Hi Everyone,
This is my first time posting anything on the boards. I read the board everyday but never posted anything until today. I'm a returning member and I came back in October well I just came back from my center today and I was shock to learned my center food prices went up for example 2 weeks ago meatloaf was 6.69 well as of today its 6.99, turkey burger was 5.49 now 5.69, cinnamon toast was 4.99 now 5.09, brownie was 2.39 now 2.49, Ziti 5.69 and now 5.79, and etc. WOW!!! I told both leaders at the desk I said wow your went up on your food prices they said no I said yes you did this the form you gave me 2 weeks ago well they acted like they didn't know they both pulled the order forms and they said you right the prices did change and they said well they don't tell us when they raise prices they just send us new order forms. Well the new form is light blue with a different font and etc the anytime bars use to be 9.99 and now they 10.99 for 7. I just wanted to inform everyone because I did not know there was a price change that happen that quickly. I live in Virginia. I wanted to know did your notice the price change at your centers? Thanks everyone!!!

I am not surprised---they expect to get a bunch of new people for the new year --- mind as well start at the higher price. It saddens me. I will loose my rewards soon. I am not doing well loosing on the plan (and actually, am meeting with a nutritionist on 2 January) and will probably not be getting too much JC foods anymore --- but, I have my free (up to 100 dollars) week of food and just plan on getting a bunch of my favorites and that might be it for a while....

I noticed the price change a couple weeks ago because of the Anytime bars as well. And I thought $9.99 was pretty expensive - now those bars are over $1.50 each! I'm starting to think I can find a better substitute for the anytime bars...

It's too bad they don't even warn their employees before a price hike... I'm finding so much success with Jenny that I don't want to stop buying it, but I'll definitely have to cut back some. Too bad. :(

I just joined, so I didn't realize this had happened and yes the prices are quite high for the food, but I knew that going in. In the space of one week (joined last week) I've figured out the stuff I don't need to purchase: Soupitizers (can easily use cheap low sodium bouillion or broth), salad dressing (I only need a couple of packs if I'm going out), and those awful Anytime Bars.

I have to say those Anytime Bars are a rip-off. They make me sick to my stomach--I did some googling regarding the ingredients and figured out what the problem is. It's right up there in the top ingredients--inulin from chicory. If you google it you'll see that it is often linked to gas and diarrhea and dermatological issues. Given how much info is out there about the problems with inulin, I'm surprised JC continues to use it. Anyway, I bought twice as many Pria bars for only a buck or so more than the box of 7 Anytime Bars and that'll do fine for me, even if the amount of protein is less.

My center won't give the prices of the items. I'm starting to wonder if they are charging correctly. One week it was $167 and the next week it was $149 and then I took out 7 meals and no extras and it was $112. I'm having sucess but wish I new what I was paying for every week. As a consumer I think I have the right to know.

I thought the prices went up. But you really don't want to depend on Jenny food for the rest of your life. It's mention to be a tool to get you programed to portions and convenience. Convenience food is always over priced as you all know. But then again, chips and junk food are too. Find a strategy that works for you.
I'm always tring new foods and learn ways to cook low fat and healthy. I no longer purchase all the snacks, just a few and I only get a few breakfast, about 5 or 6 lunches and dinners. Then I am forced to learn how to shop and cook for a life long healthy way of eating. I saw a couple good suggestions earlier that included a web site called spark people and I have been following Berta "justloseit.com" it all helps me with my journey. Jenny is just a part of it, for me anyway.

TO amieteacher --- you have a right to know the prices. Ask for a price list. They have to give you one. If they refuse, call JC corporate and complain.

amieteacher, I am with Jen....they can NOT refuse to give you a price list. You are the one paying for the food, you need to know how much it cost. You need to call corp. asap...thats unacceptable!!!!!!

My centre has ALWAYS given me a price list...

Report your center to corporate if they don't share the prices. You definitely have a right to know. They can't keep them from you.

