Hi to all,

I've never, ever posted in a forum before, so I hope I am doing this correctly. I am embarassed about how much I have to lose, but I figure that this time I am not stopping until I get the job done, so I'm going to try to find out everything I can from anyone who can help. Thank you in advance for reading and for any suggestions and/or support you can give. :)

I am female, 42 years old, 5'8", and I weigh 332 lbs. I've been on Jenny Craig for 3 full weeks now, and I've only lost 2.6 lbs overall--3.6 the first week, then a gain of .2 and .8 for the 2nd and 3rd weeks. I've quit drinking diet soda (Crystal Light and water only) and have exercised at least 30+ minutes 4 times each week for the past 3 weeks. Every day on my Body Media armband I am exceeding my physical activity and steps goals, I measure my food carefully, and I've stuck to the Jenny Craig program faithfully except for 1 evening meal and 1 breakfast meal over the course of my 4 weeks on the program. And at each of those meals, I ate portions well within the guidelines of the program. I've dropped from 2000 calorie to 1500 calorie meal-planning, but still haven't seen any new loss beyond the first week.

In past experiences with Weight Watchers, Atkins, Somersizing, medically supervised weight loss, food exchanges, (you name it) etc., my weight loss has always followed the same trend--lose a little weight, then stall...and stall...and stall...never losing any weight unless we drastically cut my calories to 1000 or less (medically supervised). But even then, my body won't continue to lose.

Does anyone out there have the same trouble? I'm often told I don't eat enough, so, several times over the years, on the advice of professionals, I've tried eating more food (to stimulate the metabolism), weight loss medication (Didrex), exercising more (more than 1 hr per day), everything I can. In addition, I've been tested for thyroid problems, sleep apnea, other hormonal issues, blood sugar issues, cholesterol, etc. and I'm told that everything is within normal ranges.

I'd appreciate any advice you can give or any resources to which you can point me. I don't plan to give up--but I would like to see results because this is costing so much. I need to start losing weight and seeing some success!

Thank you!

Chris, Don't give up. First off you are not eating near enough calories at 1500!!! You should without a doubt be eating no less than 2,000 calories a day / When you get to 285 Pounds then drop to 1700 calories and then not till you are at 234 calories drop to1500 calories!

I know this seems crazy but it is true. When I started on Jenny I weighed 310 pounds. I was trying to eat only 1500 calories. I kept gaining no matter what I tried. As soon as I started eating the right amount the weight started flying off! I have lost 101 pounds so far and working on the rest. My first year with Jenny I lost 67 pounds. I feel amazing. I now work as a consultant for Jenny and love my job.

I encourage you to meet with your consultant and have them redo your health sheet and exercise level. it will tell them immediately to raise your calories! Follow the planned menu exactly!! The weight will FLY off!!!!

Feel free to read any of my other posts for some other great tips. Also if you have any other concerns I am here! Congratulations and know this is going to be a long journey but you can do it! A good friend of mine who started with me got to her goal and lost over 200 pounds! Stick with it! Hugs to you! :D

Hello
You sound like me. 3 weeks and 4 lbs. Could we be online support for each other? I am taking meds for thyroid . I went to see an amazing doc this week that finally listened to me. I have been going to the same dr for 20 years. This new dr told me that a lot of dr's are saying as long as their patients are within normal limits they are healthy. However explain to me why patients are still getting symptoms. You may have the start of a hormonal problem or maybe not. Do you have a wellness Dr in your area. I mean a regular dr who specializes in women's health. If you have read Suzanne Sommers books you will know what i mean. My thyroid was out of whack for many years but not caught until I was 40. Maybe ask to see an Endocrinologist. They specialize in Hormone levels. Anyway I have started to lose weight now I need to excercise. Hope to hear from you. I have 75 plus lbs to lose.

I enjoyed reading this post. I was going through the same thing. My start weight was 316 and now I'm down to 308.8 at the end of week 4. Although its a great 8lb loss, I was expecting to lose so much more in the first month considering how heavy I am. I only drink water and crystal light too and exercise 3-4 times a week for about 30 min. I have also found that one a day vitamins for women really help with metabolism. I use the generic kind from Walmart, and it works great. Ive also have eaten regular foods due to my travel schedule lately and Ive learned that when you eat off the diet, you have to really watch the salt intake. Water retention is the #1 reason why I have had trouble losing weight in the past. Start watching your sodium intake. There is very little in the Jenny foods. You will be amazed at how much sodium are in your regular foods. It's recommended to consume 1500-2300mg daily and sometimes it's 1000mg in one serving of 1 food item. So although the loss is coming off slower than expected, I will continue on because 8 lbs over 6 months is almost 50 lbs. So I'll take that over gaining weight, plus the prepared food is so convenient, although I agree with you on price. We expect to see extraordinary results at those prices. But I probaly would've lost more if I hadn't eaten off and miss about 2 weeks of exercise due to an injury.
