hey everyone

i was wondering if the majority of people picked their own food for the week - or followed the planned menus JC provides (follow for 4 weeks and then go back to week 1)?

and what has worked better? is there a difference?

thanks!

In theory, the planned menus are the most nutritionally balanced. And if you like all of the food (and you can make 2-3 substitutions if there are a couple of things you don't like) and want the program to work at its best, then stay on the planned menu.

Most of us, I suspect, however, do the personalized program and that also seems to work fine. There may be a small difference in the weight loss for some but for most of us, the ability to eat what we like rather than what's on the plan, is worth the potentially slight difference in weight loss.

It's usually best, however, to at least stay on the planned program for a few weeks if for no other reason than to get your body used to the foods and to allow you to try everything. Plus it helps you to get used to the routine.

So talk to your JCC, Roxy, but ultimately, you're paying for the program so do what you think is best. :)

I ate from the preplanned menus the first 2 weeks, and the 2nd week at that time was a killer for me. From then on, I did my own menu from the menu planner on this site, and took it with me. I did try to eat all the food at least once, because some of things I thought I would not like, turned out to be my favs.

I am such a picky eater I went to a personalized menu right from the get go. That being said, I tried in the first month to order at least one of everything I thought I would like, which was most of the items on the menu so I think I got a good variety.

I also picked my own food from the very beginning. I am a VERY picker eater and was not about to pay for food I disliked and wouldnt eat.

From reading different post, it does seem that the folks who do the planned menus lose at a better rate than those of us who do the personal menus.

You have to do what works best for YOU. I think its a good idea to try all the foods and see what you like and what will work for you though.

I've stuck with the planned menus becuase I like the variety they provide. I do fine-tune the menu each week by swapping out the meals I dislike (omlette!), and try the seasonal fare not on menu (cinnamon rolls!).

I stuck with all four of the preplanned menu's when I started. Then for the next 4 weeks I used the preplanned menus as a guideline to personalize my menus and substituting out things I didn't like. After that I started doing all my own personalized menus, but I made sure to write them all out on blank menus so I had something to stick to and follow. Recently I've been ordering willy-nilly and neglecting to write out my menus, and I need to get back into the habit of that as I find it helps me focus much better!

Overall, I would urge all new clients to avoid personalizing your menus until you have tried all the Jenny foods on weeks 1-4. By then you should feel comfortable with your daily meals and snacks and be ready to make substitutions.

Hello All,
I am new to the program and decided to start with week 1-2. I now need to make a decision about what to do next. It seems ordering 4 weeks total is better for the wallet then just 2 weeks at a time, is that true? I am also wondering while looking at the menu where do I find prices to maybe help lessen the cost a bit? Or is there no option to do so. I was told by the person I am working with that when I order for 2 weeks the 65 gets added on for shipping, and I like him and all but I am new to this and would like to hear that from more than on person to get off the edge about it!
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ali,

From what I understand, if you order a month at a time (I was an in-center client so I didn't do direct but I've heard people talk about it), you only pay for one shipping even though they ship the order at two separate times so it saves you on one huge shipping bill.

As far as the price list, call your JCC and ask him to e-mail a price list to you because while the list used to be on the site, it isn't now (don't know if that's a temporary change or a permanent one) but you are certainly entitled to a price list so I would ask for one.

Phyllis,

I'm an at home client. It's true that if you order a full 4 weeks of food, you only get charged shipping once for both shipments and it is $65. I've never ordered for just 2 weeks so I'm not sure what the charge it.