My center happily gave me a price list. I cringe when I look at some of the prices, tho.
Another client & I were having a conversation in the lobby-she was telling me about how she substitutes some foods including frozen dinners that are cheaper, for Jenny foods. One of the counselors came out of the freezer room & wanted to know what we were talking about...she made a big deal about Jenny's food offering better nutrition, etc. Hmmm, the other woman & I just kind of looked at each other

carrie well the thing is, the grocery frozen meals have more sodium than Jenny. To me that's a biggie. I am a salt fiend as it is, so the last thing I need is diet food that is laden with salt. I've tried all of the grocery brands and they simply can't compare to Jenny food in terms of taste, quality and quantity. I think Smart Ones are the absolute worst. I don't mean to gross people out (and I swear I do not work for Jenny--I did WW on and off for 25 years), but there've been reports of larvae found in the Smart Ones desserts. I used to love those things but won't buy them now.

I know Jenny food costs an arm and a leg. But if I'm going to substitute for one of their meals, it will be with food that isn't from the freezer aisle (except for veggies).

I stopped in at my center today to pick up a few things. I asked for a new price list. Was told it's the same. I took one any way and yup its the same as the last one I got.

Maybe they get a new price list at different times?

I am on Maint but still eat a lot of thier food. I love the food and I dont really like to cook. It's easy for lunch at work and great when I am in a hurry after work. I can stick a pizza in the toaster over and be on my way.

I should clarify. The center I am at currently did not refuse the price list but does not give the prices on the itemized list of the foods I purchased either. So when you are purchasing 21 items and if you were given a list you do the math to check that their total matches mine. Next time I'm at the center I will ask for a price list. I did find out by asking that when I started with a lifetime membership 5 weeks ago I never got my discount (reason was I was on an installment plan and don't get the discount until that is paid in full 3 months from now). The center I'm at now is great so really I'm not complaining but it would be nice to feel confident in what you pay for or at least to prove the cost to my hubby.

Between me losing my Rewards Program 30% in January and the prices increases, Jenny has priced me out of her market. I'm retired. Sorry. After my renewal at the lower percentage, I'll only be able to buy my absolute favorites.

Before joining JC, I looked at my food budget to see what I spent each month. Then, I Googled quite a bit to find out what people were paying on average for JC food/week. I was spending more before JC........ I think the cost is going to be relevant to each person's personal level of what value they place on what they spend.

I was told if I take supplements, I didn't need the Anytime Bar. I wasn't offered Soupetizers. After reading the forums here, I want to supplement with the Pria Bar and will add my own low sodium, broth based soup to what I am buying at the JC Center. I thought about swapping out the cereal, but............after eating JC's cereal, I don't run for something else to eat like I do when I eat my favorite Honey Nut Cheerios - they make me hungry. With JC's cereal, I'm satisfied. So, with everyone's help here, I've decided to stay in the 4 week preplanned meals.............until we get to Clam Chowder

I knew going into this that I would pay the price to eat well and have someone do the planning. When it comes down to it, I have someone who cleans my house........so now I have a cook, too.

Years ago, I had an unemployed husband, 3 little boys, and weighed 257........so I've been there when it comes to really tight budgets. The goal is to get the same results. I admire the creativity and homework everyone has done here on the boards..............it has been very helpful to help me chart my course.

Have a good week!

I just try to pick out the cheaper foods, and don't buy the anytime bars - you can't convince me that sawdust is good for me...lol. I substitute, I have always done it this way and made it to goal for my daughters wedding and maintained for a while, but due to some issues I have gained a bit and now want to take off 10 for an upcoming vacation in April - Really I don't see what a couple of dollars a week is going to make if the plan is working, cut out a coffee or a "treat" to cover it. On average without the bars and doing 7 days of meals I am around $110 ish depending on what I get.

I know that this is expensive to some people, but for me it works, but I hope to be able to cut it down in a month and do 50/50, I could also use the money for my vacation.

What losing Rewards Program are y'all talking about??? I have been on JC since August & the only thing they offered me was if I spent a certain amount on food every week for so many weeks, then I would get $100 of food free. I could not afford the price they set for every week & since I am over half way, I have been doing MOMO & using other foods that are cheaper & better tasting.
