i usually weigh in mondays after work. so far i have been losing about 1.5 lbs a week on average which is great. last monday i was 147.1. this weekend i was curious to see what i would be in the morning before eating or drinking anything on the JC scale, as they say that is your true weight. i was 144.1 - a 3 pound difference from monday after work. that was saturday.
so yesterday, monday, after work i went for my usual weigh in and to see how much i lost this week. i was 149.8. my consiultant said it was due to water weight - i had about 3 drinks out saturday night of vodka and seltzer. everything else was exactly on plan. i didnt have my snack after dinner saturday night.
could water weight from drinking saturday night really cause a 2.7 gain. saturday morning i was 144 so unless my body really gains 6 pounds through out the day but i doubt it.
any explanation??
thanks!!

Water can cause you to gain 3-5 lbs. in a day! So, yes, it's very possible.
Look, on an average day, your weight can fluctuate by 1-5 lbs. from morning until night. Other causes of weight "gains" can be something as simple as wearing different (heavier) clothes from one WI to another.
Three vodkas. Well, there's also a bunch of unneeded calories. And the other problem with drinking is that is lowers your inhibitions so you're more likely to "indulge." I'm not saying you did, but just keep that in mind.
If you do drink, try to limit it to one glass of white wine, because it has the lowest calories. But then DOUBLE your water intake for that day and the next to flush out the sodium.
And DO NOT skip ANYTHING on your menu (like your JC snack) to "make up for" the calories you took in from drinking.
Look, it's not the "slips" that will get you in the end but how quickly you get back up and get back on the plan EXACTLY the way you're supposed to. So, let's say you "mess up" at lunch and have something you weren't supposed to have. In your mid-afternoon, have whatever your were supposed to eat, have your Jenny dinner and then your snack - just the way you would on any other day where you stuck strictly to the plan. That's an important lesson.
We try to "make up" for things we did "wrong" by skipping foods and that's actually making matter worse.
So don't worry too much about things like water weight due to your TOM or going off plan or whatever. These are usually temporary gains (or smaller losses).
And, if possible, STEP AWAY FROM YOUR SCALE between WIs.
If you can't do that, at least, don't expect to see the same numbers at your first WI on a morning when you're naked and you haven't had anything to drink or eat yet.
Hang in there. Your temporary "gain" will come off if you stick to the plan until your next WI.

Well, it sounds as if you learned an important lesson and maybe found some stress relief from understanding that, yes, water weight can play tricks on you but drinking water can help you to lose the water. It doesn't make sense but it works!
