Got to JC on Saturday and told my JCC about that promise and that I figured I probably had another week to wait to open the coffee. Turns out I lost 15 lbs on the nose!
My JCC asked what I would make my next goal promise. She suggested I do something at 25 lbs. I told her I think I will treat myself to a box of Mighty Leaf Tea, which is really expensive tea in silk tea bags. They sell it at Vitamin Shoppe, which is practically next door to JC.
There are two other JC members at work and they've been SO encouraging. I can't wait to get the next 5 lbs off because ever time I lose weight, it's that much less pressure on my bum foot. I will have to log back in to fix my siggy and adjust the weight after I post this.

It's interesting that the weeks I dine out, I tend to lose better. It could be that I am under-eating, or else I am just being super careful. I use my little Volumetrics booklet they gave me on Day 1 and just follow the portion amounts.
Sat night was rough because I went to a "Beefsteak Dinner" at my church and this caterer's idea of that was a tiny salad, huge plates of fries, and little disks of bread with little slabs of steak on them. I was SO ticked there weren't any additional veggies. But a friend snagged me an extra salad, I had "3 fingers" of meat, skipped the fries and bread, and did fine. When I got home, I had plenty of fruits and dairy left for my day, plus my evening snack, so I was able to eat some VOLUME. I sure was hungry when I left that dinner.
This one woman told me they were considering doing a "fish fry" in the future. I'm thinking, no way am I shelling out $25 for another dinner that is so sorely lacking in vegetables. Granted I could bring my own but eh, it's just not worth it to me.

You write so well, it's as if you're sitting across from us talking! I love that!!
I'm a relative "newbie" too and those small "baby steps" are what lead to "GIANT leaps" (Notice how I worked the word, GIANT into the sentence; turns out, I'm a huge Giant fan and I'm rooting for them this weekend!)
Anyway, back to the motivation!!
GO WRITEGAL!!.....You just got a touchdown in your own little SuperBowl!!!
Keep it up!

Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the
attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way
your mind looks at what happens. - John Homer Miller
