HI,

I am at Halfway. I am going to order food today and send off to my JCC. (I am an At-Home client.) She has already talked a bit about MOM and we will talk further on Tuesday. I have plenty of cookbooks and found two cookbooks by the original Jenny Craig written back in the 90s. Being single, I think I will be relying on casseroles that I can make up, then freeze portions. Breakfast is easy as I can make quiches or just a egg on toast. Dinners are the toughest when I have looked at cookbooks, complicated recipes and some of them will not freeze. But I will figure it out.

If there is one thing I think I have learned is - this is a permanent way of life. So if I think I can go back to eating crossiants and lattes every workday and salads with more dressing and high calorie toppings than greens, I will be back up in the 200s very quickly. That has happened time and time again. What is that old saying - "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?" I probably have the quote mixed up a bit but it is close enough. I am really working on my way of life.

Story for you - stopped at Dunkin Donuts for my small coffee with milk and sugar and orderd a couple of Munchkins for the dog. (I know, I shouldn't but I do it once a week for him.) I almost orderd my old order - large coffee with cream and sugar, Munchkins for him and a coffee roll for me. Poor lady taking the order had to have me repeat my order because I shouted rapidly that I wanted JUST a small coffee!. My mind said be sensible and my "inner bad child" wanted a coffee roll, really a big cinnamon roll. Close call.

Melissa, congrats on so many levels - making it halfway, understanding that this is a lifestyle changes for LIFE, for starting to slip at DD and correcting yourself and for having such a super attitude. I'm so happy and proud of you! You're doing GREAT!!!

Once you start your MOMOs, feel free to come to the boards to ask questions. There are a bunch of us doing these (those of us on maintenance and others at halfway) so perhaps we can offer suggestions.

Don't forget that in addition to cooking for yourself, you still have the option of doing Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine, etc. which will offer similar results (although some are a bit higher than JC so check nutrition panels) to save money and have the convenience especially when you're cooking for one.

You also can do a multi-grain cereal and FF or 1% milk for breakfast (I prefer the FF half and half since it's a bit richer than skim milk) so that's something else you can add to your breakfast arsenal.

But you're going to do great because you have the right mindset. Way to go!!!! :)

Hi,

I never even though of Fat-Free half and half. I can get a black coffee at Dunkin (if I have coffee in the house, I drink it all the time and it is not good for my temper or blood pressure), then have add the FF Half at home. It will be a savings on some calories over whole milk which is what they are adding now at the coffee shop.

See another tip from the forum!

Good job!!!

Yes, please post all your questions and your successes. When I get to halfway I'm gonna need the same support and I plan on doing it right here. Lead the way for me sista!!!

Have you thought about switching to decaf? My DH and I switched a couple of years ago and it's helped his BP, my attitude, and both of our tummies. And we buy all of our coffee at Dunkin (even what we use at home) because we like it best and it seems to have less acid.

Yay, congrats on reaching halfway! I'm halfway also...or I was before thanksgiving. I have been doing my own breakfasts and cereals for a month now with JC for lunch and dinner. I now do lunch and dinners on my own on the weekends and doing good so far. Sticking to the JC model in my planning. My biggest thing I'm watching is my portions. And I'm being sure to keep lots of veggies and healthy foods on hand.

You are exactly right it's all a great new lifestyle!!!!

You are one tough cookie to pull up to a Dunkin Donuts and leave there intact. My morning stop used to be Chick-fil-A. Picked up a 3 pack of chicken minis and a med sweet tea (this is the south). If I was really hungry I'd also get the hash rounds(which are really tater tots). After being on maintenance for about a year, driving to work one morning I thought, you know, I could stop by there today, just for old times sake. But the more I thought about it, I said you know if I stop once, I'll be stoppping everyday. I drove on to work, ate my cheerios and skim, with blueberries and thought, nothing could be better than what I just had, AND no guilt. I have not had the thought to stop since. I don't evern look at the cows on the billboard.

Since you mentioned having trouble with dinners - can I suggest www.allrecipes.com? I LOVE that site, and they have a whole section for healthy recipes, including a "300 calories and under" category. There are slow cooker recipes, casseroles, definitely some options you can use to freeze and reheat. It's my "go to" when I'm trying to find a MOMO that's still tasty enough to cook for my husband and daughter.

I got to thinking about my old chickfila meal, so I went online and looked at their site. A 3-pc mini, Med sweet tea, and a small hash brown came to 680 Calories, 28g fat, 1100mg sodium and 37g of sugar. That's a breakfast and lunch these days.

It's funny. I went into Dunkin' Donuts today to pick up their bags of coffee and I didn't even think about ordering a donut or anything else. Go figure! Never thought I'd see THAT day! LOL

Well yay for you, but to be totally honest I will forever be tempted when I go into a Dunkin Donuts.....the mere aroma makes me crazy for donuts. So nope, I cant go in there for JUST coffee and not think of donuts....I aint blind & my ole smeller is working just fine. lol

I know what you mean, Melissa. That's why it was so shocking to me. My "smeller" must have been off and I must have been distracted because I LOVE Dunkin' Donuts and normally it would have been a struggle but today it was in to get the coffee, paid the bill and walked out and ran to my next errand. Bizarre!

HI,

I haven't posted for a bit. I got out of habit of journaling, getting on the forum, etc since they changed the website. I went to post on the forum the other day about finally getting a weight loss going again despite the holiday madness around me and I could not post.

I want to thank you for all the suggestions. I am thinking about doing all my breakfasts now. So far I have been doing three MOMs a week and my "lack" of success during December when compared to previous months, are not down to those MOMs but to my nibbling at holiday presents before taking them to work or neighbors or just throwing them away. I was not facing the truth and not telling my JCC who is very supportive. I think she suspects as she asks a lot about my mental state.

I did blog recently and posted a photo of me driving a horse for a horse trainer friend of mine back in July 2011. The horse belongs to an old man (83) who wanted his horse shown. I was at 232 lbs and my butt is as big as this horse at 900 lbs. I will see if I can attach the photo here.

Nope, can't figure it out but if you go to blogs (mlcarpenter05061's blog), there is a picture attached to the second entry in my blog.

PS Thanks to one of the experts, I went to photobucket.com. So here goes with the picture.
