Hello I am new to this, but I've always struggled with my weight since I was 12. I'm now 24 and while people like my friends and boyfriend think I'm just fine/beautiful/hot/whatever...I'm terribly unhappy with my body. I want to lose weight and I keep hearing about jenny craig but I'm not sure how the pricing is, or how fast it works. My weight goes from 156-160lbs all the time, sometimes to 165, and at 5'2 I feel like a waddling duck sometimes. It makes me lose confidence when I dress, so I'm doing the bulky clothing thing, and I always wear a jacket over my t-shirts...and it's killing my confidence with my boyfriend in certain ways. I'm so not happy with myself, but I don't have a ton of money to do this either. What's the pricing like? How well does it truly work? How long does it generally take?

Thank you for your time and help. :)

Hi, I'm 5'2 also and started JC when I was about 30 years older than you and about 25 lbs. heavier than you. :)

The pricing is hard to say because it depends on the program you opt to take. There are by the month programs that is like $30 plus the cost of food, and there are others which have rebates/discounts when you hit certain goals. It all depends. You really should call the 1-800 number or make an appointment at your local center to go talk to someone about a plan that's right for you.

OK, but having said that, the food will cost you about $125-$150 a week plus fresh fruit, veggies and dairy. Yes, that sounds like a lot - and it is - but you also have to consider how much you pay for all your food at home, when you go out, snacks, etc.

The food is EXCELLENT. Of course you'll like some dishes more than others but that can be said about anything.

How much will you lose. Well, ON AVERAGE people lose 1-2 lbs. a week. BUT you will lose it at a healthy rate and that's good. Some people lose more; others less. It will depend on you and how closely you stick to the program, how much you exercise, and simply how your body reacts.

Look, there are fad diets out all of the time and if you've been struggling with your weight since you were 12 then you know all about those.

The problem with those diets is that yes, you'll lose weight and usually quickly BUT you'll also often not only gain the weight you lost back but also more weight. Jenny Craig is different.

If you work this plan correctly, not only will your body get used to losing weight, you'll learn the habits you need to know to keep it off. You also will have a JC Consultant who will help to keep you on track AND if you want, you'll also have all of us! :)

We'll lend support, cheer your losses, help you through any difficulties, give you tricks we've learned and so forth.

Are you worth that investment? I think you are. :) I hope you'll join Jenny and us very soon. You deserve to live in a body you're happy with.

Let us know what you decide.

Hi there

Here is my take on the price:

I joined JC about 6 years ago becuase I had gained about 12 lbs in a ridiculously short period of time...I blamed it on my heavy travel schedule but it turned out I was pregnant...so I had to stop JC after about only 2 weeks...I had paid a hefty sum of $385 (or something like that) and just wasted the $$...fast forward to now: I still havent lost the weight (its been 5 1/2 years) and I have tried everything short of surgery...(and dont ask why I didnt immediately go back after having my child). So, I finally went back to JC thinking I would try the 28 days for $28 (or whatever it was) and would see how it all went and would then consider a $300+ membership...but when I went in, they told me that I was a returning member and that I only had to renew the fee for $49 per year...so long story short--the investment u make now could really be something that you use for many many years...if u think u need more than the 28 days, I would really consider the other options...

I will also say, eating healthy in general is not for the budget consious! Good food costs $$!
