I'm looking for some feed back on the arm band before I jump in and get one. I'm just not sure if it would be a good investment or not. It sounds like a lot of money to put into another device. Can you tell me if it works for you or not?
It is one of the best tools I have ever used. You put the band on plug it into your computer at the end of the evening and write in the food you have had during the day. In minutes it activates how long you slept, walked, how many calories you burned and your activity level. I love it. I have thyroid disease and I can eat once a day and be totally satisfied. This program have plenty of food and I loose weight, amazing.
I am starting my New Year off with a goal of loosing 30 pounds by March 30, 2012, my Birthday. You will love the BodyMedia Plan

I am thinking of getting the band but wonder whether to get it through Jenny or CostCo. CostCo gives you 12 months membership when you buy the LINK. I think Jenny only gives you 6 months and I am not sure what band you get. Any suggestions?

I love the armband! It really motivates me and keeps me motivated!

My husband and I both got the armband last March, before i joined Jenny. We both loved it right away, but didn't keep it up because neither of us were losing weight even though we had a deficit each day. But now that I joined Jenny at the end of November, I started using it again (my husband has not yet). I've been losing an average of 2 lbs each week. It REALLY helps me to know how many calories I am burning and consuming each day. I've had my deficit average just over 1000 per day. Now I know how much I need to exercise and how much I can eat. Right now I'm at my son's hockey tournament and didn't have a chance to exercise yesterday and ate out. I kept my dinner very light and ended up with only a 750 deficit, so I got up this morning and made up for it! Without the armband I know I wouldn't have any idea how much I was burning and what I can do to make up for it.

I recommend it! Good Luck! Now I just have to get my hubby back on his!
Start Date: 11.29.11

Has anyone used the Jenny Craig Pedometer? The band is out of the question right now and I was wondering if the pedometer is worth buying.

So I'm starting week 6 and now I don't notice the band at all. In fact yesterday I went for a nice long walk with my sister and then remembered that I didn't have my band on after I showered and didn't get to tract those steps and activity. (darn it) The best thing for me is it gives me a true fast idea about how many calories are in the food that I crave and motivates me to get moving. I plug it in around 6 each night and there have been a few nights that I walk in place while watching my favorite show or go outside for a 30 minute walk just to get my 45 minutes of activity or 8000 steps in. I can be a bit of a couch potato at times I'm finding out.
Wanting to look as skinny as I feel on the inside.

For those days when you don't have the armband on you can use the edit off body option that is shown on the dashboard when you click on the arrow near calories burned. Although you can't add the number of steps thou can add the amount of time and the category of exercise you did.

This post is a month old so I'm not sure if you've made your decision yet, but I just wanted to add my encouragement... I got the Metabolic Max when JC first started carrying it. I used it faithfully with the program and, of course, lost weight. Then came the holidays and I gained a few pounds back. So a couple of weeks ago, I took it out of the drawer, and tried to charge it but my 6 month subscription had expired, so I was thinking about what I would do next. I love the Body Media site, their graphics, and the capabilities of the device itself, EXCEPT for the size. They have much smaller ones out now, like the Fitbit. When I went on the Body Media website, they were showing a newer, smaller device that they claim is 1/3 the size of the old armband, so I bought it and am waiting for it to arrive (JC did not have it so I had to buy it directly from Body Media.) In the meantime, I renewed my subscription for the month and am using the old one and I have to say I don't know why I ever stopped. I am addicted to the darn thing, I must sync it 5X a day -- keeping track of everything, my sleep, my steps, my physical activity, my meals -- I've had two new personal bests in the last week! If at the end of the day I am short on something, I'll run down to the treadmill and even run for 10 minutes to put myself over the top. It keeps me honest. So yes, if you haven't already -- GET ONE!! They are fantastic.

I have had 2 pedometers from JC and they both fell off my waist band and broke. You can get the ones with a security strap now, I got one at Sports Authority for a few more dollars than JC. It has a security strap and has been very good.

Nope, I haven't got one yet, but this Thursday is weigh in and I was going to get one then. I did look at the bodymedia web site and saw the smaller one and was wondering if JC would be offering that one. Of course that's the one I want. I've been tracking my calories and activity on web sites/Balance log for at least 5 years and really never have much success. I either over eat or under eat when I work out like crazy! So I'm hoping I can finally end this delema and get to my goal and stay there. Thanks for your input!

