Hi Everyone,

I just re-joined Jenny and so far I've not been very hungry during the day (my stomach does growl a little just before meal time), but I find myself RAVENOUS in the morning...I've been trying very hard to volumize my dinners as much as possible, but being that I just rejoined I'm having a little trouble eating all those fruits and veggies.

I basically don't eat from about 9:00/10:00 pm (when I have my Jenny snack after I work out) until I get to my office at 8:30 am the next day. And then I'm extremely hungry and feel a little unfulfilled by my breakfast.

Any good suggestions/tips for fighting the hunger monster?

Thanks,
Kat

Have you tried adding water or a low-sodium veggie juice like V-8 or Motts? That way you'll be getting the benefits of the veggies and filling up your tummy as well and, for me at least, veggie juice can be added to breakfast, lunch and dinner!

You said you're having trouble getting in your fruits and veggies, right? The question is, you are still eating the fruits, though, aren't you?

You can change the timing of when you eat the fruit but you definitely shouldn't cut them out. They're part of your balanced diet.

So, if you eat breakfast at work, why don't you have a piece of fruit when you get up or on your way to work? That might help and it will make you less hungry by the time you get to eat your breakfast.

Just a thought. I'm sure others will jump in with more suggestions. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been trying to eat all my fruits (one or two days I just wasn't hungry enough to eat the last portion).

I'm definitely get all my veggies in as I like veggies. But maybe the low sodium vegetable juice is a good addition (plus I actually like it) and maybe I can eat some fruit on my way to the train station in the morning.

Here is an off topic additional question. Can I use a tsp of light olive oil to sautee my veggies? I haven't had a chance to get to the store to buy Pam and I've basically been using the tsp of margarine and low sodium chicken broth to cook up my veggies.

I usually have a handful of carrots in the morning while I'm getting dressed, it helps control the hunger until I get to work and eat my breakfast... I"m not sure about the olive oil, I use cooking spray that is fat free to cook my veggies in but I don't think a tiny bit of oil will hurt but you will probably have to count it as a fat.

I agree with Phyllis about the fruit on the way to work. For the savory breakfasts, I volumize with veggies. For example, I saute onions and red sweet peppers in pam and add it to my omelet along with some salsa. Really fills me up. I also eat bananas with my cereal when that's my breakfast...it's very filling to me.

If you use the tsp. of oil, then you have to cut out a fat someplace else in your day. If you use Pam, well then you can enjoy a fat later in the day. Does that help?

Eat your breakfast before you go to work then have some yogurt and fruit at 8:30.
