Hate, hate, hate this commercial. It is not anything about the Jenny program I joined.

We have discussed this and we are guessing Jenny was going after the younger crowd...the "Mariah groupies"

And I gotta throw in my 2 cents. I cant stand the picture at the center where shes kinda looking down, her head is up though. I mean its not sexy and in fact it looks confrontational.
"You lookin at me?"
Thats what I think everytime I see it. Just dont like it at all.

That's funny! I had the same comment to my Center's director and he pretty much had the same reaction although he was still trying to be upbeat. But I know he agreed with me.

I mean, I get the point of the "younger crowd" but IMHO and after doing marketing and advertising for several companies, that would have been the LAST picture I would have picked. But then again, the non-smiling Carrie poster (she had kind of smirk) wasn't my fav either but her commercials were MUCH more upbeat and relatable.

I'm old what can I tell you! I've had a lot of time to gain experience over the years. :) Plus, I get bored, so I'm always trying new things. And some of those things came as a result of other things I was already doing.

I used to do a one-woman show called "Renaissance Woman" because I have done so many things and it was a way of incorporating my acting and writing with my art work. And then I used my marketing experience to promote the show.

Actually haven't done that in a while. Maybe that's something I'll add to my New Year's "to do" list. It was fun and got out all my creative juices in a package. :)

Or, maybe I'll write a new show called "Thin" and talk about the journey of the ups and downs of diets. That might attract women. Hmmmm. I know that wasn't your intention, Melissa, but I think you just gave me an idea. Thanks! :)

I don't understand why Jenny Craig uses any celebrities - show me real people with real weight loss. And I REALLY don't like them using Mariah Carey - are they trying to target teeny boppers? Aren't kids too young for the program anyway?

They did use real people in ONE commercial that I only saw ONCE. It was a gal with Valerie. Haven't seen one since. They do have the "before and after" shots in the centers and there are "real loser" type blogs on the website but not in their advertising. Too bad.

I really don't care for Mariah either. Frankly I don;t think she was really on JC - probably had a few snacks, but I don't think she ate JC food for 3 months and lost 30 pounds in that time. I think she was paid a boatload of money to endorse JC, that she had a personal trainer and chef and that's how she lost her pregnancy weight.
And that photo of her in the black two piece dress is so photoshopped. Compare how she looks in the Gayle King interview with the poster and it looks like she gained 30 pounds between the poster photo shoot and the interview.

I understand that people are upset with the Mariah commercial and posters. I, too, believe they are inappropriate and haven't helped Jenny at all. I will say, however, that Jenny is a very ethical company and Mariah has actually done the program and has lost 30 lbs on it. The poster is not photo shopped, either. They don't allow it.

I hope that Jenny does look at this feedback and chooses to change their approach and spokesperson (whether it be a celebrity or an average person ... like us)! I absolutely love Jenny! I have lost 105 lbs on the program and have kept it off for more than 2 years. I can't say enough about how this program has changed my life! I am a completely different person. It's that ... how Jenny changes lives .... that needs to be the focus on the Jenny commercials and promo material.

Yes, I saw her show. But while Eddie Fisher was many things (and few of them were good), the one thing he wasn't was fat. Oh, well, artistic license I guess. :)

Maybe he has other fat family members. If you saw one of my brothers (the skinny one) you would never guess he had fat siblings (one other brother and I are obese and another brother is a little overweight). My mom and dad were both overweight all during my childhood. After my mom retired, she lost 100 lbs in 3 years (she's kept it off 6 years). If you saw her now, you would never guess she was ever overweight.

So...you never know.
