I usually don't buy the soupitizers either. I have tried not buying as many snacks and making my own from the recipes on the JC site or buying Skinny Cow brands or the WW ones. But I try to stick with the Jenny ones the most as the sugar content is usually lower and I like em.

Thanks for the price sheet. I wish they gave it to me. I'm actually enjoying the soupitizers but I'm going to look in supermarket for instant tomato or veg soup that's 50 calories or less. I wish I can substitute the dressings but if I buy or make my own dressing, I'm so bad about measuring.

I'm going to try to keep a lg of some of the foods calories, sugar, fat, etc to find cheaper options.

I'm only in day2 and very hungry!!!!!

Thank you so much for posting the pricing info. I sure didn't know what the costs were and was really surprised to see how much it all adds up to each week. I've been averaging around $135/wk. I'd like to get that down to apx $100 or less per week. I think i can give up the anytime bars, especially after seeing how much they cost! yikes! i don't buy the soupitizers, syrup or dressings.
The info sure gives me something to think about as far as pre-planning my weekly menus.

So what exactly IS the requirement as to how many meals you have to purchase if you have not hit your halfway point yet? I'm getting close to halfway, but still have about 8 lbs to go. I

was under the impression (from things I've read on this board) that until I make it halfway to goal, I have to buy 7 days of meals every week, so that's what I've been doing. I don't buy Soupitizers or Anytime bars. I'd like to cut back on buying some of the snacks and salad dressing (I am getting sick of the limited dressing flavors) and wouldn't mind not buying one days' worth of food just to save $$. I eat maybe one meal out a week and I am SO careful about portion size when I do it.

So is there a rule that you absolutely must buy all 7 days of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner until you hit halfway?

Hi~

For Fit@40 I never used the Jenny dressing, At 60 calories a packet, it isn't even low cal, and considering the price, it's a rip off! I use Walden farms dressings, and used them even before joining Jenny. They are delicious and have no fat, no calories, no carbs, no gluten and no sugars of any kind, They sell them in most supermarkets here in NYC, and are worth looking for! They come in many flavor varieties, and even the blue cheese and creamy ones are no cal!

Nikki? I was never told I was required to buy 7/7/7/7. (bfst/lunch/dinner/snack) even before I hit half way. I always went to my meetings with my lists pre-written, so I knew what I needed and the exact cost it would be. .My JCC took my order, as written every time, no questions asked. I have noticed, that when they run promotions, they usually require that you spend 75.00 per week, but in ANY way you like. I always keep extra muffins and cheesecakes in the freezer, and my friends are happy to share them with me. Also, not having a microwave at work, I told my JCC I'd be having yogurt and salds for lunch, rather than JCC food, and she had no problem with it. I am sure they'd rather keep you as a client (even if your orders are smaller) than lose you completely!!

Hi Nikki, absolutely not!....and dont allow them to try and convince you otherwise. It seems to me each jcc handles this differently.....like mine, some are understanding and dont push the issue of buying X amount of food....then I read here where some jcc's TRY and make their clients feel like they have to buy a certain amount....which is totally wrong!

You would save quite a bit by buying your own snacks and dressing for sure.

Nikki - Melissa is right - there is no hard and fast rule. The very first order i put in (i'm at home) I ordered fewer dinners because i knew of some work functions. My current JCC will delay an order a week too. So i can order fewer items and get them shipped later when I need to (i also travel for my job). I order plenty as it is and she has been very flexible. Before I hit halfway, I was also cutting back on some items to save money. I decided to buy my own cereals (an entire box for about $4 at the grocery store vs. $2.50 for one cereal serving? No brainer!) and about half of my own snacks. Making substitutions like that early on I was able to cut it much closer to $100 a week, even while I continued to buy the anytime bars.

Pre-planning your weekly order will definitely help you reign in your Jenny spending. At my centers, they always had a price list pad out in the foyer area available for you to take, though the JCCs didn't hand it over unless you asked specifically. Shame on any center for deliberately hiding it!

My counselor gave me a great Tuscan soup that is basically tomato, eggplant, mushrooms and zucchini. I make a double batch, portion it out in 1 cup measures and eat it often. She also gave a rainbow salad of many colored peppers, red onions and lettuce. She told me to use salsa for dressing if I got bored with the dressings at JC. I mailed the soup recipe to my sister who suggested adding spinach for extra iron. She found that recipe by googling it. All free foods and tastes delicious. I use it as a soupetizer.

I guess tastes differ because the Anytime bars are my favorite snacks and I don't like the sweets much at all. Too dry.
The best part of this whole thing is the support and cheerleading and tricks I am learning from her. There are so many things that I did not know or think about like trying to make it easier to stay on track by simplifying coffee, tea and saving the creamers for special occasions. Now I keep JC emergency meals and snacks in the car so I am never caught off guard.

Kicking sodas is hard. even diet ones make me want a real one. Besides Iced tea and water what do other people use?

Thanks for all the feedback. I based my question on what I read on these boards from other people who had gotten the "hard sell" (I believe one woman lost her job and was hassled about not being able to buy the food, even though she'd pre-paid for 3 years).

I spoke to my JCC. I am very concerned because they are doing rolling layoffs every 2 weeks at work and I feel as if I may be vulnerable. So I need to cut back (single parent and homeowner here). My JCC said there is absolutely no rule that says I have to buy 7 meals and snacks. I bought them anyway last week, but I'm going to start cutting back. She urged me to do more MOMO--I was doing 1 a week (well not preparing one a week, but getting takeout which I've broken into 3 portions once a week). I'm a lousy cook so I may not get to cooking a meal on my own just yet.

I bought a bottle of low fat salad dressing, put a sticky note on it with my name, and stuck it in the fridge at work. Was getting SO sick of just the balsamic and ranch choices, so at least I'll be saving $$ on dressing. Next step is to buy some snacks on my own. I don't eat cereal, so buying a box of that is not an option. One of the main reasons I joined JC was because I was never able to find anything easy to grab for breakfast that wasn't loaded with fat, sugar, and salt. So their breakfasts have been a huge attraction for me.
