Gail, your attitude is great and that dance class sounds like fun and a super way to exercise. Good for you!

You've done so well on "maintenance" that I TRULY BELIEVE you CAN and you WILL see your goal well before the end of the year and be MUCH closer to not only ONEDERLAND but also your 160 goal.

Keep coming to the boards. You will be AMAZED at how much they help you to stay on track and the tips and support you'll get from all of us.

GO FOR IT!!!!! :)

Keep fighting the fight piano!

Mrs. Dash salt free seasonings will be your godsend. I too when I started last year thought some of the foods eh. But with a little help from your good friend salsa and seasonings you should be ok :) Go through that aisle and see what smells/sounds good to you. Half of the ones I originally bought I never used but my live in did :)

As for the hunger part, make sure that glass of water before is a big key. I was ravenous last year after being eating 3-4000 calories a day down to 1500? **** no I thought. With some sugar free jello and a lot of carrots I made it :)
JC start Feb 11 - 212 lbs
JC break Aug 11 - 172 lbs

Having a venue like this forum to "let it all hang out" with people on a similar journey proved to be the missing factor in my being successful in reforming my thoughts and behaviour around food, fitness, and fun. There is a wealth of experience, knowledge, and humor available here. It's a friendly universe without judgement. :)

I think it is about being happy with yourself, no matter where you are. I am back. I lost 60 lbs 5 years ago. I have gained 40 back. When I lost the weight, I was happy, but the same insecurities remained.

This time I am back, not disgusted with where I am, but knowing that there is a better me that I can become.

So, take a look at yourself, be the best that you can be today. Knowing that in the long haul you are going to look even more fabulous!!!

Welcome back, GotFaith! We're glad you returned and I'm sure you'll find that what might have been missing during your first time with JC and maintenance was the camaraderie you'll find on these boards.

We're all in this together - insecurities and all - to help each other and to help ourselves. And in doing that, I think many of us find a way to feel better about ourselves.

You have all the tools to succeed this time and to make it the last time you have to go on this journey and we all want to help because YOU DO DESERVE IT! :)

Totally agree Gotfaith......btw, love the name.....I got it too! ;)

I love how you are happy in your own skin!.....even if that skin is a bit stretched or sagging it is so important to be happy with ourselves. We can reach our goals and those all the weight in the world but we are still the same inside....that will never change.

Good morning! I am also back and trying to convince myself I am excited...first question I asked my consultant was, 'got any new foods?' Unfortunately the only new food recently is a breakfast, which I never have time to eat. Hoping for something new and exciting for lunch or dinner...but JC is usually pretty good about adding new stuff fairly often so I have hope.
I have been a pretty steady customer at Jenny for a pretty long time now too, don't actually want to sit down and figure out just how long. Let's just say I've gone through a divorce, graduate school, new job, and now a new live-in boyfriend and a new job all while seeing the same people at my local Jenny Craig center. So this should be a good thing, right? So why doesn't it feel any easier?
Anyway, I kind of re-joined last fall, quickly lost interest and was cheating on most of my meals within about 2 months (as soon as I lost the first 10 pounds), and decided I would just take a little break and come back after the holidays. Naturally, I am right back where I started last September. I know the first 10 pounds are easy, at least for me, but it's the hard weight, the next 20, 30 now...that I have trouble with. Think my consultant is pretty sick of me, and I don't really blame her, I have more excuses than my 16 year old has about his homework!
So gonna give the online support a try, as I read above, nonjudgemental, insecurities and all. Just want to say in advance, thanks to you all just for being here! My plan was just to read, not join the conversation, but figured why not! Maybe it will help!

Welcome back, NPSpencer! Hopefully this time will be your last time need Jenny. :)

One of the things I know helped me (on maintenance now) was finding what my real motivation was to lose the weight (besides just looking better). I've found during my time on JC that the folks who have the strongest motivation (health, wanting to feel better in general, wanting to set an example for their kids, etc.) usually did the best and were able to get over the rough spots more easily.

So if you can come up with what your motivating factors are and keep reminding yourself of them, this time you can not only lose that first 10 lbs., but keep achieving your mini goals until you have your big goal achieved.

We're all here to help each other and now to help you too. So let us, please. :) Come to the boards often, ESPECIALLY when you think you're going to slip. (And pretty much all of us have slipped but for me it's not the slipping that's the issue, it's learning from your mistakes and seeing how fast you can get up and stay up.)

I know you can do this! Now make sure you know it too. :)

Thanks Phyllis, I'll take all the pep talks I can get! I just keep telling myself, I've done it before, I can do it again! Now I am off for the weekend and will be back sometime next week. It does help, though, just knowing I'll have somewhere new to go and gripe/vent/celebrate...

