Dr. Oz says just a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon a day will boost your metabolism and burn more calories. He said he adds it to his tea....wonder if this is how he keeps his lean physique :P

I have also heard of taking cinnamon capsules to curb sugar cravings. I think I will give this a try.....can't hurt, and cinnamon taste so good.

Has anybody tried this?

I think I'll stick with exercise and eating habits I've developed for the metabolism, it seems to be doing just fine. I don't think anyone is going to lose 50 lbs by eating cinnamon.

I do have 1/2 teaspoon of cinn. a day-usually in my plain greek yogurt and also add equal for some sweetness if I'm in the mood. I have always heard the health benefits it has. I also have heard the cinnamon regulates blood sugar. I Love it!

Lost 64 lbs-off for 2 years.

 I wonder if the cinnamon has to be fresh??

From what I have been reading herbs and spices do have an impact on our quality of life. I don't use cinnamon specfically but I do drink alot of herbal teas and rarely get sick.

As for Dr Oz I think he looks slim because he practices what he preaches. I've always found him to be positive and helpful.

For me I rely on exercise and eating small meals throughout the day but I might try the cinnamon.

Thank you Melissa for sharing Dr Oz's tip and have a great day! :D

LOL dj, I highly doubt Dr. Oz meant that anyone could lose alot of weight by ONLY eating cinnamon....it just HELPS boost the metabolism I guess. It would be worth a try if someone hit a plateau. I might try it for my sugar cravings though, the member that used to post here swore by the capsules and how they dimished her sugar cravings.

It sure is worth a try. And who doesn't love cinnamon anyway??? I like to take the cinnamon sticks and crunch them up over a bowl of cooked apples with cinnamon and splenda. Makes a great apple crisp for these cold evenings. YUM!!

Cinnamon also helps keep blood sugar normal and lowers the risk of diabetes. Just do a search at any reputable medical site and you will find the latest research. My doctor also says this is true. Cinnamon will NOT prevent diabetes all by itself, of course. Family history and obesity are also factors.

But I was shocked to learn that most cases of diabetes are preventable! Losing weight and eating a balanced diet is a major way to keep diabetes away. Whenever I feel like cheating on Jenny Craig, I think about how I want to prevent diabetes and it helps me stay on plan. I still have my rough moments, of course...but so far I'm heading in the right direction.
