to decide. Now, if you are having a difficult time staying on track while doing the at home program, it could help to switch!
Best of luck!

I am just coming back now, but previously I did both. I started out doing the at home program, and did okay, but once I went to the centre, I did much better. For me the face to face meetings with a consultant I clicked with made a big difference in my success. After a couple months, I considered her more a friend who I could talk to about challenges, successes and failures in the weight loss journey. She started to understand me, and really knew how to dig below the basics.. (ie.. did you eat too much ice cream or not exercise enough, etc).. but, to some of my real issues. I am sure not everyone has that experience with their consultants, and I am sad that I cannot go back to her since I moved across the US. I am hoping I have a similar experience with my new consultant.. time will tell. Weight loss is about calories in and calories out, but it is also about the reasons why we are here in the first place. If you have ever watched the "Biggest Loser".. although dramatized, it shows a lot of the emotional and mental reasons behind the physical issues. Just my opinion...

Good luck either way..
Cheers,
Gretchen

Hi, This is day 5 for me. I have been pleased with the food so far. Nervous about the first weigh in on Wed. which will be at home. The nearest center for me is 1 hour away. Because of the distance, cost of shipping and my need to be held accountable on this new journey. I have decided to visit the center every two weeks. I purchased 2 weeks of food and will do a phone consult on week one then travel on week two. Have been off and on low carb diet for a long time. The amount of carbs I am eating now is somewhat scarey. Wondering if anyone has any advice on having a cocktail today for superbowl. Thinkng vodka and diet soda however I dont want to jeopardize my diet! Also having problems not weighing often....Had to put the scales out of sight. How often do you all weigh? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, have a great Sunday,
Renee

That's what I do too Renee, I go to the centre (1 1/2 hrs away) every two weeks and inbetween my consultant calls me. I only weigh prior to her phone call and then not again until I go to the centre. If I am staying on track, I enjoy the element of surprise.

If you have the option, go to a centre. Try out different consultants and find one that fits you. I went through 4 consultants before I settled on the one that helped me. The accountability in a centre is very motivating. Put the scales away ladies and let the element of surprise and satisfaction stimulate your happy self once a week.

I am a center client. I drive about 15 min to the center. I have a small child (3 years old) and i take him with me. Hasn't been a problem...my consultant and the other ladies there always talk to him. I need the one on one face to face, helps keep me accountable. If you do go to a center, change consultants if you don't click with the one they set you up with.
Factor in gas and your time.to see if you will save...You are paying $70 per month for shipping.
You are talking about an average of 8 hours round trip per month - just the driving time - to save $70. Might not add up to a big savings.
Good luck with your decision!

Renee -- I personally can't do the daily weigh in thing. I weigh once a week and resist doing it the rest of the week. For me, I could obsess over it and fret about it and it COULD ruin my day so, once a week when I know I can talk to my JCC about it. Others have said that every day helps them stay on track.......it's what you can feel comfortable with really!

I need the center and the very accurate scales. Plus they tell me about the newest foods.
