Hi all,

I reached my latest mini-goal of 180 lbs but it was at a lot slower pace than I was losing previously. I got used to seeing big losses on the scale, then I hit the halfway number, a number I have seen 4 times before in weight loss attempts since 2006. I thought the weight loss slowdown was due to having to break through that number but I guess it is my body, not my mind. Most of the obivous fat on my body is on my butt and legs, still have fat rolls on my knees. That fat has been around for a long time since I was a pre-teen so I expect it will be slow to come off.

I am still working on my mind as I am a step away from overeating. I actually stopped myself from buying a large latte (which someone else was buying) by asking myself "do I want this latte with whipped cream and have to do several hours of exercise or do I want to keep going on my goal of 180?" Then I gasped, causing people nearby to move away from the crazy lady with the funny look on her face, ME. I bought my black coffee and put in one of my portable creamers. "Oh yeah, I am a good girl", No, I am working toward a goal I do want! Did I live with my decision, yes, I did. I think I made a step towards thinking like a thin person. This is a lifestyle, not a temporary diet fix.

So two celebrations this week, reached 180, a mini-goal and I was able to make a good choice (delayed gratification) over a bad one (instant bratty gratification like a big baby!)

Way to go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on reaching this new goal - you are doing AWESOME!!!!

I know exactly what you are saying about keeping your mind in the game - I think this is critical not only for the weight loss portion of our journey, but absolutely necessary if we are to keep it off for life.

I love your coffee story - had a similiar one the other day! The hubs and I were in the mall where there is a starbucks. We stopped in for a break and normally I would have gotten a latte, or mocha somthing, etc. Instead I got a small coffee of the day. And since it was time for my afternoon break I pulled out the Pria bar I had in my purse and enjoyed it with my coffee!! What a wonderful experience to be in control of what I eat, instead of letting the food control me!!

I wish you all the best in your journey!

((hugs))
Nancy

Whoooo-hooooo!!!!! What a great mindset you have! It's EXACTLY what you need to do for the long haul.

Like Nancy, I LOVE your coffee story and the way you "talked" yourself out of the higher calorie choice. (BTW, I always have these "conversations" with myself and sometimes they are unknowingly out loud and it doesn't dawn on me until I realize people are staring at me - LOL).

But you're absolutely correct. This isn't just a diet as much as it is a lifelong journey and that's the way you have to think. Yes, the weight will come off slow, fast or on-target, but it will come off. But the key to keeping it off is to realize that it is more than about losing the weight but having a new relationship with food for life and you sound as if you have finally accepted that. That's WONDERFUL!!! Sooooo happy for you!

Keep it up! You've inspired many, I'm sure, with your post. :)

You nailed it!!! Awesome!!! Big congratulations on your 180...but even bigger congratulations on your mindset. That's what's going to take you to 170, 160, and beyond! :)

This is what I struggle with myself the most. That mindset. You have it exactly right!! I think we just have to keep doing it and doing it and then doing it some more until IT becomes what we do as a habit. Because really, the rewarding ourselves with food is just that.... a habit.
