I was a member of Premium Success plan from March, 2010 - March 2011. Never made it past June, though! If I join again, will I have to pay for the full plan agaiin or will they give me some kind of discount being that I had paid sooooo much mioney for the plan the first time around? Also, should I go to the same center I used before or a different one. I am embarrassed to say that I weigh about 10 pounds more than last time around! Thank you!

3meows, this is my 3rd time on JC - first in 1996, 2nd in 2006, and I went back this past Oct. Don't worry about your 10 extra pounds. I'm working on losing 36 pounds, and my goal weight is somewhere around my 1996 start weight. LOL! And do not be embarassed about returning, why do you think there is a whole section of forums for returning clients. :)

HOWEVER, get your head in the game this time girlfriend! Don't look at JC as a diet, but as a method of teaching you some healthy life skills. My two previous attempts were simply for weightloss...and they worked in the short term...but look at me by 2012...heaviest of all time for me. I am doing some things differently this time:

- really thinking hard about the importance of regular healthy snacks so I don't fall apart at the end of the day
- portion control/fresh, whole foods for the rest of my life, not just for weight loss
- putting my food on a plate so I feel like a civilized human eating my meal, not a person on a diet eating out of a plastic tray (this also helps teach portion control...how big your food should look on your plate)
- talking to and listening to my JCC to determine coping strategies for tough situations like holidays and parties (I used to just go in, get weighed, get my food, and get out - this time I'm letting her give me a pep talk each week!)
- using these forums on a regular basis to get help and give help - pay it forward helps us keep on track during and after the loss period!!!

It's as much about our outlook and lifestyle forever as it is about how many calories we can eat while losing weight. You might not be on JC for the rest of your life, but the relationship with food you're learning IS for the rest of your life... And don't forget all that water and to get moving! :)

Good luck and welcome back! Use these forums, they are so helpful!!!

Well, I have an appointment with JC this afternoon! I am nervous and excited! I am praying they take into account the money I paid in March 2010!!! When I called on the phone they said I would "Have to pay again to become a Premium Member". I am hoping to get them to give me some leniency. I really do not have 400 extra dollars right now -- it will be a strain as it is paying for the food! Thank you for your replies to my post!

Welcome 3 meows and escott! I wasn't on the Premium Success program when I had to return last year to lose about 10 lbs. I regained, so I'm not sure about the fees. I was on the Rewards program they offered several years ago so I paid a renewal fee - about $50.

Your best bet is to go in and talk with them. If you still have your original contract, take a look at it and see what it says, if anything, about renewals.

And, by all means, follow the great advice Mindy gave you! Let us know how it goes. We'd love to help support you on your journey so hopefully this is the last time you need to do JC. :)

I'm thinking of joining the Jenny set go program for four weeks. Can anyone tell me how much the food costs weekly and if I get to pick whatever food I want or do they pick the food for me? I have never joined a program like this before, but I here of it's great success. Is Nutrisystem the same/similar to JC? Have any of you tried both and have any feedback for someone new to the whole ordering food thing? Thanks in advance!!

Karlad,

Welcome and hope you'll come to the boards often!

With the picking of the food it's one of those "it depends" situations. They like to start you out with their Planned Menu. It gives you an opportunity to try all of their foods and it's the most nutritionally balanced. Some folks stay on that plan for the best loss but most of us switch to the Personalized Menu at some point so we can pick and choose. And other do a combination of both - sticking with the basic Planned Menu but switching out a few things they don't like much.

To me, JC and Nutrisystem are miles apart. The JC food is MUCH tastier. There are mostly frozen entrees which is already a plus but food itself is better.

Depending on what you order, the food runs about $100-$150 a week for your three meals and snacks. There are ways to cut down on that but if you go strictly with the JC foods, that's about the average. You then add in your own fresh veggies and dairy.

I know that sounds like a lot of money but if you add up what usually spend on food, dining out, snacks, etc., it's not too bad. Plus you get one-on-one counseling.

Are you planning to go to the Center or will you be an at-home client where the food is shipped to you twice a month?

If you're an at-home client and have the food shipped to you, if you order in advance, you can save $65 on one of the shippings (they send two weeks of food at a time).

If you need to save money in the beginning, you can skip the Souptizers and the Anytime bar. (When you get to that point in the process, come to the boards or ask your JCC (Jenny Craig Consultant) about what you can substitute.

Hope you do it. It's a FANTASTIC program and you'll find so much support here on the boards. :)

I once tried the Nutrisystem get started package and could not last a single day. The food was Gross..tasted like dog food. All of it was shelf stable (not frozen) and it was just awful. I thought Jenny Craig was the same thing but I couldn't have been more wrong. After trying other diets with minimal success that wasn't sustained, (sugar busters, mediterranean, shakes, etc.), I gave up and thought why not give Jenny a try. This was after a period of trying to wing it on my own and I wasn't eating very much nor very regularly and certainly with no nutritional balance. I felt awful the day I went into my local center. I had been feeling lethargic and horrible about myself. I am so glad I tried Jenny! The food is wonderful and I am eating every two hours or so. The first day, I couldn't believe I was actually on a "diet". The frozen food is like a Smart Balance or Healthy Choice entree only way better tasting (it tastes real) and way better for you because it has less sodium. My JCC told me Jenny Craig is the only weight loss program that is recognized by the American Heart Association. That is really good to know, because for me losing weight is a choice for health, so why not go with a plan that is heart healthy? It just makes so much sense. I am now at the end of my fourth day, and my energy is returning and I am not feeling close to death any more. I haven't even added in regular exercise yet, decided I would make changes slowly and not all at once, but I'm feeling so much better than I may begin a light exercise program next week! It's tough when you just want the weight to be gone NOW, but you have to remember it didn't come on over night so it's not going to go overnight either. Granted, it is a lot more fun and easier to gain weight than it is to lose it, but I think things balance out. I think getting out of my baggy tshirts and into cute stylish clothes is going to be way more fun than shoveling a whole chocolate cake into my mouth. I think socializing and feeling good enough to laugh and smile with my friends is going to be more fun than having a Starbucks Vienti Caramel Macchiato every day. I was once a competitve athlete, and I think getting back into my game is going to be tons more fun than a ton of butter. Stay on it and stay well! :)
