Hi! Welcome to the boards!

Does it work? ABSOLUTELY!! But, of course, like anything else, it's not "magic." You have to do the work but they've made it as easy as possible.

I lost 45 lbs. and kept it off (with a short slip where I returned and lost the weight) for about four years. And there are dozens of us on the boards who have also lost the weight and kept it off along with people who are just starting the plan and those who are further ahead and we all support one another - just like we'd like to help you to reach your goals. :)

The food's great and you just have to supply fresh fruit, veggies and dairy. Otherwise, you get to eat great food.

Is it expensive? Well, it's not cheap but when you add up what you REALLY spend on food including snacks, eating out, etc., it's not too bad. On average people spend between $125 to $150 a week (but once you're on the program, there are a few money-saving tips we can offer).

The full membership is around $400 but if you want to try it first, they do have a 30 days for $30 plan (plus the cost of food). Virtually everyone who is on that plan, has stayed because the program works.

On average you'll lose 1-2 lbs. a week. Depending on your age, amount of exercise, how much you have to lose, etc., the number can be a little higher or lower. But, hey, you didn't put the weight on overnight so you can't expect to lose it overnight. Plus, since you may be (like most of us) changing a LIFETIME of bad eating habits, the time to lose is actually a gift because it allows you (and your brain) to get used to this new relationship with food.

And the boards are fantastic! There's a great group of folks here and we all help and support one another.

So take the plunge and go talk to someone at one of the Jenny Craig centers near you (where you'll also get a weekly consultation with a consultant who will help you through your journey) or, if you don't live near a center, call the 800 number and you can have the food shipped to your home and receive telephone consultations.

Do it! It's the best present you will EVER give to yourself. :)

Like Phyllis said, it seems expensive (maybe $550-600 a month for the food). But when I added up the number of times a week I ordered a pizza or Chinese food instead of making something healthy and included the money I spent on my guilty junk food snacks, I was probably spending that much anyway. So it is expensive, but however your wallet feels about the cost, your body will not complain about the change in what you're feeding it. :)

I am considering joining Jenny Craig, but i'm a little on edge about it. Does it really work?

Yes, it does work! Consider that each diet out there can work for different people but the folks here have found that Jenny works best for them. I'm one of those. I've done it all. Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach, 14 Day diet, Zone, Nutrisystem, etc... The only one that works for me is Jenny Craig. I may loose a few pounds on the others but it takes forever and I gain it right back. With Jenny, I lose consistently and I'm not hungry. The combination of one on one consultations, ease of menu planning, and structure are a magic combination for me. I usually keep the weight off easily as well. I'm back now because I've gained back 20 of the pounds that I kept off for years. This is my own fault and is a combination of low activity and eating poorly. I would recommend if you're looking into it, give it a try. I was hesitant the first time I joined because I had so many questions. But, thank God I did because I found something that works for me when nothing else does.

Is the pricing high?

Comparitively, yes. I will admit this is the one drawback of the program. But you're paying for all the services that Jenny includes. Paying for the food is what pays your consultant since there is no weekly consultant fee. If you consider the price of other diets, and fast food that you eat now, it's not that bad. I feel like Jenny is something that I do for myself and it's worth every penny for me. I prioritize it on my spending. I'd rather have Jenny than a new purse, etc... There are things you can do to save money as everyone else said. I also coupon for all the other non-jenny foods I buy to try to keep costs low. I shop at warehouse clubs for produce as I've found they usually have the lowest price.

How long would it take to lose a few pounds?

You usually lose 1-2 lbs a week on jenny. A good, safe, rate. If you start out at a higher weight, you will see bigger numbers as well. I have a lot to loose, so I lost 4lbs in the first week.

I can't say enough good about Jenny. The food is great, and the program just works for me. There are plenty of success stories here and at the centers. You can always talk to a consultant about the program and ask these questions as well. Let me know if you have any more questions.
My Jenny History:
2006: 30lbs lost
2009: 10 lbs lost
2010: 20 lbs lost
January 2012: Came back again to take off the 20lbs I've gained plus more!

I don't know about 30 pounds that quick, usu around 2-3 per week is healthy, but jenny craig really works. I've been on 6 wks now and can't believe I've lost almost 10 pounds despite a few slip ups. I wanted to loose a lot of weight fast too, but in the past that weight's always come back quick and then some extra. Jenny's taught me to make small changes to help sustain over time. Having the meals done for me has allowed me to focus on slowly inc exercise and dealing wuth stress, rather than having to do that and count calories like on other programs. Plus the food is great! There's only a handful of things I didn't like and most of them are things I don't like normally anyway. The consultants are great about helping customize the menus and giving you tips and encouragement. I hope you decide to join and good luck in our weight loss journey!

I can't afford it right now, but I do want to say when I was able to afford it and I was doing it, I lost a ton of weight!!!! I was such a support to others at the center I was asked to work there part time. What I love about it, is that I have all the foods I need to eat, I just follow the menu and I don't even have to think about it. Yes, you have to work out and it isn't going to be totally easy, but how good you feel after losing a few pounds and how proud of yourself you will be will be worth everything!!!!!!!! =) Good luck!
