i have to lose 100+ pounds for the 2nd time in my life...

When I was talking to the program director, she asked me why I had stopped going the first time when I was so successful. After thinking about it a little, I realized that I let what other people think of me stop me from going. Not any more. I'm 40 years old, I am morbidly obese, I am happy with who I am except with my health. And I really could give a care what anyone else thinks of me.
I am currently at my all-time high weight, which was pointed out to me last night would be the last time I had to see that number on the scale. I really hope she's right. I'm halfway through day 1, I am not obsessing over my next meal like I would have on another program, I am following my menu to the letter, and feel somewhat rejuvenated.
I just wanted to put myself out there, introduce myself, and say hi. Hope I can get to know some of you while I embark on this lifetime of change.

I feel your pain! Do you exercise? That has been the biggest help to me besides the handy JC food. I just joined the Jillian Michael's website (from the Biggest Loser) and she puts together a killer workout that you can do at home at your own speed. It is hard but I believe the only way to truly lose the weight and keep it off is by exercise. The cost is minimal and you can incorporate your JC food into your favorites list there to help keep track of calories in and calories out. I'm there if you want to come aboard. I will also be with JC through next year but I'm transitioning away because my rewards program is ending. Love to have you on board and I would help support you!

Please come to the boards often for support, ask questions, cheer about your losses and rant about your problems. We've all been there.
Just remember to break down your losses into reasonable and attainable amounts that will add up.
We'd love to support you on your journey.

Val,
Just curious. You've been "pushing" the Jillian Michaels website kind of hard these days. Why is that? It's a strange thing to do on the Jenny boards.
I hope you find what you want at JM but most of us are still happy with Jenny and I just wanted you to know you're starting to sound a bit like an infomercial!
Good luck with whatever program you ultimately choose to pursue. You have the strength to make any program work for you and I hope you won't leave us completely but I'm hoping all of them aren't an "advertisement" for Jillian. I mean you are sounding a bit like you are one of their "affiliates."
Either way, I'm glad the program is working for you and I hope you won't abandon us. We'd miss you even if you're not happy with the way the rewards program change went down.

my husband bought me a NordicTrack incline trainer for my 40th birthday, and i have used it a few times but i am kind of self-conscious when he's home, and even more self-conscious because we live on the 3rd floor and i'm afraid that i'm making a ton (pun intended) of noise when i'm working out. i am busy at work, usually my job is very sedentary but we are in the process of moving, so i am running around like a crazy lady, lugging boxes, moving furniture, and constantly in motion so i am definitely getting in some activity whether i like it or not.
i appreciate the support, and look forward to getting to know people here. i was really active on the boards when i first joined in 2005, but i am pretty sure the people who were there back then are long gone by now.
have a great day at work, ladies. be well, stay well.

Phyllis,
I guess I just want to show people that there are things that can work WITH the Jenny Craig program and not see them just drop out and go back to their old habits. I am not being paid by JM. I am a paying customer at their website. I am giving others information that might help them with their exercise program. Jenny Craig has made me realize that I can't rely on any program to get my weight under control and keep it off. There are other websites out there that give good exercise programs but the best one I found and what is working for me is what I have mentioned. For the last few weeks I've been scrambling around, trying to figure out how to finish this journey and after trying the Bally's fitness website (I belong to that gym), and several others, this one has been the most helpful. In my opinion, Jenny Craig is doing a great job of providing us with some healthy nutritious food to help us get the weight loss going. However, all they have done in regards to exercise is to tell me that I need to get moving and mostly they have told me to walk more. I have walked until I have worn out a pair of shoes and that isn't cutting it. It helps me to maintain but nothing more.
I am also telling people on the JM website that I am using Jenny Craig food instead of her food plan because quite frankly, I can't do both at once. I am using some of their recipes to help me with MOMO and DOMO and I shared one of the snacks with my consultant yesterday who agreed it was a good option. I love my consultant. I love the convenience the food gives me. I think she has done the best she can given the tools she has to help me get my weight under control. The last 4 years are the first 4 years since I was 18 (and I'm 49) that I haven't started the New Year's heavier than the past New Year's day. That is an accomplishment! And I credit that accomplishment to Jenny Craig and my coordinator.
I am not happy with the higher ups at JC. I feel they have made some bad decisions. Instead of ending the rewards program, they could have beefed up their program to give people some direction on how to increase their exercise. I have had very little guidance on this. They could have strengthened their program to help us after we get half-way and need to start adding MOMO and DOMO to our plan. A while ago before this all broke, the substitute consultant that I had got very stern with me because I wasn't buying 7 full days of food. When I reminded her that I was past the 1/2 way mark and had started to substitute, she said the rest of my weight wouldn't come off until I went back on JC fully. This attitude is what JC should be concentrating on. Getting the consultants to understand how to push us out of the nest. Not pushing us out unfinished!
I see lots of posts where "rewards" members are leaving with no set plan and that makes me sad because I have a strong feeling that they will not finish what they started with JC. I feel for everyone that struggles with their weight. I know I got on yesterday and posted quite a few posts but I was excited that I had found something that is working for me and wanted to share! I'm down 2 pounds in a week! The first time in over a year that it wasn't a weight loss in the fractions. And it is because I beefed up my exercise program.
Sorry this is so long but I don't want anyone to think I'm pushing JM for any other reason than shear excitement. I really don't agree with all of her nutritional information. But her exercise program fit my needs. This is just one option. It is a good site, it is relatively inexpensive and I think it would work for others who are trying to finish up their JC plan. Exercise is key. I am staying with JC. My plan is to get to goal by February when my plan converts then use the rest of my time to get maintenance under control. In a way, the last few months have made me take action and realize that it is time to reorganize and move forward.

You're right, too many JCCs are "order takers" who are more concerned with selling the food and getting their commission rather than doing what's best for their clients.
And you're also right that part of JCs goal is to push us out of the nest. In fact, in the pre-Mariah interview, the CEO of Jenny talked about how they want people to eventually phase out of the JC food entirely.
But just like anywhere else, there will always be someone who works for a company whose motives are skewed and self-serving. I'm glad you held steady and wouldn't let her bully you into buying more food than you needed.
Glad you're sticking around. I'd miss you.

A little frustrating, but i have a lot of good excuses why...
weighed in 5 days after last WI.
weighed in the morning last week, and at night this week.
wearing different clothes.
i didn't drink enough water.
i didn't exercise a lot (or at all...).
And... I have still lost over 7 pounds in 2 weeks, which is great. still have the returning member honeymoon glow... just aching to get into a new decade!