How do you know what the deficit should be, is that something the web site tells you or does the consultant? I thought I was doing good by eating the JC meals, lifting weights 3 times a week and walking or biking (sometimes both), my consultant put me at 1500 cals and I gained! So I am hoping this band will help me clear up what is going on with me.

The bands does help you set that type of information. As a guideline if you want to lose 1 pound a week, your deficit should be 500 calories per day; 1.5 pounds is a 750 calorie a day deficit; and 2 pounds is a 1000 calorie a day deficit. Of course there are other factors that go into losing weight in a week but vfish's weight loss is right on. Her deficit per day is 1000 and she is losing 2 pounds per week. So if she was consuming 1500 calories like you, she would have to burn 2500 calories per day to get the 1000 deficit per day.

I was in the same boat for awhile, alley2 - I hit a plateau after losing about 50 lbs on the program, and nothing I did seemed to make a difference. We upped my calories because I had upped my exercise - basically all I did was maintain. I got my armband 5 weeks ago, and lost weight 4 weeks in a row consistently - first time that's happened since about October. Something about being able to see the numbers, track the food and be instantly accountable for everything really made me see what was going on and started the weight loss train going again. If you can afford it, I do highly recommend it. I love my armband!

Also, for what it's worth, I dropped my calories back just a bit - I try to hit about 1375/day, including my veggies and "free" foods, which puts me between 750 & 1000 calorie deficits, depending on my activity level. Obviously it's going to be different for everyone, but you might find that being able to see just how many calories you're burning a day will help you to find that magic calorie number to get you where you want to be.

Thanks Jen,
It is nice to know that I'm not alone - for sure! Weigh in yesterday was a bit disappointing but I did go down a whole .3 lbs! I am hoping that the arm band will help me see what's happening.

I was so excited to use my armband and it wouldn't sync, there were errors, I called the support line, she was very helpful. I thought it was working, guess I should have waited until this morning to put it on, but I didn't and when I tried to sync it this afternoon, it gave me the same error as yesterday and I had to push the grey button, then it looked like it synced, but it didn't record my steps or activity. I think I must have reset it by pushing the button.
Thanks for listening; I hope it works for me after I put it on again. Learning curves, maybe...human error, what ever the case may be, I hope it works.

Good luck alley - I hope they figure out what's going on with it. I've heard of others who had problems with the cable they were connecting with, and that caused the sync errors. Good luck, and congrats on your loss, even if it is only a .3, it's still moving in the right direction! :)

I've heard nothing but good things about the support people at Bodymedia, I hope they can fix your problem.

I have a bodybugg, which is the same maker of the JC band. I LOVE it. It is motivating to see your "number", and it encourages me to get up and move more, like walking in place while watching tv, parking farther away from the store, etc. I wear mine all the time and I don't notice it. I do move it from one arm to another though to prevent irritation.

Hi Everyone,

I'm on the at home Jenni plan. I was reading this topic and had to get one. I didn't even wait to talk to my consultant. I went on Costo online and the Bodymedia Core armband cost $129 with a 6 month membership. I ordered it Mon. or Tues. of this week and got it yesterday Thurs. very fast shipping and that price includes shipping. I just started it today, I feel there's a lot to learn but I'll get it. I really need something to get me going.

i got the band on my own a few years ago and I agree with everyone's posts.
However after about a year it wouldn't download the data, So now I am stuck with the band and the watch and they are of no use. I may look into trying to register it again and see if it works. But I paid over $200 at the time and am not happy about it ---though ****'s sporting goods store and the Bodymedia website.

T

Not sure if you'll see this, but my band stopped working about 2 months ago. I bought mine from Cosco instead of JC – getting the year free support. I only wanted them to tell me what was wrong with it but they sent me a packet to send it back in after I sent BodyMedia an e-mail and they sent me a brand new one free - a week later. I do think I had about a month left on the year contract/warranty or whatever it was, before I would have to start paying the monthly fee. They had extended everyone membership at one point when their web site wiped out everyone's data, and I think I was right at the end of being covered. They also extended my coverage again for another month because it broke. Hope this helps.
