So I was losing weight like clockwork. 2-3lbs every single week for the past 6-7 weeks. Now I'm stuck at almost 20 lbs lost and that weight scale is not moving.

I drink my water, I get my exercise in, and I eat my JC foods.

Nothing.

I say, 'hmm, maybe I need more water?' So I drink until I'm floating down the river and nothing.

So I say, 'hmm, maybe I need to exercise just a bit more?' So I walk up and down stairs at work, I pick up speed when walking, I dance a bit and nothing.

Then I say, 'hmm, maybe I should ONLY eat JC meals and no occasional MoMos and see what that does?' So I'm eating nothing but my meals and still nothing.

I'm getting very unmotivated. Plus it feels like my ToM might be early or I'm just ovulating or something because I feel crampy. But this is so frustrating and annoying. I don't have tons of money to be on a plateau for a week or two.

I don't need my food adjusted up because I'm on the 1200/day plan and I don't work out to the point I'm starving myself. Argh.

How long do these plateaus last because I've been in a funk all week because of this. I do feel myself still shrinking, but it'd be nice to see at least one pound lost this week.

And how long has the plateau lasted? Have you discussed it with your JCC? HANG IN THERE!!! It will move again. Are you getting all the fresh fruits and veggies in? Are you eating every 2-3 hours?

We need Phyllis on this! :D

I was put on the 1200/day plan because I do light to moderate exercise. Mostly walking, a bit of extra cardio and weights. This is not my problem because I added 10 extra minutes to my 'routine' and still nothing.

Hummmm, I'm stumped girl. Do you have thyroid issues, or have you had your levels checked? 80% of women have some sort of thyroid problems and arent even aware of it........and let me tell you, if you do, that will hold you up from losing BIGTIME!!!!

I am reading more and more posters say they are stalling out at the 6th to 7th week. I hit a plateau many times in my journey and everytime I started losing again. The body really does funny things, its very smart and catches on real fast to your routine. You just have to find some way to jump start it. Talk to you jcc.....and hang in there!!!!!!

HI,

Having dieted several times over the decades, I have had stalls in my progress. I suggest you keep doing what you are doing. Do not give up, especially on your menus and water. Make sure you are not cheating. When I look back , I usually gave up too soon, stopped doing my active (sweaty) aerobic activity or started "treating myself" with cheats. Sometimes all three at once.

If your JCC is a present or former client of JC, she or he will have some good suggestions. Melissa (the other Melissa who has reached maintenance) as well as some of the others on the forums can provide advice. They have "been there, done that". Just do not give up as I have done so many times in the past.

I don't think it's my thyroid. My doctor checks my blood every 12 months because of the blood pressure meds I'm on and except for extremely borderline hypoglycemia when I fast for them (and even after having some diet coke) my glucose is 65s. Not sure what I can do to kick my body's butt to get back to losing. I'm hoping it's just taking the time to get used to the poundage and keeps losing soon.

I'll see if I can add even more water to my diet to help some. I just have to be careful not to over hydrate cause that CAN and WILL kill you. It screws up electrolytes big time.

Let's hope I lose at least one pound this weekend of tons of water.

I too can feel your pain - you might try making sure to have a snack of some kind about half an hour before you exercise (if you don't already) - that was my sticking point. I was sticking to the meals, doing all the right things, but because I didn't have enough calories in my body for it to burn while I was exercising, I wasn't doing myself any good at all.

Hang in there!! I have been fighting a plateau for about a month now and lost 2.6 at my WI yesterday so it can definitely be done!

Here's a link to an article by an MD. http://www.healthlin...t/overhydration

Here's a couple of quotes from the article, "Drinking too much water rarely causes overhydration when the body's systems are working normally." "An adult whose heart, kidneys, and pituitary gland are functioning properly would have to drink more than two gallons of water a day to develop water intoxication. "

Two gallons of water is 256 oz. - way more than what most people recommend a day - 64oz.

Eane,

You talked about this not too long ago. I'm not sure if you read our replies. You said you were depressed and not eating on schedule. In fact, you were forcing yourself to eat. Are you eating every 2-3 hours now?

BTW, in case you didn't read our replies, here is the link to them: Eane and depression

Seriously, sweetie, depression and stress will actually affect your weight because of a hormone imbalance.

Plateaus are not that uncommon. How long have you been at your current weight? Are you saying that you haven't lost anything or that you've only lost a few ounces or that you are literally not losing an ounce?

If it's your TOM, then wait, because chances are even if you've upped your water, you could still be retaining fluids until the TOM is over. (BTW, stress and depression will also affect your TOM).

Are you varying your food? For instance, some people eat the same foods over and over and that can play havoc with some people's weight loss after a while. So you might want to change up what you're eating.

Are you eating veggies? Are you constipated (you don't have to answer that but it's something to consider)? Have you talked to your JCC (and if the lack of loss or a small loss hasn't been that long, chances are good your JCC will advise you to just "hang in there" because it does happen to many people).

Yes, I know money is an issue and you don't want to be on JCC forever but you can swap out your breakfast and do 100 calorie snacks and keep JC for lunch and dinner (although doing all JC is still probably your best best but it's worth trying something else).

But after reviewing some of your posts earlier this month, you were losing and we're only on 11/11 so I have a feeling that your "stall" hasn't been that long or am I completely wrong? (Believe me, I've been wrong sooo many time. ;) )

Tell us exactly what's going on and whether or not you've been following JC to the letter (eating often and everything else you're supposed to be doing).

