Welcome aboard Jessica!

The souptizer is optional....you do NOT have to buy it if you dont want it. You are suppose to eat it BEFORE your meal to help fill you up, but I never bought them again. I bought it once and BLECH  it was not good at all....bland.

I agree that they are bland, but sometimes it's just what I need to get me past a hunger pang or whatever that feeling is! Anyway, I bought 5 of them a month ago and still have 1 left. I think they are nice to have "in case."

I think having a hot cup of tea has a similar affect...it fills you up a little prior to starting your meal. I nice big salad before a meal also has a similar affect.

I never purchased them. As Sue mentioned, I also found that having extra vegetables or a larger salad with my lunch or dinner really helps.

I actually did buy them and thought that the tomato florentine wasn't bad at all! It gave me the feeling of extending my meal time to match that of my husband's.....it was another course!

Good luck!

I like the soup. It just gives some more volume into the void :) ! Also, I'm training ( trying to retrain, I guess) myself to eat slower, and sipping hot soup sure does that.

You might want to just a few.

Cheerio!

I'm glad you asked this, because I also just joined and got my first order and had no idea what that soup was supposed to be. The person I talked to on the phone when I joined didn't mention it so I was clueless.

I love the tomato florentine, I have been on Jenny Craig for 2 1/2 years, 2 years on maintenance and it is the one thing that I always re-order. I mostly have it when I get tired of having a salad every evening with my meal.

Sometimes I will add some veggies like carrots, green beans, and mushrooms or if I want to make a whole meal I will add a little bit of shredded lean beef to make a great beef stew over a 1/2 cup brown rice.

Hope this helps.

I like to have a few of the soupitizers around - both flavors. Granted, they are a bit pricy by themselves but, for me, they are just enough to take the edge off...without me heating up a whole can of Campbells when I want soup. I have tried to deconstruct the minestrone...there are a few beans in there plus some veggies but if I made it myself I would have a whole pot of soup that would be gone in a couple of days. I LOVE soup so these are an appetite suppresent and also damage control!

I'm not sure where you are on your weight loss journey, but you should make you a big pot of the original cabbage soup that was used for the diet.....its an excellent appetite suppressant.

There are many different variations of the soup, but this is similar to the one I have used.

Be aware that a JC soupitizer uses up two of your "limited free" allowances. I've tried all the varieties of Soupitizers and didn't like any of them and actually resented that they took up those limited free allowances, LOL!
You can make a soup using all "free" veggies and have as much as you want. JC used to have a recipe on this site for the "free" soup but now I can't find it.
Basically, throw every free veggie that you can imagine in a pot. Add a few bouillion cubes or packets and let it simmer until everything is cooked. Season as you like---parsley, thyme, salt, pepper, a few hot pepper flakes, etc.

Okay, here's a recipe I found when I went looking for the JC soup recipe.
I would add lots more veggies but that's just me. Start with this recipe and add free more free veggies as you wish and it will still be a "free" item:

I've been maintaining for about 6 months but not at half-way yet. My 3d weigh-in back with the consultant is this coming Friday. My focus this week is planning my meals. The Tuscan soup recipe might do the trick.

My counselor didn't really explain the soupitizer either. I haven't gotten any yet and don't think i will. the meals and a side of veggies seem to fill me up just fine. :)

Im just starting and didnt really like the Tomato Florentine soup, liked the other a little better. Today I put some black beans in the Tomato Florentine and it made it better but I think I will get a big pot of the unlimited vergatable and make some and not buy those again....could even freeze them in individual servings...will save time and taste good and can be eaten at any time.

I'm headed into my 3rd week and have found the soupitizers life saving when walking in the door after a loooonnnngg day as a primary teacher. I empty the heated can into a cute little mug to dress it up and get rid of the 'can' taste. Then I sip it as I'm unloading my bags, getting dinner ready, etc. I love the idea of the cabbage soup or JC Tuscan soup instead, though. Love making a big pot of soup and freezing some.

So if Soupitizers count as 2 limited foods, what do those soups count as?

I'm new to Jenny as well (just started today). So glad I found this forum. I was STARVING when I got home from work and wondered what the soupitizers were. Thanks for the help everyone! That Tuscan Soup recipe looks amazing. :)
