Hey everyone! I just joined Jenny Craig last week. I had my first weigh-in yesterday. I am not sure if I should be happy with my results or upset. I lost 3.1 pounds. I went from 165 to 161.9. I'm just curious to know what other members of Jenny Craig lost their first week of the program. I know my mom lost almost four pounds. Please fill me in on what is normal and average. What should my target be for next week?

Welcome to Jenny and congratulations on your first weight loss. IMO, a 3.1 pound lost is really good for the first week. Weight losses per week vary based upon your age, your current weight and how much you want to lose. Jenny's typical weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week.

Congrats on the 3 lbs!

I lost exactly 3 lbs and I was super happy about that. I'd been on other diets before where I didn't lose any weight! I've been on jenny for 9 weeks and I lose anywhere from 1 to 3 lbs a week except during my TOM (time of the month). Those weeks I lose only a couple of ounces, but the week or two after my weight loss is more than 2 lbs so it does catch itself back up. Everyone is so different when it comes to weight loss that it's super hard to guess.

You had a great week last week, just keep doing what you're doing. I do know that exercise helps speed up the weight loss, so if you're not exercising add some.

good luck!

Congratulations on the 3+ lbs - that is awesome! I lost 2.5 lbs in the first week and I started out heavier. It's been a lot harder to lose since I passed 50 so I've been happy with the sloooow progress because it's progress.

keep up the good work :)

I'm going for my first weigh in tonight - in about 1/2 an hour actually. I'm a little nervous. When I was younger (I'm 54) it was nothing for me to lose 7 or 8 pounds the first week on a diet but that doesn't happen now that I'm older. I am hoping for 2 or 3 pounds and I'll be happy with that. I did everything I was supposed to so I don't really know why I'm so anxious about it. I wish I could go early . . . isn't that silly! Oh well, just a bit more time and then I'll know. Good for you for your weight loss --- it's great really!

Thank you so much to everyone who replied back to my post. This is such a supportive community. I'm a senior in high school, so I'm trying to keep joining Jenny a secret. It's nice that I can leave school for lunch and not have to eat the Jenny food in the cafeteria. I'm really liking the food. I forgot how much I liked salads and eating fruits. My first couple days, I was extremely hungry all the time. Now, my body has adjusted. My body is adapting to an eating plan. It knows when it wants to eat because I eat roughly around the same times. So far, I can only rave about the Jenny program. The only meal I didn't like was the slider. Oh, goodness. That was terrible! I'm excited to lose thirty pounds. I want to lose fifteen for prom which is in April!

Congrats, Morgan! You did just fine. The big weight loss in the first week is usually due more to water weight than anything else.

You're soooooooo pretty! :)

Stay on track, exercise and keep up that great attitude. You'll be one of the best looking girls at the prom I'm sure. And congrats on starting young. Most of us waited until we got older and that always makes it more difficult to lose.

And if you don't look at this as a diet but rather a new way of looking at food for the rest of your life, you'll be sooooo far ahead of the game and as that weight starts to drop off even more, I'm sure you're going to inspire other girls who need to drop some weight and be the envy of others. Good for you!!!! :)

Hi,

3 lbs is great. Some have lost more but they probably have much, much more to lose than you. I weighed more than you by a great amount when I started and lost 5 lbs the first week which was mostly water. But these days, I am losing 1 lb each week which I hope is fat loss only.

As long as the scale is going down, you are doing great! And going down 1 -2 lbs a week is best for not having loose skin and losing mostly fat and not muscle. So if week 2 is 2 lbs, celebrate. If it is more, then you probably have fat loss and water loss AND you still need to celebrate (in a non-food way).

Heya Morgan! 3 pounds is great, congratulations!

I lost about 40 pounds my senior year of high school. And then I gained it all back and then some in college. Learning healthy habits now if the best thing you can do for yourself!

Good luck. I'm sure you'll meet your prom goal with time to spare. :)

Oh, gosh. Thank you, thank you! I do see this as a lifetime change. I had the horrible habit of not eating breakfast. I got a huge lecture at the center! My starting weight was 165ish. I cannot wait to get down. I'm going to Puetro Rico in June too. Gotta look hot!

Everyone is so supportive! Thank you so much! I hope I can be an inspiration one day like all of you! So kind! Good luck on your weight-loss/maintenance! I am excited to meet my half-way mark!

I am on week 3. the first week i lost 4.3 pounds and was like yes! this diet is gonna work then week 2 i weighed in & i gained 1.4 pounds & was like noooooo! so i measured myself & although i gained weight my inches went down. so then i am just confused but my coach made me feel way better. she said if i lost inches thats a loss & that is progress so ignore the scales i mean really 1 pound is only 16ozs. we guzzle that is one diet soda. so week 3 rolled around & bam! i dropped 2 more pounds & more inches. so i will not be discouraged. i may throw the scale out the front door but i won't be discouraged because there will be good weeks & not so good just like hair days:).

My first week I lost 4.3 lbs. I was upset at first but everyone here reminded me it did not pile on fast so it will take time to come off. It has helped me being on these forums. Everyone is so supportive. One tip I'll give you is if you like French fries you should try the carrot fries recipe. I really don't like veggies but I could eat these "fries" all day! Keep up the good work!!!!!!

I'm starting to think, the more you weigh, the more you lose the first week. I had my first weigh in today and lost 6.2 pounds but I started at 250. Whenever I tried diets by myself, I would always lose somewhere between 5 and 8 pounds the first week. I believe this has something to do with water weight, but keep up the good work! Any pound subtracted to get you closer to your goal is a success!
