Hey there, ladies!

I did a little experiment today to see what the difference was between walking in flats/sneakers vs. walking in heels. I used my BodyMedia armband and looked at my calorie burn walking the same route to class on Monday in sneakers and today in heels. It's a short walk. Only about 8-9 minutes each way. But in the 20 minutes it took to walk there and back, I burned almost 20 calories more today when I was wearing heels. I think over the course of an entire day, it could make a bit of a difference.

Just a little encouraging thought for people who find themselves wearing uncomfortable shoes all day. Or maybe incentive to break out your girly shoes. ;)

How interesting! This definitely makes me want to break out some of my more girly shoes! In fact, I've found that since I've lost so much, my heels are WAY more comfortable than when I used to try to wear them around carrying all that weight. I have some pairs of summer heels that I can't wait to wear again!

Well I always found it more difficult to balance in heels so I can see where it would burn more calories.

I normally go around barefoot living in FL so whenever I have to break out the heels for an event or meeting, boy, I can feel it in my calf muscles and feet. It's MUCH easier to get around with flats or barefoot, so, yes, that's an interesting way to burn more calories. Good for you! :)

Yeah, it's harder to stay steady. I'd always suspected it burned a few extra calories. Hence the experiment!

I usually wear wedges and thicker heels because I get nervous that stilettos will break under my weight + heavy stride. But I think for one of my mini-goals, I'll get myself a cute pair of sky-high heels. ;)

This is something my doctor told me years ago about heals. I always complained my calfs hurt. She said a few days before I know I am going to put on heals to sit in a chair/couch and lift my legs a little or if you have a recliner use that. Then point your toes out as far as you can then point then straight up. Do this several times about twice a day. When you put the heals on your calfs will be streached some and it will not hurt as much. It really works!!!!

Whoa, neat trick! I'll definitely have to try that.

Did your doctor have any tips for squished toes? Lol! :P

Sorry no squishy toe stories. But it would make a fun conversation at a party LOL.
