I'm a returning "newbie" and just joined Jenny this past Saturday....I know, right before the holidays!!!
Anyhow, my co workers and I decided to go out for lunch tomorrow a long time ago and for some reason we all decided to go to a friend chicken place!!! I don't want to change the plans now only because I totally agreed to go and this place has reasonable prices. Would any of you be willing to help me pick something off the menu? There really isn't much....The link is below.

I mean, the food sounds yummy but it's filled with landmines so you have to be extra careful not to give in.
I'm surprised there aren't more grilled choices. Even KFC now offers grilled chicken. If they do, you can always have a small piece of white chicken, no skin, and plain salad.
Maybe some of the others have a better suggestion.
You found the menu, do they have a nutrition menu too? If so, that would help.

They also have carrot and celery sticks so I'll get an order of those to munch on as well.

Next challenge - I have my office holiday party tonight and I've decided to only stay 2 hours and have one glass of wine - I'm not going to eat the food there and opt for a Jenny meal for when I get home if I am hungry.
So my question is, do I stay on plan for the rest of the day? Should I really finish all my fruits/milks/snack for the day if I get hungry? What should I cut out to reduce the damage?
Thanks,
Kathleen

BTW, if you do (actually by now it's probably did) have wine, double your water tomorrow. Wine can make you retain sooooo much water, so you need to flush it all out.
Whenever I have wine, the next day my face is so puffy I look like I've either been hit or that I had an allergic reaction to something...that is, unless I drink GALLONS of water.
All of that aside, I think you did great at lunch ESPECIALLY considering what you had to work with. BTW, just keep some Jenny salad dressing packets in your purse for emergencies - although I like the idea of the hot sauce.

Of course when I got home I was still starving (because I didn't eat all my fruits, milks & veggies) so I had a Jenny lunch and some water and went to bed because I was a bit grumpy. I wanted to eat and drink and go overboard, so I was just a little down about it.
How does everyone do it? Manage to watch what you eat without the "poor me" or the anger that it seems like everyone else is enjoying themselves, why can't you?

Hon, you have to get yourself out of the mindset that "fun" equals "food."
I know, that's a tough one because we've "programmed" ourselves to link the two but if you focus more on the people than the food, you CAN enjoy yourself.
Naturally thin people or people who aren't interested in food (the way we are) do it all the time. We just have to "retrain our brain" to not think that "food" is the only way to enjoy ourselves.
It's NOT going to happen overnight but it WILL happen.
OK, so you did pretty good last night. In fact, you did VERY well. So, whoo-hooo, you made progress. Now we just have to get you to appreciate that without feeling that you "denied" yourself a good time because you couldn't dive into the buffet.
From now on, make sure you eat before you go to a party. Drink LOTS of water before you go as well. If you already feel "full," then it's easier to resist the temptations.
Try to remember how you really FELT after over-indulging in food and drink. While it might have seemed like a great idea when we used to do it, if you're like me, I hated that painful tummy from filling it up, the wine/alcohol hangovers or bloating, the guilt that usually accompanied these forays into food and drink. So now, when I'm tempted to overdo, I just try to remember how I used to feel AFTER the party and to tell you the truth, that's usually enough to keep me "good" and willing to have fun without the food.
For me, it's a lifetime of habits I have to change. I don't know if food has been an "issue" with you all of your life but it's likely be something you've dealt with for a while, so understand that you can't break long-term habits easily or quickly but when you do, the reward is sooooo worth it.
Hang in there. It will be better and I hope, for you, it's sooner rather than later.

I should have just eaten before I went to the party, but I was afraid I'd be way too tempted to eat so I didn't eat before I left. Now I know going to these things on a full stomach helps a lot more. I'm not an outwardly social person at parties so I probably eat to keep myself occupied as to not have to really mix and mingle. I guess food in these situations is my security blanket. Its when I'm with family and friends that I tend to eat, drink and be merry.
When I went home last night I also got on the Jenny boards too and looked at the posts of the before and after photos and it made me feel a little bit better. Then I went and took my own before photo in hopes that soon I'll have a good halfway photo, followed by an after!

Tomorrow night I have yet another challenge and that is my sister-in-law's Christmas party. She will probably have it catered with Italian food and they are quite the hosts with the alcohol. Let's hope I keep fighting the good fight tomorrow night!
Rob, the tenders on the salad were probably the equivalent to 4 regular chicken tenders - they were on the large side. I wanted to only eat one, but they were so good.
