Confused about self talk/thoughts value

I've had several people tell me that my thoughts are relevant to my results. I totally do not understand this at all. :blink: I would like some explanation as to how negative thoughts, like when I'm down on myself or discouraged, effect my weight loss. It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm the only one thinking them. I'm not "doing" anything that's negative; it's just thoughts in my head. Can anyone enlighten me? :P In all other areas of my life, I am positive and don't use negative language. With weight loss, I am down on myself. I don't share this out loud with anyone. It's just my fear of failure that I harbor within myself. :unsure:

how about just the fact that negative energy leads to negative results? i mean when i am thinking good thoughts, acting good, feeling good, well good things happen around me and I have a great day. when i am having a negative thoughts because the negative bug bit me on the bum, well then i have a crappy day. energy, thought, our choice of what mood we will place our self in effect the outcome of our activities.

or how about when you feel negative and thinnk negative you come to view yourself as negative and thats not good. or maybe you over eat to compensate for the bad thoughts?

or how about this, i never believed any of those ******** (pardon the curse) that I was a monster for being my weight because I wasn't going to take their negative thought and validate it by putting it into my mind and making it my own negative thought. I am not a monster, i am not weird, i'm not a freak. sometimes when i am down i have felt like caving into those thoughts and those negative images, but i don't because I know better.

bottom line, i don't have the science down or the ability to fully explain it but when i am thinking positive i act positive and i have a good day and then good results come my way. i'm productive and yield results.

If you have a postive attitude and a good day you will make good choices to continue that... if you feel negative or unworthy... you may opt for unhealthy foods and think why bother trying... what difference will it make as i all ready blew today...

i think to be successfull you need to not care about what others think or say negative or otherwise. You need to do it for yourself and not let others opinions or words affect the mission and or journey that you are on. You need to be proud and determined within yourself not let your day be determined by what others think of you.

Negative self-talk - it can be the different between eating what you need and eating some comfort food that exceeds what your body needs. It is documented that people if feeling bad will self-medicate. It might be alcohol, drugs, food, or sex - just some examples. We have a feel good center in our brain that needs its daily dose of feel-good hormones. If we are not getting it, we go to medication. My family has several people with drug and alcohol issues. I have issues with food. It is not all - a result of external factors but there is some that is internal.
