I hit my goal after over a year of trying and I am so excited but yet i'm scared that I won't be able to hold the weight. I was hoping maybe I could get some good tips from others who have already been down this road. I have lost over 50 pounds and I am not going back now! Any advice would be very helpful. I am in the process of getting rid of my old clothes to help encourage me to stay at this size.

Congratulations on reaching goal. That is awesome and I feel your excitement. I'm not a good model for someone at goal; I reached it in October and due to vacations and holidays, put some of the weight back on. I'm still struggling to get back to goal. I don't eat Jenny food but I continue to wear the bodymedia armband and continue to keep my calorie level at 1200 calories. I have learned what to eat each day to keep within that calorie level and continue to exercise but I'm still having problems with social engagements and eating out. I keep coming to the forums for advice and assistance, and continue to speak to my JCC.

Good luck to you and hopefully the other maintenance winners will chime in and give you some great advice.

Congratulations on making it to goal!!!!

Like Paulette, I'm doing maintenance and I'm not on JC food.

I did keep the weight off for almost 4 years, made a dumb mistake with almonds (for my digestive system), put on about 10 lbs. in about a month - yikes - ran back to JC and have been back on maintenance for several months.

My biggest advice is to keep an eye on the scale so that if you see that scale coming up to that 5 lb. mark over goal, RUN, DO NOT WALK back to JC.

My biggest mistake (besides overeating almonds) was being in such disbelief that I waited until the scale hit 10+ lbs. before returning. I should have gone back 5 lbs. earlier (or wish I hadn't eaten the EXCESS of almonds).

Other than that, I use the lessons I learned doing MOMOs and DOMOs when I hit halfway to teach me about what I can and can't do with food.

I pretty much eat anything BUT my portions are sooooo much more reasonable (uh, smaller - LOL) than what I had done in the past.

Getting rid of clothes is a GREAT idea because if you don't have something to wear because you've put on some weight, then you're more likely to run back to JC to fix whatever you're doing wrong.

I also believe that posting to these forums keeps me in check.

I know you haven't posted much during your weight loss journey, but since you will only be seeing your JCC once a month (and a lot can happen in a month), please DO come to the boards for support, tips, venting or anything else. You accomplished something great and we all want to see you succeed at KEEPING IT OFF this time for a LIFETIME. :)

Congrats again! :)

Well not much I can add to the above post, but just remember MODERATION.....everything within moderation is the key. One other thing, I slacked off working out, and I paid for it too  ..... just b/c we are in maintenance by no means we can be a slacker....so keep moving that bootay ;)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Welcome to the Maintainer's Club!! B)

Thank you all for the support. I am going to try to keep posting to help me with the hard areas. I am still worried about (like you said) parties and other social gatherings. One place we go to a lot is a club and all they have is fried foods and cheese plates although they do have salads. I just eat the pickles off of my boyfriends cheese plate and order a salad. I just hope I can keep up with this and not forget what jenny taught me. It is so easy to just say well just this one time won't hurt and before you know it you have 3 days of bad eating. I plan on still buying some food to have around for those tought times when I don't know what to eat.

Yes, by all means, keep coming to the forums. :)

I know you didn't do it much during your losing period but you might need it a bit more when you're on maintenance because it's easier to "go astray" when you're not reporting in to your JCC once a week.

I'm curious. When you got to halfway, did you start doing MOMOs and DOMOs so that you were more prepared for maintenance?

I don't know why but some people don't and then when they hit maintenance they're a little lost because they didn't "experiment" to test what they learned on JC in the losing stage.

Basically when you're on maintenance, you're going to be doing (assuming you were on the 1,200 calorie level) anywhere from 1,500-1,800 calories a day to maintain. At least that's what I was advised to do and that's what I've been doing and it's been working.

Your plan at the club sounds like a good one - sticking to salads. But if you go there a lot, you can ask if they do have any other "healthy" options. Sometimes chefs are willing to work with their steady customers just to keep them happy and will make up things that aren't on the menu.

Anyway, yes, please continue to come to the boards and let us know how it's going. We're all rooting for your continued success! :)

Hi Skinni!

Congrats on reaching your goal, great work!
I've been on maintanence since September or so, and in some ways it's harder than being on Jenny was, since now you have to set your own menus & limits, etc.
What I find works for me, is to still write everything down and keep a food and exercise diary. I threw away clothes at intervals (I live in NYC, very small closets!) and rewarded myself with all new jeans, a new winter coat and new boots this winter. (No, my feet didn't shrink, I just love shoes!) I still eat Jenny muffins for breakfast, and Jenny cheesecake for dessert, with other meals being OMO. I had previously been on 1200 cal/day, and now stay around 1500-1800, depending on how many calories I burn off. Since I still purchase breakfast and dessert, I continue to weigh in weekly, and plan to continue to do so as long as it is feasible. Just being responsible to my JCC keeps me in line. I also make sure I have fresh fruits and veggies in the house at ALL times, so I don't have the excuse of having "nothing" healthy to eat. I agree with everyone above, especially knowing when to RUN back to JC! I know that although I'm pretty disciplined, if I only weighed in monthly, I'd be tempted to cheat on non-weigh weeks and try to make it up on weigh-in weeks. This way I don't even risk temptation :)
Congrats to everyone who's made it this far, and continued success to all!
