hey everyone... i have realized that my weight does not go down down down from week to week as i would love for it to be. instead, i lose and gain, lose and gain...even though it is up and down, over all.. i lose, just so slowly

this week however, i gained 1.5 pounds!!! i was so upset. my consultant asked me a million questions but i did not eat off plan - i am actually a pro at JC by now.

then we realized it is my time of the month...can this really cause my body to retain so much water and show on the scale? i sure hope so or we have some other problems

thoughts??? anything would be helpful

thanks!!!

Oh, Roxy, heck, yes, your TOM can cause you to gain SEVERAL pounds!

Hey, if I have a glass of wine with dinner (I'm allowed on maintenance and also because I figure it into my daily plan), I suddenly can see that scale go up 1-3 lbs! And it's all water weight. And usually in a day or two of "drowning" myself in water, it's all gone.

So, yes, if you've stuck to the plan and the scale goes up, it can be all sorts of reasons and all of them are temporary.

Hang in there! Just think of it this way, next week, if you stay on plan, you should show an even bigger loss. :)

I know that when I lose weight I do the yoyo thing as well because I workout at the gym and gain muscle mass extraordinarily easily. So, sometimes doing an extra (tough) workout will do that too. In particular I would go rock climbing and this caused crazy fluctuations. The measurements that they take are also a huge indicator of what is going on as well as bloating from aunt flo.

Yes it can cause a gain. So can ibuprofen, like Advil. So if you are taking any pain medication for cramps, it can cause water weight gain. I gained 5.5 pounds one week from taking Naproxin, which is a pain killer, after hurting my back. It was gone the next week.

Amen to all of the posts above! We ladys all gain a few pounds at TOM. Give it a day or two and that extra weight will vanish.

thanks for all the help!!! i feel much better knowing i am not the only one. i stick to jenny 100% so to see that # can, of course, be very frustrating, and come to think of it, i was taking a lot of pain medicine like midol, tylenol, etc.i will drink lots of water this week! i guess we can't base everything around the scale

i am going back saturday morning and i will let you know how it goes! my consultant wants me to come in first thing before drinking or eating anything, since i usually go mondays after work.

thanks again everyone and good luck to all :D