There has to be a reason if it's been more than two weeks but if it's just that you've been at a "plateau" for a week or so, try to be a little patient. It's not fun and it is frustrating but it does happen.

Hugs and good, skinny thoughts coming your way. :)

Oh yeah, I know. I didn't mean like normal water intake. But if I sat here and drank, say, 10 gallons of water in one sitting it'd probably kill me. Drinking a few glasses throughout the day, even a little over 64 oz won't. It also depends on height, weight, health, etc. Plus, it's winter time so we sweat less. If I were running a marathon and only drank water, it would be harmful as I'd be sweating out water and salt and such.

Yeah, this is what I meant. Believe me, my kidneys are in top condition. Anything I drink and I'm tinkling moments later. Normal water intake and a little extra won't hurt me, I was just making a point to say I'm not going to sit here and drown myself in water. Weight loss is not important enough to accidentally harm myself. I was lucky at 18 to not die when I **** near starved myself to get in the military quickly.

Phyllis

I saw the replies. It's funny, yesterday I was feeling po-ed, so I had two MoMos. (Nothing bad or in overabundance, just something different for my body to take in). I had my breakfast cereal, ate my JC chicken sandwich, had ONE hardshell taco with only chicken, had a fruitcup of natural applesauce, had a small portion of steak and a small portion of hashed potatoes (with ketchup and no salt or extras) and drank the sparkling flavored water I enjoy that is zero calories. And this morning, my weight finally moved. Granted it was only half a pound, but it finally moved.

I think you're right about needing to change up what I eat. For some unknown reason, and don't ask me why, when I stuck to only the JC meals this week, I didn't lose jack, but when I had two small MoMos during the day, then the weight moved.

Maybe it's the sodium in the foods? I do drink my water, but sometimes I'll forget to (remember, I used to drink about 4 64oz Big Gulp cups of Diet Coke a day or more) so I do tend to forget. When my husband cooks food, he doesn't add any extra salt. He doesn't use tons of butter or oil (if he does use oil it's extra virgin olive oil), he uses Pam Cooking Spray and the seasoning he uses has no sodium in it.

So, it looks like I may have to do one or two days a week of mostly MoMos. Not saying I won't eat my JC meals, but they do have a ton of sodium in them and when my husband cooks, those don't.

Thanks for your encouragement, Phyllis. Sometimes I'm just so frustrated by little slow downs that I need to rant and rave even if the answer is staring me in the face. I haven't cheated with my diet even with my funk and anger at sitting here at a plateau. It had been a little over a week that I was at the stuck point. I know 'only a week?' Well, I get discouraged quickly. And even though before I really couldn't care less if I ate or not, I'm missing eating all my unhealthy foods. I want cake, I want salty french fries, and I want to just eat my yummy foods.

But I've come too far and I'm feeling better (except when I get tired as heck for some reason) and people are beginning to notice. I want to look GOOD in clothes. There's nothing wrong with people being a bit overweight, but I'm short and I've had problems with my weight for years. I want to be skinny. Not skeletal skinny, but sexy and able to show my stomach or wear tight clothes without bulges.

So I stick with this lifestyle until I hit and goal and beyond. Then I can begin to nibble on the bad foods occasionally. Not like I used to do, but if I want a box of french fries from McDs or Wendys or even Burger King, I won't sit there and beat myself up because I had one. If I'm skinny and work the extra calories off, I can still 'have my cake and eat it too'.

OK, you want your cake. Fine. Have you tried the JC cakes? I mean, frankly, I LOVE the JC brownies and I know some of us can't live without the cheesecake. No, they're not dripping in frosting but they're better than I would have ever dreamed possible.

And as for fries, would you settle for carrot fries? (Are they as good as Mickey D's - uh - no. But they are GOOD!

Here's the link to the recipe. Carrot fries

And, yes, once you're on maintenance you can OCCASIONALLY splurge and I mean OCCASIONALLY. And, yes, you will likely "suffer" because of the splurge but as long as you're aware of that and are willing to watch what you eat for the rest of the week, you can do that.

I know a bunch of folks on maintenance who do JC during the week and then eat what they want - within reason - on the weekends and they do fine.

Now, what does bother me a little is that the minute you got po-ed, you turned to food. Now, granted, in your case, it MIGHT have been what changed things up for you (or it could have been a coincidence) but you are going to have to learn other ways to deal with stress and emotions besides food.

McDonalds, Wendy's, BK and all of that are not your friends. Seriously, you only need food to live, not to live well. These foods lure you (and the rest of us for that matter) but they are "evil" in that they are addictive. You need to not listen to their "call" and find other ways of finding pleasure.

I love the thought of you in sexy clothes with a rippling tummy showing. :D On the other hand, if you indulge too often in the "undesirable" foods, that flat tummy is going to be hanging over those sexy jeans! :o

So, please, please, please really think about what it is you're expecting out of all of this besides a brief foray into sexy clothes. (It doesn't have to be brief but if you don't start thinking about the fact that those foods you are craving is what got you here to begin with, you're not going to be able to fit into your new wardrobe.) So find other ways to enjoy yourself. It IS possible! There are lots of things in this world that will bring you more than momentary pleasure that food gives (the pleasure if momentary - the consequences, well, not so much). :(

In any event, I'm glad the scale moved for you and that your DH is such a healthy cook.

Hang in there. We're here for you! :)
