Ugh!!! OK, my positive attitude on Saturday about working hard this week to drop .8 to make it to my first 10 pounds down went right out the window!

I don't want to get into the gory details, but it involved a chocolate chip pancake, a chicken souvlaki plate, three handfuls of chocolate covered almonds, a slice of thin crust pizza and salmon with rice. Not necessarily in that order nor was it all in one day, but I started the slippery slope on Sunday afternoon and didn't finish until last night. I also kept saying, "I'm going to work out" and then didn't......This was the first time in 6 weeks I really battled cravings (and lost), compounded with a social eating situation and feeling tired (and its not that TOM even and no, not pregnant).

But I am back on track today, I just know that the scale is not going to be kind on Saturday (and rightfully so). *SIGH* What is it about having just one taste that can send me into a downward spiral?!?!

Also, how many of you have a spouse/significant other that verbally supports you, but then brings home a burrito the size of a small dog to eat (for themselves)??? Or goes out and buys the high fat stuff (chocolate covered almonds) when you purposely do the shopping to keep it out of the house?!?! Frustrating.....

Sorry this confession turned into a rant!!!!

Kat, keep repeating your yourself - PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION.

Did you slip? Uh, yeah, you did. Did you REALLY stumble? Uh, kind of. Do you live with an unconscious sabboteaur? Yeah, probably. ;( BUT...

Did you get back up and get back on track - HECK, YES!!!!

And that, my dear girl, is what is the MOST important thing to remember once you finish beating yourself up! :P

As for hubby and his "treats," just ask him to lock them in his car or hide them where he knows where they are and you don't.

BTW, the salmon and rice, was NOT a bad choice. That actually would have been fine (depending on portion size). The rest - well, not so much. But you're back on track and you can start chugging ahead.

Progress, not perfection...Progress, not perfection...Progress, not perfection...Progress, not perfection...Progress, not perfection... :D

Hang in there. It's a process. You'll be fine. :)

Everything that Phyllis said. You've slipped up but now you are back on track. It's a good time to evaluate (1) why you did it, (2) what you will do when faced with the same situation again, and (3) what can you do to easily make the right choices next time (btw...there will be a next time, life happens!).

Also, give yourself a break and reflect on all the changes that you have made over the last 6 weeks.

OK NYC - you had a bit of a slip but you are back on track - that is what it is all about.

Yes, my hubs brings home "goodies" - he is much better about eating and working out than I am so why am I to deny when he wants to indulge?
There will always be temptations - you don't have to go into the Krispy Kreme store when the "hot" light is on! Getting the mindset of eating healthy day in and day out is the trick - but I don't know how to tell you how to make that happen! It just clicked for me one day - have no idea how it happened.
I meet every Wesdnesday with a bunch of ladies - we all do different crafts together. Everyone brings in some food to share with the group - and it is ALWAYS high calorie treats. It is soooo hard not to nibble. I bring in either fruit or a veggie plate and do whatever it takes to only nibble on that.
So.....where I used to be one of the "heavier" girls in the group, I am no longer. And in a few months I will probably be one of the thinnest in the group.
Good for you for getting back on track!!
Nancy

Thanks, ladies! I've dusted myself off and gotten back on my Jenny road.

Its funny when you mention portions, Phyllis. In just a few short weeks I've been able to REALLY see the difference between what a "normal" portion should be vs what we get in restaurants and other places.

These cravings/issues kind of snuck up on me....All of a sudden I got the munchies and nothing was doing it for me! For some reason I started feeding the monster and couldn't stop!!! But I stopped this morning.

Last night I told my husband to hide all the snacks so that I didn't know where they were. Hopefully they will be out of my line of sight by the time I get home!

As I was battling cravings the last two days, I kept saying to myself, one bite at a time. Meaning, I need to really be aware of everything that I eat. In the past, it has been mindless. One meal, one snack at a time. I made a commitment to myself to stay on Jenny, and that is all. I am an all or nothing kind of person.

Get back on the horse. Keep coming here for encouragement. The women are so supportive and understanding and offer lots of great advice.

I agree with Nancy to the fullest...as usual! Why should we ask our hubbys to hide or lock up their snacks, lol, its not their problem that WE have weight issues. I would never ask my husband to do that....want to piss off a man real fast? Ask him to play hide and seek with his faves. haha. My hubs has never had weight issues and can eat an entire cow and not gain an ounce. pfft....men and their fast metabolisms! lol. Seriously though, I just dont think that is fair or realistic....we just have to get in the right frame of mind.....and get in the mindset that we are in this for life, and part of that is dealing with those who are close to us eating like they want to. One way to run your friends off real fast is to ask them not to eat their fattening foods around you. lol. BTW, this all my opinion ONLY!

Like Nancy, I am with my friends all the time and I watch them eat all kinds of yumminess....but I have it set in my mind that is their food....and I choose not to eat that way anymore.

With all that said, when I first started jc I stayed far away from my fav restraunts until I gained control.....took a month or so. I was terrified to go out with friends for fear of caving. I felt like a recluse in my home until then...but it worked for me.

Ok, back the main topic. lol. Good for you for getting back on track.....this journey is a bumpy road, its all in how you react to those detours that matters!!!
