I joined JC earlier today, my food shipment should arrive on Tuesday... I'm very excited to work the program!

A little about myself... I'm the wife of a Marine officer aviator, mother to a 19 month old boy, and caregiver to a canine cancer patient. In the past I lost over 30 pounds on WW, but they changed their plan and I stopped losing. About a month later & beyond irritated, I threw in the towel. A few months later I had only gained back 8 pounds.

Back in September we found out that I was pregnant with our second baby... I stopped dieting & gained another 10 pounds. Over Thanksgiving weekend I lost the baby, so here I am with all of this extra baby weight and no baby to show for it.

So, it's time for a change. I hope JC will provide the simplicity & structure that I need. If I have to calculate another point, I may lose my mind. I have about 50 pounds to lose and my husband is deploying in February... my hope is that by the time he comes back to us in October, I'll be at my goal weight of 135.

I look forward to meeting other members & hopefully building a few friendships!

Welcome aboard USMCwife!:)

First of all, I want to say I am so sorry about your precious baby that you lost, I know that was/is very tough on you. ((((hugs))))

Kudos to you for losing 30 lbs with WW.....which is a great program, but confusing and time consuming to me.....I dont care for the points system.

You will find JC to be so much more simple and convenient than WW....esspecially with a small child to take care of, and a sick fur baby.....sorry to hear that :( , I also have a baby dog and they are so much a part of the family.

I love your excitement! Keep coming here and you will find LOTS of friends...we are just one big happy family here.:)

Welcome and ditto to everything Melissa said!

You're going to love Jenny and it's such an easy program.

On another note, thank you and your son for sharing your husband so that he can help protect all of us.

I'm the wife of a Vietnam vet and I know it's not an easy life.

But don't worry, you won't be alone. We'll all be here cheering you on and helping anyway we can, so please come to the boards often.

Hello and welcome. I too am sort of a newbie. This is week 1 ...but of a return trip soooo. I've done WW and imo JC is a little simpler in that I dont have to constantly be doing math- lol. I dont like math. Sometimes I want to be able to go to the pantry and get a snack- the end. I think its great that you've jumped on this forum. I was never involved in it before and I wonder if that was my downfall. I didnt have a support system. In the 2 days I have used the forum and chat room I have met so many nice people. I am going to be involved here and I hope I see you chatting on here too. I look forward to hearing how you like the food. Some things I love, like the chocolate snacks and breakfasts. And some things are not my favorite lol but eveyone has different tastes. Anyway, I'm babbling. Its nice to meet a new JC'er

Welcome to the newbies! It's (in a weird way) nice to know that I am not the only one who had to throw in the towel with WW. I am just starting my 3rd week and am finding this very nice--it's like being on auto pilot when it comes to meal time. Being a single mom working in a high stress job myself, I can totally relate to having too much to deal with!! :D

Hi USMCwife. Just wanted to say we had very similar situations. In 2008, I joined jenny for the first time and got pregnant for the first time a couple of months later. Unfortunately, I lost the baby when I was 5 months along. I then got pregnant again 6 months later and also lost that baby at 12 weeks. Needless to say all the stress and sadness made my weight balloon up. This past Aug, I gave Jenny another try and I'm happy to say I have already lost 30 lbs.

Just know, you're not alone and you have tons of support!

Hello to you and welcome... I am so sorry for your loss, I lost my daughter in a car accident, and food was my only friend. I joined WW and lost 60 lbs. so I could wear some of my daughter's clothes. When I reached life time goal, I gained it all back and more, a lot faster than I lost it, that's for sure. Now, I am with Jenny, lost 42 lbs. in 5 months, at 57 years old now, never thought I would lose it that fast. Have two fur babies, canine also with cancer. I understand that too. Vet is trying to decide if he should operate on my 10 year old dog for mammary cancer....Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread, I just understand so well the problems of life and turning to food for the answer.

Maureen, I'm so sorry for your losses.

I've never been pregnant so I can't understand the full scope of your loss but please know my heart goes out to you and your hubby.

Cindy, yes, it's such a tough decision to decide whether to put our furry babies through certain operations or to let them peacefully go. It's a decision I've had to struggle with too many times and it never gets easier.

I try to think that the loss of one of my "kids" (we only have one fur ball at a time) means that we're making room for another less fortunate "baby" to enter our lives and enjoy being the most "spoiled kitty in America." :)

And oddly enough it's worked out that way. Jake, our current "son" is here right now (on my lap, of course, LOL) because we had to let our beloved Digit go. And Jake had been living in a cage in a shelter for two years when he was adopted by us.

Now this cat who lived on dry food and little love, is the world's most finicky cat who gets more attention and affection than he ever knew he wanted. ;)

Saying prayers that a decision your comfortable with comes your way.

Thanks for all the wonderful responses!

Cindy - it's a tough decision to make. Back in July our 3 year old lab was diagnosed with lymphoma & given two weeks to live. Thankfully we are stationed close enough to one of the the best Veterinary schools in the US & they were able to come up with a chemotherapy plan that saved her. She's been in remission for 3 months now.. but we know that in time the cancer will come back to claim her. In the meantime she's happy & living a very active life. It's very expensive (so far the total is close to $3000), but it's been worth every penny for us.
