I did a little experiment today to see what the difference was between walking in flats/sneakers vs. walking in heels. I used my BodyMedia armband and looked at my calorie burn walking the same route to class on Monday in sneakers and today in heels. It's a short walk. Only about 8-9 minutes each way. But in the 20 minutes it took to walk there and back, I burned almost 20 calories more today when I was wearing heels. I think over the course of an entire day, it could make a bit of a difference.
Just a little encouraging thought for people who find themselves wearing uncomfortable shoes all day. Or maybe incentive to break out your girly shoes.
