I am so jazzed. Set my first personal goal as 15 lbs and promised myself I would open this extra special $40 bag of 100% Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee that I've had stashed away, once I lost the first 15 lbs.

Got to JC on Saturday and told my JCC about that promise and that I figured I probably had another week to wait to open the coffee. Turns out I lost 15 lbs on the nose!

My JCC asked what I would make my next goal promise. She suggested I do something at 25 lbs. I told her I think I will treat myself to a box of Mighty Leaf Tea, which is really expensive tea in silk tea bags. They sell it at Vitamin Shoppe, which is practically next door to JC.

There are two other JC members at work and they've been SO encouraging. I can't wait to get the next 5 lbs off because ever time I lose weight, it's that much less pressure on my bum foot. I will have to log back in to fix my siggy and adjust the weight after I post this.

Thanks MeLissa and Phyllis! I so appreciate the support on these boards. Haven't been on here much in the past week (because I was so busy--which is good because when I'm busy I'm not focused on food).

It's interesting that the weeks I dine out, I tend to lose better. It could be that I am under-eating, or else I am just being super careful. I use my little Volumetrics booklet they gave me on Day 1 and just follow the portion amounts.

Sat night was rough because I went to a "Beefsteak Dinner" at my church and this caterer's idea of that was a tiny salad, huge plates of fries, and little disks of bread with little slabs of steak on them. I was SO ticked there weren't any additional veggies. But a friend snagged me an extra salad, I had "3 fingers" of meat, skipped the fries and bread, and did fine. When I got home, I had plenty of fruits and dairy left for my day, plus my evening snack, so I was able to eat some VOLUME. I sure was hungry when I left that dinner.

This one woman told me they were considering doing a "fish fry" in the future. I'm thinking, no way am I shelling out $25 for another dinner that is so sorely lacking in vegetables. Granted I could bring my own but eh, it's just not worth it to me.

Congrats on the weight loss!!! I love your idea on holding off on your reward! I just ordered some Skin Care Products that a company was offering on line though the Today Show for 75% off. I'm 3lbs from losing a total of 20 or maybe 25, I think I should have my husband hold onto those until I make it! If my scale is correct, It might be another week before those 3lbs come off! Maybe this will make me step it up a notch.

Thanks for your idea!~

Now THIS is what we're talkin about!!!
You write so well, it's as if you're sitting across from us talking! I love that!!
I'm a relative "newbie" too and those small "baby steps" are what lead to "GIANT leaps" (Notice how I worked the word, GIANT into the sentence; turns out, I'm a huge Giant fan and I'm rooting for them this weekend!)
Anyway, back to the motivation!!
GO WRITEGAL!!.....You just got a touchdown in your own little SuperBowl!!!
Keep it up!

I LOVE a good cup of coffee. That is my ultimate treat. That Jamaican coffee is wonderful. I think you should have one every day because you know, once it is open..... it will go stale if you don't use it!!! That is my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

I love the fact that I am learning by all of your examples! :D
Before JC, I lost weight and then rewarded myself with FOOD!
The tea sounds amazing and even better is your happiness coming through as you reach your goals!
Congrats, and enjoy!

Thanks again everyone! And MichelleK I am a Giants fan too! So I am chuckling at your Super Bowl comment.

The coffee keeps pretty well in the fridge or freezer, so I can nurse it for awhile.

Oh, I love Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee! What a great gift to yourself! I am a coffee drinker, so the tea for me wouldn't be a reward, but then I could order in the French Market, Cafe Du Monde, coffee brand as a reward! But, way to go! :)

Your 15 lbs is amazing. I've only lost 8.5 in 3 weeks. I need some help and support. Hope I can find some new friends to talk to here.

Angie --- Only 8.5 in 3 weeks>??!!!! That is simply amazing!!! Congratulations and we all lose differently! But the point is that you are losing and you are putting in the effort and you are learning! And these boards are wondeful!! Everyone is very supportive but the hardest thing I've found so far is learning to celebrate the little things! This is a journey, congratulate yourself along the way and keep working the program! You can do this and you are off to a stupendous start! It's taken me 4 weeks to lose 9# and I am tickled pink b/c I know that the more I do this, the more the weight will come off and the more I'll learn ! Have a great week and think positive!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!
