That is funny! But it's bizarre that her FIRST thought was that you were a drug dealer! LOL She's obviously been watching too many older movies (before cell phones) where drug dealers wore beepers! :o :P :D

Well I didn't say I carried a beeper. I said that her boss must have been watching older movies. I'm a movie buff and I saw that in some OLD movies. LOL :P

Hey, I remember having to wear a beeper, had a car phone (one permanently attached, not mobile - worked better than my present cell phone!), and used a device called a "brick" that had a keypad and small LCD display so we could get service calls, order parts, text messages to others in the company (worked for a company called IBM, you might have seen that name), and we could do a query to see where other people were working for the day as we kept our locations updated using that same device. This was back in the 80's and 90's before we got modems that we could attach to a cell phone or car phone and our laptops to communicate so we could be rid of the brick. We were "texting", even while driving, before kids today who think they are cool.

I feel like the Ancient Mariner these days when talking about technology. It might have made advances but I am not sure if it is an improvement on society when kids stay in front of a TV playing video games instead of running around outside.

Don't feel bad. I learned to type on a MANUAL typewriter, know shorthand and worked a keypunch machine. LOL

Yes, the technology has changed incredibly over the years. And for most of it, I'm grateful but I refuse to text. That one is going too far for me.

When I teach in school I am a little self concious wearing my monitor because of what they might think lucky for me it's winter and long sleeves are in. What do you do in the summer or lucky for you warmer states? I like to wear mine as much as possible to ensure I stay on track.

I wear it anyway. If anyone asks I just tell them that its an ultra cool pedometer that measures all kinds of stuff. You could have your students graph your steps! :) Or in my case, how many times I wake up each night. lol

LOL Too funny - I used to have a beeper too - and we had one of those lovely bag phones - where the battery and all the other crap needed for the phone to work was so big you had to have a mini-briefcase to carry the phone around.

And don't feel bad, Phyllis - I learned to type on a manual typewriter too. I actually took a typing class in high school. One of my worst grades ever, but what did they know - I type 100+ wpm now so who's having the last laugh? :)

It is kinda crazy, though, to think about the changes in technology in such a relatively short time. I still remember the day my parents came home with our first microwave oven. We made EVERYTHING in that thing for awhile because it was so new and different. Now I can't imagine what we'd do without one...I wouldn't be half as successful at this program, that's for sure!
