Wow, not sure what my problem is tonight, but I feel awful, and over something so stupid. My husband went to night classes tonight and text me that he was picking up pizza for him and the kids. I love pizza. I am not kidding you, I literally started crying as I was eating my Jenny Craig pizza and salad with the same old balsamic dressing :( . I want to eat their pizza so bad! I know this is ridiculous, but I'm being honest. Moments like this make me feel like I am not going to be able to do this, that ultimately in the end, I'm going to fail again.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

You are more important than pizza!!!!

Also try a yogurt based dressing - name brand is Bolthouse. My JC told me about it and I love it. It comes in Ranch, Blue Cheese, and Caesar. About 35 calories per 2 TBL. It really gets me through all the salads.

YOU ARE IMPORTANT AND YOU CAN DO THIS...

Hang in there.

Wow that would be tough - I think I would've cried too! It's different for me because I'm single and have my own place so whatever temptations are around me are of my own doing. I don't have a family to feed and especially have to watch them eat something so delicious! Pizza is one of my weaknesses for sure. But just think of how great you're gonna feel in the morning when you wake up - you'll get to think of how well you did! That's always what I need to keep in mind when I'm faced with a temptation..."How am I going to feel the next day if I eat this". For me, it's having the ability to wake up and realize I'm still on track and one day closer to my goal. I can't stand the feeling of knowing I didn't follow the plan the day before because then I feel like I have to "catch up". So great job and it's perfectly normal to feel bad - let out your feelings and then move on with your new, healthy lifestyle :D

Just hang in there! Try and think of it in another way. Do you want that pizza because you really want to eat junk food? Or do you want that pizza because your hubby and kids all have pizza and you don't, therefore making you feel like an outsider? I fall for this all the time. I may not be hungry, but i will eat when others are eating to feel a part of a group. And that is not a good way to be. Just stick to your plan! It works. Eat your dinner with the others...you can get the benefit of the pizza aroma without the calories and you will still be eating with the group! It may help.

Another thing that may help is thinking about your progress and how great you are going to feel stepping on that scale and knowing you did everything possible to lose something. Then maybe the pizza won't be so tempting.

Good luck!

Try not...Do or do not...There is no try...

I think you did awesome resisting the pizza. I don't think I could have done it. My son brings home pizza after work sometimes. If I've eaten my food for the day, I'm ok. I don't think I could eat a jenny meal while he was eating pizza. You are absolutely on the right track to success, not failure. You rock!

:) Hi Anticipating, first of all congratulations on being honest with yourself. Change isn't an easy process and you will face many challenges and temptations. So yes you may cry from time to time. You are not a baby at all. Stand firm in what you want for yourself and remember that pizza is not banned forever from your life. There will come a time when you can bring it back into your life. But right now you are in training to get to your goal weight. It really is Ok cry because you are releasing the emotion. Have a good cry then pat yourself on the back for standing firm and doing the healthy thing. I wish you a great Friday!!

I know exactly how you feel - and pizza - OMG - it was one of my weekly meals. I can't believe I used to eat half of a large pizza - and pepperoni at that!

But look at what you did - you ate you Jenny pizza - you were strong - STRONG!!!! And you resisted the temptation.
Every time you do that it will get a little easier.

And think about it - later on that evening didn't you feel so good about sticking to the food plan?

You can do this - it is a lifetime change, not just a change for the next few months.
Nancy

My husband pulled the opposite the other night, frowning that I got to have my little JC pizza. He threatened to bring home some pizza this weekend since he had to watch me eat my pizza. I told him that he really wasn't missing out on much, but if he brought home regular pizza that I would have to KILL HIM ;)

You are not a big baby, and you did exactly the right thing coming here and sharing what you were going through!!! :) One day you will be eating that pizza with your hubby and kids again...but by then you will have learned so much about proper balance and portions that you'll realize that one piece of pizza with a side salad makes a nice dinner! I know that for me, 6 months ago, pizza for dinner meant a few big pieces with french fries! Woohoo! Gross. Now I can enjoy a slice, along with some healthy veggies, and be perfectly happy. I am regaining a proper relationship with food, by following the JC plan. So stick with JC strictly for a while to get this all down pat - and stick with these forums because we're all in this together!!!

I give you a ton of credit for sticking to your JC food, even though it was hard (and I TOTALLY get that). I've actually failed in that respect a few times. Pizza is one of my biggest weaknesses - if I'm around others eating pizza, even if I've already had my own meal, it's almost impossible to resist. So huge kudos to you for sticking to your guns! Just remember that the motto is progress, not perfection - so if you do give in to the temptation, don't beat yourself up too badly and get back on the plan as soon as you can!

Thank you all so very much for the encouraging words! I tell you what, last night was rough, but I woke up feeling pretty proud of myself. No guilty feelings, which I know I would have had, had I given into the pizza temptation, lol!

I love these forums, it really helped posting my feelings, made me feel I was accountable in a way to all of you! I know we are all on the same journey and it's nice to be there for eachother!!

Isn't that the best? Knowing in hindsight just how right your decision was??? :) If we can somehow just get past the temptation we are sooooo much happier in the longrun. Coming here and talking will help you learn how to get past the temptation! These forums are good for ALL of us...those losing AND those maintaining...I know for me that helping others helps keep me on track. It's a win-win so post often! :)

Good on you, you were very strong!

My friends and family have always been my biggest weakness when it comes to weight loss, whatever they are eating. When you call it a celebration, a family meal, or an outing with friends, it's easy to justify going overboard.

I totally get where you were coming from. I probably would have cried if my friends or family brought food or took me to a place they knew I couldn't eat. And I probably would've given in because it's a "one time thing".

But you resisted. And that's awesome. :)

I believe that will power is a great trait to have and especially important when trying to lose weight and I think that if you are happy with your decision not to eat the pizza the other night than it was the right one. However, as someone who has successfully lost weight, kept if off for a while but ultimately regained it, I now believe that it is very important to learn when/how to allow yourself a treat so that the road to weight loss doesn't seem so long and torturous, and it will help you to maintain once all the excess weight is gone.

Had I been in your shoes that night and I was so upset not to eat the same pizza as my family, I might have had one slice of pizza and my salad and counted it as my splurge for the week. Another option might be to jazz up the JC pizza a little with some extra veggies and maybe some light cheese (I shred a light cheesestick on it and it makes it sooo much better) and switch out the salad dressing as some of the other posters have suggested. Bolthouse Farms makes a creamy parmesan dressing that is amazing and only 45 calories for 2 tablespoons.

I've been making a ton of casseroles for my family while I am on JC solely and I wanted so badly this potato one that everyone was munching on while I ate my JC meal.......but in the end, I was PROUD of myself for resisting. And I was thinking the whole time, What can I do to make that casserole healthier so I can eat it next time? To me, that was a great reward because I am changing how I look at food. It's difficult but hang in there! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

manthony, if you join (free) myfitnesspal.com you can enter your own recipes and get all the nutritional values. Then you can tweak your ingredients to figure out how to make it healthier! :)

I think livestrong.com, sparkpeople.com, etc., have the same types of things...I just happen to track everything with myfitnesspal.

Write down your feelings with honesty and without judgment.

Did you feel left out? Did you feel different or lonely or weird? Let it pour out on paper. I am an emotional eter and that means I don't listen to my physical hunger but my "emotional hunger" - because eating is a distraction. But the truth is that when I look at the scale I feel worse.

So I've decided to change. Part of that is finding new ways to deal with my feelings about food, what it means in our society, even the messages in commercials about food ( food is love). But if I really love life and want to be here for my family and want to be healthy, isn't that love too?

You can do this! We are here for you!