I am another one starting back to JC after a 20 year break - I lost 50 lbs then but got bored with the food and when I tried going it alone, I started gaining back. I have been lucky in that I did not gain back all the lost weight but now there are health issues (Type II diabetes) and that has motivated me to get back at it. Also an upcoming trip to Hawaii - now that is going to be another issue to discuss!

I am looking at 20lb increments - the amount recommended to lose to help stabilize blood sugars initially. I am currently going to a centre, but after my holiday am thinking of doing it at home as the Centre is quite a distance from me. Any advice from others who have gone this route?

So far I am enjoying the food - it has definitely improved over the past 20 years! And am glad to see my favourite Salisbury Steak is still on the menu! And it seems there is a bit more flexibility as to meals on your own while on programme. I have always used a lot of herbs and spices in my food and find stirring them into the meals before nuking them really helps with the flavour.

Welcome back, Landlubber! It's nice to have you here. And, yes, JC has changed...for the better. :)

So that you don't run into the "same old, same old" routine and get bored and decide to give up again (not that you will ;)), here are two links from some very successful JCers who put together some great ways to switch things up.

And PLEASE come to the boards often. You'll find lots of support here, tips, tricks, laughs and just a place to vent when you need to. :)

Welcome back lanlubber!

Yes, there are many here who are doing the "at home" way.....and are very pleased with it. I am on maintenance now but when I was in my losing phase and going to the centre every week, I was a phone consult client. I would give my jcc my weight and order over the phone after our consult, then drop in to pick up my food at my convenience. Now that I have moved a far distance from the centre, I call in my order every month or so......that way I dont have the shipping fee's.

Welcome back Lanlubber!

I'm an at home client. I receive a call from a consultant once per week. i give her my weight and we have about a 15 min consult like you would in a centre. I love doing it that way. I think the biggest downside is that there is a $65 shipping fee. If you do a 4 week order (broken into two, two week shipments) then you only pay one shipping fee even with two shipments. That does mean if something new comes in, you may have to wait. however, at least with my shipments, i have been able to get some things that have run out at the centers or were temporarily discontinued (like the turkey dinner) that some of the in centre clients haven't been able to get. I have some centre's fairly close to me but it's my work schedule that makes it easier to be an at home client.

Again, welcome and if you have more questions, come to the boards.
:)

OK, first, wlcome back and welcome to the boards! :)

Now, please don't stress over the smaller loss in the second week - assuming that you DID stay on track. Chances are you'll see a much better loss next week. Just make sure that you eat your JC meals and drink ALL of your water.

As for the sauerkraut (and I know it's funny but I was on a sauerkraut kick a few weeks ago), yes, you can have that. You can have ANY type of NON-STARCHY veggie and as much as you'd like.

However, sauerkraut is salty so you will want to GREATLY increase your water if you eat it to counteract the effects of the extra sodium.

And if you're having a boredom factor with the meals, two of our very successful JCers came up with some great volumizing the "changing up" recipes you might want to check out. Here are the links.

Good luck and PLEASE come to the boards more often. We're all here to support you and be a place where you can ask questions, vent when you're having problems, offer tips and so forth. It's a tremendous resource and it's great to know you're not on your journey alone. :)

I've recently returned to the program after 10 years away. I had lost about 50 lbs. the first time and gained it all back once I stopped. As for feeling hungry - try snacking on some celery sticks, drinking a diet soda, another thing that helped me is I realized that so many times we eat not because we are hungry - but because we are stressed, bored, anxious. So if a 1/2 cup of non-fat yogurt or milk doesn't help the hunger - then think about what the real problem is.... maybe you need a hobby? I started making jewelry and now sometimes forget that it is meal time! I space out my fruit and snacks for every 2 - 3 hours so it seems like I am constantly eating. Fill up on veggies.... I'm not gonna say take a walk because when people tell me that instead of eating I should exercise or take a walk it makes me mad. If I was a walker I wouldn't be this heavy in the first place. But seriously - don't let it get you down.... start brainstorming about ways to fight the hunger BEFORE you reach that point. You'll be surprised by how much better you feel when you control your hunger and don't let it control you. Hope this helps!

I know just what you mean! I was so determined my last time, I dropped weight like crazy just following the program closely. This time around I feel much less motivated. The mantra that keeps me going is I KNOW I CAN DO THIS, CUZ I'VE DONE IT BEFORE! which on good days feels empowering but on bad days feels like an indictment. i'm also using the 10lbs at a time trick lately. otherwise the 60 pound journey seems too overwhelming and a constant reminder of my long slip and fall over the past year and a half.

p.s. LOL phyllis @ why'd'ya think we got our own category?!!
